Chapter 133: I Will Definitely Treat You Well
Chapter 133: Chapter 133: I Will Definitely Treat You Well
This time drinking, Brother Gu and Gu the second brother dare not let Gu’s father drink too much again.
Last time, after Gu’s father drank too much, he slept at home for an entire day after Gu Yi and the others left.
So, the two of them didn’t give Gu’s father a chance to drink with Ye Hao.
Whenever they saw Gu’s father raise his glass, the two of them would immediately drink with Ye Hao, one glass after another.
Gu Yi watched as two bottles of alcohol quickly disappeared.
She nudged Ye Hao with her foot.
"Drink slower, and drink less."
When Ye Hao looked at her, she softly said.
"They all say girls turn away from home after marriage, now I truly understand, look at how Yiyi cares."
Although Gu Yi spoke softly, everyone could still hear it.
Brother Gu couldn’t help but tease.
"It’s not him I’m worried about, I’m worried about Dad and my brothers. He should be considerate and not get the brothers drunk."
Gu Yi quickly interjected.
"Okay, let’s say you’re worried about the brothers, but Yiyi, Big Brother really needs to thank you."
Brother Gu had a look that said whatever you say is right.
"Thank me for what?"
"Thank you for the ideas you’ve given us, and all the help at the start. If it weren’t for you, your second brother and I would still be working hard for others, buying a house in the city, and bringing the kids to school in the city was something we couldn’t even dream of. Come, Big Brother toasts to you two."
Brother Gu spoke as he lifted his glass and stood.
"Brother, what are you saying, we’re siblings, it’s all expected."
Gu Yi didn’t want thanks from the family; as long as the family’s life was good, that was the best for her.
She just wanted to use her extra life’s experience to make life better for her family, so as not to waste the blessing of being reborn.
"Yiyi, we all know what you’ve done for the family. We may not mention it all the time, but your brothers won’t forget. No matter what help you may need from us in the future, we will be there, no questions asked. Here, I’ll drink first."
Brother Gu finished and downed his drink in one gulp.
"Yiyi, second brother also thanks you, I’ll down mine too."
Gu the second brother also lifted his glass and emptied it.
Ye Hao followed suit and downed his drink.
Gu Yi took a sip of her beverage.
"Ye Hao, Big Brother wants to drink with you. In our family, my sister is doted on. Now she’s grown and more sensible. I hope you take good care of her in the future. If she ever returns crying, I’ll be at your door."
Listening to her big brother’s words, Gu Yi felt a hint of sourness in her nose.
"Big Brother, rest assured, with Mom, Dad, brothers, and sister-in-laws here today, I promise you that I’ll take good care of Yiyi and never let her suffer any grievances."
After Ye Hao finished speaking, he downed another drink.
"Alright, you’re all good kids. It’s New Year’s; let’s not make it all about thanks and promises. Ye Hao works hard as a soldier out there. You and Yiyi should take care of and understand each other, okay?"
Gu’s mother added.
"Mom, I understand."
Gu Yi and Ye Hao said in unison.
"Alright, alright, let’s continue drinking. Tonight, we won’t leave until we’re drunk."
Gu’s father raised his glass and said with a smile.
"This old man, talking about getting drunk and not leaving. Do you think you’re a young guy in his twenties or thirties? You better listen to your mom, drink less and eat more."
Gu’s mother gave Gu’s father a playful glare.
"Right, right, listen to your mom. She’s always right."
Gu’s father gave in immediately.
Everyone couldn’t help but laugh at this scene.
Despite the women constantly trying to stop them, every man ended up drinking too much.
Sister-in-law and Second Sister-in-law first helped their husbands home.
After settling them, they came back for the two kids.
Gu Yi and Gu’s mother first helped Gu’s father onto the bed, then went to assist Ye Hao, who was slumped over the table.
Ye Hao, though drunk, still had a bit of awareness.
The moment Gu Yi touched him, he sat up straight.
He slowly turned his head, saw it was Gu Yi, and grinned at her.
"Wife."
Gu Yi looked at Ye Hao, feeling both annoyed and amused.
"Shall I help you to bed?"
"Okay."
Ye Hao, at this moment, seemed like a well-behaved child.
He stood up with Gu Yi’s support.
Gu’s mother also stepped forward to assist him.
"No need to support me, I just want my wife to help me. Wife, hehe."
Ye Hao broke free from Gu’s mother’s hold and grinned at Gu Yi, calling her wife again.
"This kid, even drunk like this, only wants you. Go and help him to the room."
Gu’s mother smiled and shook her head.
Gu Yi helped Ye Hao to bed, removed his coat and shoes.
After tucking him in, she was about to get some water.
"Wife, believe me, I will treat you well."
Ye Hao suddenly grabbed Gu Yi’s hand, sat up, and looked at her.
Gu Yi looked at Ye Hao and sat by the bed.
She looked at Ye Hao seriously.
"Ye Hao, I believe you."
After saying this, she cupped Ye Hao’s face and gave him a kiss.
"Be good and sleep well, okay?"
Gu Yi said gently.
Ye Hao nodded slightly while looking at Gu Yi, then obediently lay down.
But his eyes remained on Gu Yi.
Gu Yi leaned down once more and kissed Ye Hao’s eyes.
After Ye Hao fell asleep, Gu Yi went out to help Gu’s mother clean up the dishes.
"Yiyi, are you adapting well in B City?"
After tidying up, Gu Yi and Gu’s mother sat by the stove, and Gu’s mother started to ask.
"Mom, I’m adapting quite well. I even co-opened a store with a friend."
"Opened a store? Aren’t you still studying? If you want to learn something, you should focus on your studies. Making money can wait until after graduation. Besides, everyone’s energy is limited. Isn’t this too much for you? Are you in need of money? I still have some, I’ll get it for you."
Gu’s mother worried that Gu Yi was exhausting herself, juggling school and making money, wondering if she could cope.
Thinking about Gu Yi in B City, buying a house and studying, she assumed the money must be running low. If Gu Yi needed money, she still had some to give her.
Gu’s mother said this and got up to get her savings book.
"Mom, no need. It’s not because I’m out of money, I just wanted something to do. The store is next to our school, and I don’t need to be there all the time. I just check in whenever I’m free."
Gu Yi quickly stopped Gu’s mother.
"Then how do you find time to visit Ye Hao?"
"I do. I only have five days of classes a week, and when the weekend comes, I visit him. I return to school the next afternoon."
Gu Yi shared how she lived over there and talked about the new friends she’d made.
"Yiyi, if you encounter any difficulties, make sure to tell the family, don’t bear it alone, okay?"
Gu’s mother knew Gu Yi liked to share happy news but not worries.
Even though she said she seemed to be living easily in B City, Gu’s mother knew it couldn’t be that perfect.
If she faced any issues without telling the family, they wouldn’t know, let alone offer help.
So every time they met, Gu’s mother would say this to remind Gu Yi that the family would always be her support.
