Chapter 126: Chapter 126 Attitude Change

Gu Yi listened to Ye’s mother and smiled at her.

"Mom, I’ll go to my big brother’s house tomorrow morning. I bought some local specialties to let them take back. They are returning to the village tomorrow afternoon, so I’ll just make a quick trip and come back."

Tomorrow will be the 28th of the twelfth lunar month, and the Ye Family has always been in the city, so they spend the New Year in the city.

However, Gu’s father has been managing the house and crops in the village, and Gu’s mother took the children back to the village once they had their winter break, so Brother Gu and his family still return to the village for the New Year.

"Okay, you can go. Your parents have already gone back to the village, right?"

Ye’s mother met Gu’s mother a while back, and she said she’d go back to the village as soon as the kids were on holiday, so they should be back by now.

"Yes, they’re back. Ye Hao and I will go to the village after the New Year."

Afterwards, it was mostly Gu Yi and Ye’s mother talking, with Ye Hao and Ye Fu interjecting occasionally, but Ye Qian didn’t speak much.

"Everyone is tired today, let’s head back to rest early."

Ye Fu saw that Ye Qian looked exhausted and assumed she was tired, so he suggested everyone rest early.

"Did you say something to Qianqian in the kitchen?"

As soon as Ye Hao and Gu Yi entered the room, Ye Hao asked.

"Why are you asking that?"

Gu Yi thought Ye Hao was really sharp.

"Qianqian seemed pretty happy when she got home. She even cheerfully went to help you wash the dishes, but after you both came out, she seemed a bit distracted. You must have talked about something in the kitchen. Was it Wu Liang?"

Ye Hao followed up with another question.

"Yes, I noticed that Qianqian seems to have some feelings for that Wu Liang, so I tested her a little today, and she became distracted."

Gu Yi recounted her conversation with Ye Qian in the kitchen to Ye Hao.

Ye Hao fell silent after listening.

"I think we need to come up with a plan. We can’t just forcibly separate them; you know how stubborn Qianqian can be sometimes. If we push too hard and she insists on being with Wu Liang, it’ll be troublesome."

Gu Yi shared her thoughts with Ye Hao.

"Alright, I’ll figure something out. Don’t worry so much, just get some rest."

Ye Hao propped his head up with one hand, lying on his side next to Gu Yi.

While thinking about what to do, he lightly patted Gu Yi.

Gu Yi soon became drowsy from Ye Hao’s gentle patting, and she didn’t catch what Ye Hao said before she turned over and fell asleep.

In another room, Ye Fu and Ye’s mother were also discussing this matter.

"His father, today Hao Hao told me that he thinks Wu Liang isn’t suitable for Qianqian and that we shouldn’t try to pair them up."

Ye’s mother lay in bed, thought for a moment, and decided to tell Ye Fu.

"Did Hao Hao say why?"

Ye Fu holds his son Ye Hao in high regard. Given that Ye Hao is in the military and has seen a lot, there must be a reason for what he said.

"Hao Hao said that although Wu Liang seems decent on the surface, he’s actually very insecure inside and has a particularly arrogant personality. Qianqian is also stubborn, so if they’re together for a long time, Wu Liang wouldn’t treat Qianqian as well as he does now."

Ye’s mother relayed what Ye Hao said to Ye Fu.

"I had also noticed that Wu Liang seemed a bit like that, but I always thought that a man’s arrogance isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Let’s keep an eye on it. If it doesn’t work out, we can’t let Qianqian be delayed for a lifetime."

Ye Fu took Ye Hao’s words to heart.

"I think so too. If it really is as Hao Hao said, then we’ll truly let Qianqian down."

Ye’s mother sighed. Originally, they thought they had found someone good, but Ye Hao’s words left them uneasy.

The next day, Gu Yi got up early and took out the things she was bringing to the Gu Family, placing them in a bag.

She gave the rest to Ye’s mother.

"Mom, where’s Qianqian? I don’t see her."

