Reborn in the 80s: She Rewrites Life with Radiance -
Chapter 131: New Year’s Sunrise
Chapter 131: Chapter 131: New Year’s Sunrise
The three of them dressed up and went out.
Just now, they were playing cards at home, with a heater under the table they were sitting around.
Gu Yi felt completely awake after stepping out and breathing in the crisp air.
Although it was New Year’s Eve and they were in the county, it wasn’t as lively as in later years.
Occasionally, they could hear the sound of children playing.
The three of them just kept walking without a clear destination.
"Why don’t we visit the temple on the outskirts?"
Ye Qian suddenly suggested.
"That temple is on the mountain, isn’t it? It’s late at night, which might not be convenient."
Gu Yiyi immediately thought it was impractical.
"Although the temple is on the mountain, I heard there are steps leading up, and tonight many people will go to be the first to burn incense. There’s also vegetarian food at the temple, sister-in-law, let’s go have some fun!"
Ye Qian was increasingly keen on the idea, feeling particularly excited.
"What do you think?"
Gu Yi turned to ask Ye Hao.
"If you want to go, then let’s go."
Ye Hao said while looking at Gu Yi.
"Is it far from here?"
"Not far, not far, it would only take an hour walking."
Ye Qian quickly said when she saw her sister-in-law was considering it.
"Alright, let’s take a walk there then."
Gu Yi noticed Ye Qian really wanted to go and thought it would be good for her to relax.
"You two wait here for a bit, I’ll go home and get a flashlight so we can see the way."
Ye Hao saw they had decided, so he told Gu Yi and the others, then ran back home.
Fortunately, they hadn’t walked far, and Ye Hao returned quickly.
The three started walking toward the outskirts again.
"Sister-in-law, how’s school going there? Is it hard?"
Ye Qian was quite envious when she learned her sister-in-law was studying in B City.
She felt her sister-in-law was remarkable, doing things others wouldn’t dare to think about.
"It was challenging at first, as you know. Even though I sometimes enjoy writing and drawing, my foundation was weak, so keeping up with other students was difficult. But our teachers are nice; seeing my weak foundation, they occasionally offered some help. Now I’ve adapted quite well."
Gu Yi talked about her school life.
This was the first time Ye Hao heard Gu Yi mention that she had some difficulties adapting initially; he always thought she adjusted well, not realizing she also faced challenges.
Ye Hao felt a bit distressed hearing this.
He gently squeezed Gu Yi’s hand to offer some comfort.
"It’s all in the past now. At that time, you had just been promoted and just returned to the military academy, so I didn’t tell you about these things."
Gu Yi understood Ye Hao’s feelings and smiled at him.
"Are you usually in the city, sister-in-law?"
Ye Qian quickly spoke up when she saw the loving glances her brother and sister-in-law exchanged, worried they might do something inappropriate for her presence.
"Yes, during the weekends I go to the military camp to visit your brother."
"How many years do you have to study there?"
"Two years. I have about a year and a half left until graduation."
"Have you thought about what you want to do after graduation, sister-in-law?"
"Yes, I want to start my own clothing brand."
This was an idea Gu Yi developed after starting school. Originally, she just wanted to learn more, and since Li Yitian had a shop, she thought about collaborating with him to set up the clothing store.
But after a semester, her thoughts changed.
After all, she had a lifetime of memories, so why not make good use of them?
"Sister-in-law, based on your observation over the past six months, don’t you think B City offers more opportunities than our county?"
"Yes, there are many more opportunities. Qianqian, have you thought about coming to B City with us?"
Gu Yi suddenly felt it would be great for Ye Qian to come to B City too. The development over there would outpace home significantly in the future.
Also, since it hadn’t fully developed yet, there were plenty of opportunities.
She had memories from her past life, and occasionally offering Ye Qian advice would surely lead to better developments than in the county.
If Ye Qian moved, Ye Fu and Ye’s mother would also come, allowing everyone to look after each other closer by.
The more Gu Yi thought about it, the more appealing it seemed.
"Me? I honestly never thought about it."
Ye Qian had never considered this before, but her sister-in-law’s suggestion made her start to consider its feasibility.
"Ye Hao, what do you think?"
Gu Yi turned to Ye Hao, wanting to know his view on this matter.
"I think it’s worth considering, but ultimately it should depend on Qianqian’s own wishes."
Ye Hao thought it was a good idea, but Ye Qian had just gained her footing in the county, and going to B City would mean giving up everything here.
"Qianqian, no pressure. You can think about it first. Even if you decide to go, there’s no rush. If you move to B City, you can still open a cake shop. I’ll check it out and see if I can find a place first."
"Okay, I’ll think about it carefully."
Ye Qian felt that if things could be as Gu Yi described, it would be ideal.
The bulk of the conversation was between Gu Yi and Ye Qian.
Ye Hao just held Gu Yi’s hand and used the flashlight to light their path.
After walking for over an hour, they were nearing the mountain’s base.
Like Ye Qian said, many people were coming here, though those coming this late were likely just here for fun, as they couldn’t compete for the first incense at this hour.
By the time they climbed up, it was almost three in the morning. The three of them burned incense, donated some money, then went to eat the vegetarian meal.
Tonight, eight-treasure porridge was being cooked—a large pot was kept hot, and whoever wanted some could ladle themselves a bowl.
After the meal, they wandered around some more.
The sky gradually started to brighten.
"Let’s head back."
Ye Hao suggested.
"Brother, let’s wait a bit longer. The sun will come out soon, and it’s rare for us to climb so high. I’ve heard the sunrise from this mountain is particularly beautiful."
Even though she was getting sleepy, Ye Qian wanted to see the sunrise before heading back.
"Then let’s wait a bit longer."
Gu Yi also thought it would be a shame to miss the sunrise since they were already here, even if they couldn’t light the first incense.
"Alright."
Ye Qian watched how her brother was so accommodating to her sister-in-law and suddenly felt like finding someone to date herself.
"Let’s go to the back mountain. If we’re late, we won’t find a good spot."
Ye Qian linked arms with her sister-in-law and headed to the back mountain.
Gu Yi’s other hand was still being held by Ye Hao, so when Ye Qian tugged on her, she tilted slightly.
"Let’s hurry over."
Gu Yi swayed Ye Hao’s arm.
When they arrived, quite a few people were already there.
They found a spot with fewer people to stand.
The winter sun rose later than usual.
By seven o’clock, a golden light pierced through the sea of clouds, and the sun slowly emerged.
Soon, the entire sun was visible.
The first sun of the new year shone on their intertwined hands, rising higher and higher.
A line of lyrics suddenly came to Gu Yi’s mind.
"For the rest of my life, it’s you in the wind and snow, you in the mundane, you in poverty, you in glory, it’s still you, the one my eyes fall upon."
Ye Qian watched the sweetness between her brother and sister-in-law, silently making her wish.
In the new year, may she meet the one destined for her.
Thinking of this, Wu Liang’s face flashed in her mind, and she shook her head.
She still hoped her other half would be someone her family approved of.
