Chapter 59: His Gift For Future
Gabriel Frost was one big mystery to Diane.
He didn’t let her go, didn’t want to be near her, but would get extremely jealous like a Lion in safari, being the only male.
She couldn’t understand his character...in her past life, he was distant but not so cruel.
Even though she understood his reasons, some of his words and actions were just too much.
Diane stepped out of the house, her arms crossed over her chest.
She didn’t know why she had agreed to follow Gabriel—maybe it was curiosity, maybe it was something else entirely.
Gabriel was beside his car, opening the passenger door for her.
His green eyes were dark in the night, but there was something...like it was showing kindness to her.
Something unhinged...
"Get in," he murmured.
Diane hesitated for only a moment before sliding inside.
As Gabriel drove through the quiet city streets, she watched him from the corner of her eye.
His grip on the steering wheel was tight, his knuckles bruised from the fight looked painful enough to be putting pressure on them.
He looked deep in thought—no, consumed by something.
Finally, she broke the silence. "Where are we going?"
Gabriel didn’t answer right away.
Then, without taking his eyes off the road, he said, "To my clinic. I have something for you."
Diane frowned but didn’t question it.
Not yet...there was this strange side of his again.
They arrived at Gabriel’s private clinic.
The building was empty at this hour, all the lights dimmed except for the ones in his office.
Gabriel led her inside, his hand on the small of her back, guiding her down the sterile white hallway.
Diane felt a strange sense of electricity travel through her spine.
"You’re not going to dissect me, are you?" she joked, half-serious.
Gabriel chuckled darkly. "Not tonight."
They reached his office, and Gabriel locked the door behind them.
Diane leaned against the desk, arms crossed once again.
"Alright. What is this all about?"
Gabriel walked over to a sleek black cabinet, unlocking it with a key.
From inside, he pulled out a small glass vial filled with an amber-colored liquid.
He held it up, letting the low light catch the way it swirled.
Diane’s brows furrowed. "What is that?"
Gabriel didn’t answer immediately.
He walked over to her, taking her hand and pressing the vial into her palm.
His fingers curled over hers, making sure she held it firmly.
"When the time is right," he murmured, his voice low and intense, "you’ll know how to use it."
Diane’s breath hitched. "Gabriel—what is this?"
He smiled. "A gift."
She stared at the vial in her hand, suspicion clawing at the back of her mind. "You’re not going to tell me, are you?"
Gabriel leaned in, his lips brushed against her ear. "No."
Diane exhaled sharply, stepping back. "You’re insane."
Gabriel tilted his head. "You say that like it’s a bad thing."
Diane rolled her eyes, pocketing the vial. "If I find out this is poison—"
Gabriel smirked. "Then I trust you’ll use it wisely."
Diane should have left.
She should have turned around, walked out of the clinic, and gone home.
But she didn’t.
Instead, she found herself sitting on the black leather couch in Gabriel’s office, watching him as he leaned against his desk, his fingers tapped against the surface.
There was something off about him tonight. Something more than usual.
Finally, she sighed. "Alright. What the hell is going on with you?"
Gabriel’s smirk disappeared slightly.
For a long moment, he didn’t answer.
Then, finally, he ran a hand through his hair, his jaw clenching.
"That night," he said quietly. "On the balcony."
Diane stiffened.
She knew exactly which night he meant.
"The night you nearly let me fall," she murmured.
Gabriel’s green eyes rolled a little. "The night I should have let you fall."
Diane swallowed hard.
Gabriel let out a slow breath, his gaze looked distant. "But I didn’t."
There was silence.
Then—
"Because I love you."
Diane’s heart stopped.
Her fingers curled into the leather couch, her breath catching in her throat.
Gabriel didn’t move, didn’t blink. He just stared at her, as if waiting for something.
A reaction.
A rejection.
Diane forced a shaky laugh. "You what?"
Gabriel tilted his head. "I love you, Diane."
Diane shook her head. "No. No, you hate me. You said you hate me."
Gabriel let out a low, humorless chuckle. "I do. I hate you so much that I can’t breathe without you."
Diane’s chest ached so hardly, she thought she was going to explode from the inside.
Gabriel took a step closer.
"I tried, Diane. I tried to kill the feeling. I tried to rip you out of me, to destroy you the way you destroyed me." His voice dropped to a whisper.
"But I can’t."
Diane licked her lips, her heart raced like a mad horse. "Gabriel..."
His fingers brushed against her chin, tilting her face up. "You ruined me."
She swallowed hard. "You ruined me first."
Gabriel exhaled sharply, a small smirk tugging at his lips. "Then let’s ruin each other completely."
Diane closed her eyes, trying to calm herself. "This... this isn’t love, Gabriel."
His grip tightened slightly. "Then what is it?"
Diane didn’t have an answer.
Because she didn’t know.
Gabriel leaned in, his lips ghosting over hers. "Say you hate me."
Diane’s breath was shaky. "I hate you."
Gabriel smirked. "Liar."
And then he kissed her.
It wasn’t soft. It wasn’t gentle.
It was war.
Diane pushed him back against the desk, her hands fisting his shirt.
Gabriel groaned against her lips, gripping her waist, pulling her closer.
Her heart was pounding, her mind screaming at her to stop, to pull away—
But she couldn’t.
She was drowning in him.
Gabriel pulled back slightly, his forehead pressed against hers.
His breathing was ragged, his hands still holding her like he was afraid she’d disappear.
"You’re mine," he whispered.
Diane exhaled shakily. "You’re crazy."
Gabriel grinned. "And you love it."
Diane shoved him away, standing up. "I need to go."
Gabriel let her.
But as she reached the door, his voice stopped her.
"Diane."
She turned.
"Don’t break my heart again."
Diane swallowed hard.
And then she walked out.
But as she stepped into the cold night, her fingers tightened around the vial in her pocket.
And she realised-
Gabriel wasn’t the only one plotting in this life.
She was too...but now, with him...
