Chapter 1873: Chapter 1867: Suddenly Enlightened
Jin Yufeng pulled open the drawer that used to be locked. He never knew what was inside, yet it was kept locked by her. Now, the small lock was missing, and with just a gentle pull, he managed to open it.
Inside were a few children’s books and a Den-den daiko that Nannan used to play with, nothing more. Reaching out, he flipped through the books and discovered something tucked inside. Taking it out, he found it was a passbook. He remembered giving it to her when he first brought her back, and later, he arranged for Ah Qi to give her money every month.
Except for that one time when he personally handed the passbook to her, he never gave her anything himself. Jin Yufeng looked at the records, each entry meticulously logged. But why were there only deposits and no withdrawals? Seeing the final balance, his heart skipped a beat. She actually hadn’t used the money inside. Then how had she been living all these years?
Jin Yufeng felt as if he never really knew her, had no understanding of her at all. If he hadn’t married her, perhaps they would just be two parallel lines that never intersect.
Thinking about her still being pregnant, Jin Yufeng couldn’t sit still. He got up, found a small lock, and after securing the box from his pocket and the items from the drawer, he left the room, locking it behind him. He pocketed the key to ensure no one could enter that room.
Zuo Yaqin, who had been waiting for him all along, smiled and approached as he came out. But the man acted as if he hadn’t seen her, walking straight past her.
Zuo Yaqin froze, slowly lowering her outstretched hand, clenching her fist tightly, her nails digging into her flesh without feeling the pain.
Jin Yufeng actually ignored her. She had been waiting for him for so long, and finally, when he came down, he acted as if he hadn’t seen her. It made her so angry she wanted to murder someone. What on earth had he done? Watching him disappear through the door, Zuo Ya bit her lip hard, turned around, picked up her bag, and went home.
As for Jin Yufeng, he went to find Ah Qi. He wanted to clear things up with that woman, to explain that things weren’t as they seemed. There were things he hadn’t disclosed, and he had his reasons.
"Sir, why are you here?" Ah Qi was taken aback when he saw the person appear at his doorstep.
"Take me to find her." Jin Yufeng didn’t care about Ah Qi’s expression and cut straight to the point.
"Find who?" Ah Qi was baffled by Jin Yufeng’s words.
"My wife." Even Jin Yufeng felt like Ah Qi had become dim-witted.
"But sir, I don’t know where she is," Ah Qi only knew she was in the Imperial Capital, but not exactly where.
"Get someone to find her, even if you have to dig three feet under," Jin Yufeng was about ready to give Ah Qi a good thrashing. Didn’t he order anyone to follow that woman back then?
"Oh, okay, I’ll get right on it. But sir, do you still plan to go find her?" Ah Qi was also feeling unjustly accused, caught off guard by the sudden change of heart from the usually indifferent sir.
"Inform me when you find her, and do not let anyone know about this, especially Zuo Yaqin and the Zuo family. Do you understand?" Jin Yufeng instructed. Some matters needed to be expedited, or else he would risk losing both his wife and children.
That’s right, Jin Yufeng had suddenly become enlightened. He realized what he wanted, and since he knew, how could he let it slip away? Of course, he had to go find it back.
"Yes, but sir, um..." Ah Qi looked at Jin Yufeng, wondering if he planned to stay at his place.
