Chapter 434: Chapter 300: Outcome

It was before dawn.

--------------

Rao Xue was ecstatic, a kind that made her hysterical.

She loved Zhou Mikang, and there was no doubt about it; she had always hoped that one day she could win his favor.

She also knew the reason he wasn’t marrying—he couldn’t let go of a past relationship.

Therefore, she patiently waited, knowing that when a man’s heart harbored another woman, no amount of effort would suffice; thus, waiting was preferable.

She had finally grown up but never got a chance to get close to him. Her sister had been in a relationship, and seeing her sister’s happiness, she had always longed for her own to arrive. Her sister knew her feelings well and had advised her many times that Zhou Mikang was not a suitable husband, that she should marry a man who was attentive and caring.

But she just liked him, and no matter how much her sister advised, she couldn’t let go.

Her family supported her feelings. The Zhou family had a prominent background; although the Rao Family used to be comparable to the Zhou family, after their grandfather retired, there was no efficient successor, and the Rao Family had fallen from the peak to the middle of the pyramid. If they could connect with the still-prominent Zhou family, that would indeed make them happy.

Unfortunately, the Rao Family’s resources were no longer enough to bring Rao Xue closer to Zhou Mikang until the recruitment of medical soldiers, finally giving her a chance to be by his side, bubbles of joy bubbling up from the bottom of her heart.

However, as the medical team got nearer to him, she still didn’t have many opportunities to get close to him. Mainly, his attitude was always cold and harsh, and he had even forcefully thrown her out; hence, by the end of the new recruits’ period, there hadn’t been any progress between them.

Fortunately, when being assigned, he was placed in Team A. Ironically, just as she was getting used to her work environment, the Zhou family encountered trouble.

Truth be told, she was very happy when the Zhou family faced problems, thinking her opportunity had finally arrived, but her parents, fearing she might take excessive actions, forcefully confined her at home.

She pleaded with her sister, whom she shared a deep bond with, to let her go out, but her usually obliging sister refused, saying that the Zhou family was truly finished this time and that she couldn’t watch her throw herself into the fire.

If throwing herself into the fire could win Zhou Mikang’s affection, she was willing. She didn’t want to escape; however, being watched around the clock, none would listen to her, so where could she escape?

Thus, only when the Zhou family’s troubles were resolved did she gain her freedom.

Her parents didn’t think they had done wrong but instead told her that Zhou Mikang had gotten married and to give up on that notion.

They also said that although they thought an alliance with the Zhou family was good, after this event, both families would one day become irreconcilable enemies; they didn’t want to end up like the Xiao family—whose situation when they had married into the Zhou family was similar to the current situation between the Zhou and Rao families.

He had actually gotten married?!

This news had completely shocked her; why hadn’t she received even a hint of news before he got married?

She requested her sister to investigate, and the result confirmed that Zhou Mikang indeed had gotten married.

Who was the bride? That was the first thing she wanted to know after learning about his marriage.

Her sister, through her future brother-in-law’s connections, found out that Zhou Mikang had married a rural female soldier whose name was unknown.

In her mind, Lin Chuxia immediately appeared. The Lin Chuxia who had joined the army with her, who was even more fragile than she was.

They had talked, and Lin Chuxia had said she wasn’t interested in Zhou Mikang; yet, why had she silently stolen her beloved?

This rage was nearly driving her mad.

She went back to work but never saw Zhou Mikang appear.

Until yesterday, Xiao Yuwen found her.

Xiao Yuwen and her sister were friends. She was well aware of the grievances between him and the Zhou family and, based on the principle that the enemy of her beloved was her enemy, she didn’t give Xiao Yuwen a warm welcome.

Yet, he told her that if she helped him with a small favor, she could obtain the coveted position of Zhou Mikang’s wife.

Whether or not she could ultimately become Zhou Mikang’s wife, getting rid of the woman by his side was something she was more than happy to do.

It turned out to be so easy!

If Zhou Mikang found out his young wife had been played by another man, would he still like her? Would he still let her enter the doors of the Zhou family?

She believed that, with the incident involving Ye Meiru, this matter would be Zhou Mikang’s greatest taboo, and she was confident that Lin Chuxia was absolutely doomed this time!