Gu Yi looked around but didn’t see Ye Qian and asked Ye’s mother.

"She said she wanted to go to the store early to make bread. Don’t bother her. Breakfast will be ready soon, eat before you go to your brother’s."

In the morning, Ye’s mother noticed Ye Qian’s face didn’t look well, and when she asked, Ye Qian didn’t say much.

"Alright, it smells so good, I’m hungry already."

Gu Yi knew that Ye Qian was avoiding her, and it seemed that Ye Qian took last night’s conversation to heart, possibly thinking it over all night.

After breakfast, Gu Yi and Ye Hao went to her big brother’s house.

When they arrived, Brother Gu’s family was packing their things, preparing to return to the village in the afternoon.

Gu Yi and Ye Hao didn’t stay long; they delivered the items and mentioned they’d be visiting with Ye Hao on the second day of the New Year before heading back.

When Gu Yi and Ye Hao arrived at Ye Qian’s shop, Wu Liang was already there.

It was unclear if Ye Qian had said something to Wu Liang, but when Ye Hao and Gu Yi entered, both Wu Liang and Ye Qian seemed to have shifty eyes.

Gu Yi pretended nothing happened.

After entering, she stood next to Ye Qian.

"Stay in the shop for a while, I’ll go out and find you later, and we’ll head home together."

Ye Hao dropped Gu Yi off at the shop, greeted her, and went out.

For some reason, Ye Qian felt strangely guilty with her sister-in-law standing next to her.

She didn’t dare to look Wu Liang in the eye.

All morning, the few of them barely spoke.

Gu Yi kept watching Wu Liang when she had nothing else to do.

It made Wu Liang constantly make mistakes.

The more Gu Yi watched, the more disdain she felt.

"Sister-in-law, could you stop staring at Wu Liang? You’re making him nervous."

Ye Qian finally couldn’t hold back.

"If I don’t watch, how would I know what kind of person he is?"

Gu Yi replied deliberately.

"But you don’t have to stare like that, right?"

Ye Qian felt that her sister-in-law seemed like a different person since her return.

"He hasn’t done anything wrong, what’s he afraid of me looking at?"

Gu Yi said with some anger, wondering who she was doing this for, and after a few looks, Qian had already started defending him.

Seeing Gu Yi was upset, Ye Qian didn’t continue speaking.

When Ye Hao came in, he noticed the atmosphere was off.

He cast a cold glance at Wu Liang.

Wu Liang didn’t know why, but in front of this couple, he always felt especially nervous.

Whenever they looked at him, he felt uneasy all over.

Just then, Ye Fu came in to deliver lunch.

"Yiyi, why don’t you and Ye Hao go home for lunch, and don’t come this afternoon, I’ll handle things here."

Ye Fu greeted Gu Yi with a smile, as if he hadn’t noticed the tense atmosphere.

"Alright, Dad, Ye Hao and I will head home now."

Gu Yi replied with a smile to Ye Fu, and left with Ye Hao.

"Qianqian, Wu Liang, you guys eat too."

Ye Fu invited Ye Qian and them to eat.

Wu Liang clearly sensed that Ye Fu’s gaze occasionally drifted towards him.

By the end of the day, Wu Liang felt somewhat overwhelmed.

Originally, Ye Fu and Ye’s mother treated him quite well, and he could tell that Ye Family’s parents wanted him and Ye Qian to be together.

He was also happy about it, always in a good mood, feeling cheerful and confident, thinking it would be smooth to be with Ye Qian.

Unexpectedly, since Ye Hao and Gu Yi returned, their family’s attitude had changed.

It kept him on edge all day, fearing he’d make a mistake somewhere.

In the evening, Ye Qian dawdled until Ye Fu went home first.

She hurriedly went up to comfort Wu Liang.

But as soon as Wu Liang saw her, he thought about her brother and sister-in-law and faced her with impatience.

"You should go home. I need to sleep."

Seeing his attitude, Ye Qian also felt somewhat defeated.
