Chapter 435: Chapter 300: Outcome_2
There was a moment when she felt a pang of guilt. After all, the girl in question was just an ordinary young girl with the same right to pursue happiness, suddenly subjected to such harm—it’s probable she felt too ashamed to go on living.
In reality, Xiao Yuwen hadn’t explicitly detailed how they should treat Lin Chuxia, but her mind automatically filled in the blanks with the most brutal of treatments.
According to the timeline, by now Lin Chuxia should have already fallen into the hands of the Xiao family’s father and son, right? Then..., the corners of her mouth curled into an involuntary smile.
Zhang Erniu and Rao Xue were following the same doctor, the gynecologist Wang Chunli.
When assigned to Wang Chunli, Zhang Erniu was thrilled; as she commented, any department would make her happy as long as she could stay.
Rao Xue was different—she disliked the obstetrics and gynecology department intensely. As a nurse in that department, she had to do the dirtiest and most tiring jobs.
She had requested a different mentor from the leadership, but her plea was rejected.
This was why Wang Chunli preferred the honest and sincere Zhang Erniu. However, she couldn’t neglect to teach Rao Xue, though she certainly did so unwillingly.
Having taken almost a month off, Rao Xue was told by Wang Chunli to learn what Zhang Erniu had covered during that time.
After explaining for half a day and noticing Rao Xue’s incessant silly laughter, Zhang Erniu stopped and gently nudged her.
Snapping back to reality, Rao Xue glared at her: "What do you want?"
"Did you understand everything I’ve explained?"
"Of course, you think I’m as dumb as you are?" Rao Xue shot her a look, "To give you a needle and for you to use it like a club?"
"I’m worried you won’t get it and will be reprimanded," Zhang Erniu said with an embarrassed face, "I’ll continue explaining then."
Rao Xue waved her off: "No need, just give me your notebook, and I’ll understand everything."
Afraid that Rao Xue would lose her precious notes, Zhang Erniu suggested: "How about I make you a fresh copy instead?"
"That will do." Rao Xue’s eyes rolled, "By the way, do you still keep in touch with Lin Chuxia?"
Zhang Erniu scratched her head: "I haven’t seen her for quite a few days."
"Can you stop speaking in your local dialect?" Rao Xue looked at her disdainfully, "How long is ’quite a few days’?"
Zhang Erniu calculated with her eyes rolling: "Over three months."
"Oh." Rao Xue responded and fell silent. In fact, she was just looking for a chance to mention Chuxia’s name to feel better.
She wasn’t afraid of her actions coming back to bite her; she had simply run into an old comrade while visiting and had a disagreement with Chuxia that escalated into a few blows, and the person who knocked Chuxia out wasn’t her—what did it have to do with her?
As for not reporting the matter, she had her excuses; after all, it involved the Zhou family’s son-in-law, and she thought it was a family matter and didn’t want to interfere.
The more she thought about it, the more she looked forward to the Zhou family quickly learning of Lin Chuxia’s misfortune. Then, that would be her opportunity.
Perhaps because of this incident, Zhou Mikang won’t marry her, but she couldn’t care less. What she couldn’t have, she wouldn’t let the likes of Lin Chuxia, who was far inferior to her, have either!
"What happened to Chuxia?" Zhang Erniu nudged Rao Xue, "Did you hear something about Chuxia?"
She was only naive, not stupid. After working with Rao Xue, Erniu was aware that Rao Xue enjoyed slandering Chuxia the most. In fact, many of their colleagues at the military hospital truly believed Chuxia was the kind of bad woman who liked to seduce men.
Rao Xue’s intentions were clear to Erniu, who had tried to clear Chuxia’s name behind her back; unfortunately, her colleagues all had a favorable impression of Commander Zhou and didn’t believe her words at all.
A few times, Erniu had bravely sought out the Commander to report the misunderstandings about Chuxia, but each time, as she approached the office, her calves quivering, she was scared off.
"Lin Chuxia..." Rao Xue’s voice abruptly halted, her eyes widening in disbelief, staring at the approaching Chuxia as if seeing a ghost, "You... why are you here?"
"Disappointed?"
"Chuxia!" Zhang Erniu exclaimed joyously as she grabbed Chuxia’s arm, "We were just talking about you."
"What about me?"
Noticing one side of Chuxia’s face was swollen, Zhang Erniu quickly opened a drawer to find some ointment: "Chuxia, why is your face swollen? Let me apply some for you."
"No need." Chuxia stepped forward and grabbed Rao Xue, "Answer me, seeing me disappoints you, doesn’t it?"
"You..." Rao Xue sized her up, furrowing her brow deeply, wondering how Chuxia could have escaped with the strength those two men possessed.
It simply wasn’t possible!
There was only one possibility left!
Rao Xue’s eyes lit up: "Lin Chuxia, how did they let you go?"
"What do you think?" Chuxia narrowed her eyes, "I’m the kind of person who repays kindness as well as vengeance. So now...," as she spoke, she lifted her hand and slapped Rao Xue across the face, left and right, causing Rao Xue’s cheeks to swell visibly.
Not expecting Chuxia to strike, Rao Xue covered her face in disbelief and then cried out as she lunged toward Chuxia, but, alas, her hands never reached even an inch of Chuxia. Unbeknownst to her, Zhou Mikang had already stepped behind her and was now lifting her up by her collar, like one would a chicken, waiting for Chuxia outside.
"Chuxia, what... what exactly happened?" It wasn’t until Zhou Mikang carried Rao Xue away that Zhang Erniu grasped Chuxia’s sleeve, chattering teeth, and managed to ask.
"She tried to push me into a pit of fire, but I escaped on my own." Chuxia gently held Zhang Erniu’s hand, comforting her with a soft voice, "I know you’ve been speaking well of me during this time; I’m aware of it all. I’ve got something to attend to right now, and I’ll find you later." Having finished speaking, she turned and walked away, Zhou Mikang was outside holding Rao Xue like a small chicken, waiting for her.(To be continued.
