Chapter 83: A new Linye.
Standing there, the baron could only grit his teeth angrily as he stared at the paper.
There was nothing more he could do; conscience-wise, he knew pleading for a second chance would get him nowhere.
Not to mention, the vibe of the two women standing behind the prince was not so much as friendly.
If he were to speak the wrong words, he was afraid they might just cut off his head.
A valid reason to be scared.
Looking to the side, the baron gently placed the paper on the table and then bowed his head.
"It was an honor to serve this kingdom."
And with that, he exited the room.
Although, throughout the entire event, Sylus couldn’t help but show he was not interested in the man in any way.
As soon as the baron left the room, Sylus uttered to the rest at the table,
"Please hurry up; leave if your name is no longer on the list. I really don’t have all the time in the world."
Immediately, everyone started checking their names on the list.
The fear etched on their faces when they saw another noble leave the room was loud and discernible.
In less than a couple of minutes, of the eighteen nobles that were present, only seven remained sitting at the table.
These people were now to be considered higher nobles, far bigger than what they were before.
Since the county was divided into five separate districts, Sylus assigned each noble to them.
The Barony of Ashfell was in charge of the Blue District, with the new name being Ashport Town. fre\e(w)ebn ov.e l\. co.m
The Barony of Velden was in charge of the Yellow District, new name: Veldenworth.
For the Green District, it was the Barony of Eesten, with the new name Eastgroove. fr\eewe.bn(o)v\el.c(o)m
A former lord was upgraded to the Barony of Yiol Daini and given control over the Red District, called Thornmere Town.
And lastly, the Barony of Blackridge, ruling over the new town: Blackridge.
Each of these places was key to improving the city, with Yiol Daini being the one with the most responsibility, since he would be ruling the former lesser city.
As for the remaining two nobles, the priestess Sandra Queens was already in charge of half of Ashport Town, which was where the sacred ground was—a place Sylus intends to do research on later.
In conclusion, Sylus would go around to give this new team a name.
"From this moment on, every single one of you will work for the betterment of this city. If you are incapable, speak now, and I shall find your replacement."
Everyone kept quiet, proving they were ready.
"Good. These will be where we do our meetings weekly to report progress. In addition to that, you will now be called *The Pillars*, directing servants under me, your lord."
Sylus flapped his fingers.
And right then, they all noticed a sigil appear on different parts of their bodies—a sign of the master they serve.
Not only that, with the appearance of the sigil, these people would prove to be more effective than they previously were. Exactly what Sylus needed.
With a swift move, Sylus stood up from his chair.
"The meeting is over for the day. Go on and carry out your duties. I expect to hear good news from you in a week’s time."
He paused.
"Oh, and Yiol..."
Yiol, obviously nervous, turned to look at Sylus. "Yes, my lord..."
"I know it is going to be difficult for you, so try and build a good relationship with your people; that should be the first thing you do."
"Y-yes, my lord."
Nodding his head, Sylus exited the room with Zani and Sophia following behind him.
Sylus had not even left the door when he heard the heavy, relieved sigh that left the nobles’ mouths.
He simply shook his head with a smile and left.
...
Later that night.
Sylus was lying on the bed, his gaze fixed on the ceiling.
At the side of the room was Zani, who was mixing tea for him right on top of the working table.
Meanwhile, Sophia was pulling off his shoes to change him out of his attire into a more comfortable one.
"Master, I have a question," Sophia spoke, gently putting one shoe on the ground before moving to the other leg.
"Don’t disturb him; you can clearly see he is tired," Zani uttered, walking toward Sylus with the tea she had just made.
She placed it on the table beside him and said,
"I suggest you drink it while it’s warm and fall asleep right after. It won’t be any good if you fall ill on us."
As she spoke, she glanced at Sophia, who was already giving her the death stare.
The fact that she had the nerve to interrupt her while she was speaking to her master angered her. She had already begun emitting her dark mist from her body when Sylus uttered...
"Yeah, I think you’re right. I am too tired to move a muscle from here."
Sophia stood up with haste, walked toward the side of the bed, and shoved Zani out of the way, just so she could get Sylus to see her.
"You’re right, you can rest up. I’ll feed your tea to you and tuck you in so you fall asleep fa—"
Before she could complete her words, Zani grabbed her by the hand.
"Let him recuperate; your ranting is not doing him any good."
"Hey! Let go of me. How dare you interrupt a master-servant bond?"
Sophia tried to fight back, but Zani was too imposing, making it easier for her to drag the angel of death out of the room with ease.
Finally, Sylus had the entire room all to himself.
Meanwhile, outside the room...
It wasn’t until Zani got a bit further away from the room that she finally let go of Sophia’s hand.
But the moment she did that, Sophia attacked.
"I told you I’d kill you."
She swung her hand, sending a gust of mist toward Zani.
