Reborn: The Tyrant's Obsession -
Chapter 221: Who did this to you?
Chapter 221: Who did this to you?
She stumbled to a discreet corner behind the garden wall, away from the mansion’s view, and dropped to a squat.
Her arms wrapped around her knees, and the first sob ripped through her like a blade.
Ella did not want to cry yet the tears flowed down her cheeks endlessly.
The strands of her now short hair clung to her face as the rain soaked through her hoodie.
Ella dragged her palms down her face, wiping down the tears vigorously. But the more she did so, the more they flowed.
Like a child who was abandoned by her parents who promised they would come back with a candy, Ella huddled in the corner, shaking and shivering in the rain.
Suddenly, something covered her head, shielding her from the rain.
Ella froze, "M-Mom, I..."
When she looked up, all the words were lodged in her throat.
She had walked out of the mansion yet a part of her had been reluctant to believe that her parents would let her leave just like that.
But as she looked at the man standing in front of her, Ella felt the last bit of her hopes shatter.
Tears rolled down her cheeks as she glanced at Adrian, his suit jacket shielding her from the rain.
Raindrops trickling down his hair as he stood there drenched, his suit jacket shielding her head. fre ewebno(v)e\l.(c)om
Ella lowered her head, breaking off the eye contact.
At this moment, the man dropped to one knee and curled a finger under her chin.
He lifted her face, his eyes tracing her short hair, her tearstained face... as the girl in front of heaved for breath. Looking like she had nothing of her left in the world.
"What did they do?" If death had a voice, it would resemble his as he uttered the question.
The longer Ella remained silent, the further something stirred beneath Adrian’s gaze.
His jaws clenched and his veins bulged, yet he held her gently, leaning in as he whispered.
"Who did this to you?" His voice had a frost to it towards the end, as if she just had to say a name and he would cage them in a place of eternal damnation.
"Take... Take me away... Take me away from here..." Ella rasped, her voice hoarse and gaze unsteady.
...
Later that night, Country V was taken aback by a piece of news that began making rounds across the city’s elite circles.
At first, it started as hushed whispers and then it ended up in the headlines.
[BREAKING] Yu Conglomerate Under Investigation for Suspected Money Laundering
"Top-tier Jewelry Brand Allegedly Linked to Illicit International Transactions"
"Anonymous Whistleblower Accuses Yu Family of Using Rare Gem Exports to Channel Black Money Overseas"
"Investors Panic as Government Freezes Yu Jewelry’s Overseas Accounts Pending Audit"
Rumors suggested that the laundering had been ongoing for years.
Some speculated the whistleblower was an insider. Others believed it was a calculated takedown.
But one thing was certain:
The pristine legacy of the Yu family’s multi-billion dollar empire had been cracked.
In a private hotel room.
"Ah... Umm... Yes..."
Sounds of flesh slapping echoed in the dimly lit hotel room.
The woman was on all fours, her breasts bouncing as she screamed, "Harder... Harder..."
The man gripped her hair and thrust deeper from the back, while clutching her hair, "You feel so good!"
The woman lifted her head, her hair falling back to reveal her dainty face. Esther moaned, "Say it... Say it... mnn!"
Ricky smirked, "Such a needy little slut you are!"
"Oh yes..." Esther wiggled her ass, nudging herself closer to him, "It has been quite a while since you started dating Mo Lia. Who feels better, me or her?"
"Of course, it’s your babygirl... oh yes, move like that. What a good bitch!"
Both the people were so indulged in the moment of passion that they did not notice a little flicker of red in the faint darkness.
After the moment, Ricky slumped on the bed beside Esther.
Esther turned the bedside lights as she sat up and leaned back on the headboard of the bed, stark naked.
She grabbed the glass of wine from the bedside table and sipped on it.
Ricky observed her from the side before he too sat up and put on his glasses.
Esther glanced at him.
"What? Look, I am not being careless at all. I know the risks, last time Mo Lia almost caught us in action at my place. I had no choice but to distract her and now I ended up dating her because of all those lies." Ricky groaned.
Esther twirled the glass of wine in her hand, running a hand on her naked body, "Blaming me now?"
Ricky’s throat ran dry, "I am... just saying that you don’t need to worry. Mo Lia has been with her studies these days and Boss went to another city for work right after he came back from your house."
Ricky paused, adjusting his glasses, "I was surprised when you readily agreed to come over when I called you."
Thinking of the entire day’s event, a shadow hovered over Esther’s face, "I needed something to distract me."
"What happened?"
Esther fell silent. For months now, she had felt like Ella had changed.
Yet, every time the thought crossed her mind, she shrugged it off, thinking that maybe Ella escaped her scheme due to dumb luck.
It wasn’t until today... that she realized that all along, Ella had known everything about her schemes.
No wonder... No wonder she was politely keeping her distance.
All the missing puzzle pieces started fitting but still Esther could not figure out one thing. How?
How did Ella know of her plans and actions when she hadn’t left a single loophole?
The Ella before would never doubt Esther even with real evidence in front of her eyes. Then, why would Ella suddenly think of getting the food tested?
"That bitch," Esther groaned.
"It’s your dear sister again..."
"Don’t be smug. She knows about us."
Ricky paled.
