Chapter 1701: Chapter 1695: Locked Up
Yu Ze ate his flatbread while pondering the problem. That calm and composed demeanor was nowhere close to the image of a little kid—he was every bit like an adult. But still, his small body and young age couldn’t be ignored; it was enough to make people believe he was just a child after all.
Meanwhile, Qing Zhu remained hidden in her spot, waiting. Her plan was to find a chance to contact Yu Ze after everyone fell asleep.
But she couldn’t stop thinking—Yu Ze was still so little. Would he be able to hold back when he saw her? If he showed even the slightest hint of emotion, the others might notice him. Qing Zhu hesitated as she mulled over her next step. What should she do?
Qing Zhu kept her eyes on them. She stayed motionless, watching as they finished eating and settled down to rest. She swallowed hard—the entire day had passed with nothing to eat or drink. Now she was starving and thirsty.
But she had no choice. She could put up with the hunger; it wasn’t important as long as the child was okay.
Just as Qing Zhu saw the night guards nodding off, she prepared to move closer. Yet, before she could act, a pair of large hands covered her mouth, and her body was locked in place.
Qing Zhu cursed inwardly. Who the hell was this? Had someone found her? But she’d clearly followed them here, and those men were all accounted for. So who was attacking her now? Qing Zhu tried to fight back, but no matter how hard she struggled, she couldn’t break free.
"Don’t move. I’m not going to hurt you." The voice came from behind her, stopping Qing Zhu’s increasingly frantic attempts to resist.
Qing Zhu wanted to speak, but her mouth was still covered. She couldn’t say a word. She tried to let out muffled sounds to signal for the person to release her, but she feared making noise and alerting the people ahead. Torn, she didn’t dare make a sound.
Left with no other options, she extended her tongue and licked the palm of the hand covering her mouth, signaling for the stranger to let go of her.
"You want me to release you? I can, but you must promise not to make a sound or alert them. Can you do that?" The man behind her trembled briefly from the unexpected lick, his composure shaken.
With effort, he steadied himself and cautioned Qing Zhu. If they were discovered, he had enough confidence in his abilities to handle the group.
But with both a woman and a child here, he couldn’t afford to risk it. They absolutely had to stay hidden. Silver Wolf thought about this, then lowered his gaze to the woman locked in his arms. He didn’t know what her deal was—why she’d dared to come here alone in the first place.
And with the strength she displayed earlier, it seemed she was stronger than expected. If he hadn’t realized her intentions in time, she might have already slipped free.
Hearing the man’s words, Qing Zhu nodded. Whatever happened next, she’d first need to be released.
"Alright, I’ll let you go. Just don’t make a sound," Silver Wolf said as he felt the person in his grasp stop struggling, slowly loosening his hold.
As soon as Qing Zhu’s mouth was freed, she reacted immediately, preparing to strike. Damn it, this was unbearable—what kind of person was this?
"You promised not to move." Fortunately, Silver Wolf caught onto her intentions quickly. Otherwise, they might all be exposed now. He hadn’t expected this woman to possess such skills.
Silver Wolf’s instincts proved sharp. The moment his hand left her mouth, he sensed something was off and immediately adopted a defensive stance, stopping her cold.
"Let go!" Qing Zhu gritted her teeth, infuriated at being restrained twice in a row. It was humiliating. But she couldn’t deny the man’s finesse—his ability to subdue her without making a sound hinted at the incredible skill he possessed.
