Chapter 665: 467 Seven-Step Snake_2

Chief Tong furrowed his brow, observing the posture of a desperate criminal.

Although he was the town chief and had not handled any major cases, on his turf, no one could act recklessly. He gave a signal to one of his officers, "Go find a rake."

Rakes are used for turning soil and are exceedingly sharp, and with long handles, there was no need to worry if the other side had knives.

Zhao Hu did not enjoy farming, but he would plant a little something now and then. Consequently, there were some farming tools to be found around his house.

Seeing the utensil brandished by the other party, the driver became somewhat intimidated.

But the orders from his superiors were clear, if Su Xiaofeng did not comply obediently, they were to make her disappear, and nothing was simpler than making a person vanish.

Thinking this, the driver looked around the room, which was made of straw.

If his actions failed, naturally someone else would come to complete the task. Thus, all he had to do was wait quietly, doing nothing.

"Snake, snake!" Two villagers guarding the back door heard something at the entrance. On closer inspection, several large snakes were slithering inside: "Chief, there are snakes, and they’re poisonous Seven-Step Snakes."

What’s known as the Seven-Step Snake is that if you get bitten, you cannot take more than seven steps. If you do, by the time you reach the seventh step, death is certain.

In the countryside, the Seven-Step Snake is a terrifying legend. Everyone is afraid of seeing one, and even more so of being bitten.

If it truly bites you, death is indeed certain.

The two villagers guarding the back door, upon seeing the Seven-Step Snakes, were trembling in their legs, whispering quietly while retreating, fearing the snakes would suddenly leap up and bite them.

Not far from Zhao Hu’s backyard was a cemetery. It was normal for snakes to be coming and going there, but having several appear at once was abnormal.

Even more so when they were rare Seven-Step Snakes.

Xiaofeng heard about the snakes and stood up.

The children, possibly seeing snakes for the first time, had a hint of excitement in their eyes.

"Uncle Dog, help me. I don’t want to get bitten by a snake," Zhao Hu said fearfully, hearing that there were snakes in his house, worried one might slither over and bite him.

"It’s not good, someone has locked the front door." A villager tried to open the front door only to find it had been locked by someone and couldn’t be opened at all.

With snakes at the back door and the front door locked, they were being trapped inside for the snakes to poison them to death.

Seeing this scene, the driver felt smug: "I told you, you weren’t going to have a good day."

Xiaofeng sneered and walked to the front door, lifting her leg and kicking at it.

With a bang, the door stood firm, not budging an inch.

Useless.

Xiaofeng probably understood at that moment. Xiaoqi had said that the space power would only activate when someone posed a threat to her and Xiaobao’s safety.

At this very moment, the door did not threaten her and Erbao’s life, so the space power was unavailable.

"Ha ha, it seems that all the kung fu you showed just now was nothing but a show, with no real strength behind it," the driver exclaimed with great excitement upon seeing the event.

"Ah." A snake had climbed up a villager’s thigh, causing the villager to stand perfectly still, daring not to move an inch.

"Brother, those three don’t look like they are easy to mess with. Let’s not go forward, we can just scare the villagers here," the smaller Seven-Step Snake said to another snake.

"Look how scared you’ve made him, he’ll probably wet his pants any minute now," the larger one glanced ahead: "There’s a little boy who’s been staring at us."

Gu Dabao took small steps forward.

Xiaofeng was alarmed: "Dabao, where are you going?"

Gu Dabao smiled at Xiaofeng: "Mom, I want to go have a look at the snakes."

It seemed like he could understand the snakes’ conversation, but he wasn’t sure, uncertain if he had misheard.

"Don’t go, the snake is deadly," Xiaofeng scooped him up.

Seeing the little boy not coming over, the larger snake breathed a sigh of relief and said to the smaller one: "Let’s go, brother. I have a feeling there’s danger in here."

"Big brother, I’ll listen to you," the smaller one responded.

"Uncle Dog, save me!" the villager wrapped by the snake cried, his legs shaking like a sieve: "Uncle Dog, save me quickly!"

"Don’t move," Uncle Dog took the rake from one of the officers: "I’ll shove it away, you run right after."

Gu Dabao stared at the snakes on the ground, commanding like a king: "You can’t bite people, hurry up and leave."

The snakes, as if understanding, gave an excited twist of their bodies and scrambled away quicker than the rest.

Before Uncle Dog could act with the rake, the snakes had already slithered back to where they had come from.

The people present looked at each other in disbelief.
