Reborn As Divine Doctor to Rule the World
Chapter 505 - 507: Counterplotting

Chapter 505: Chapter 507: Counterplotting

The Clan Leader sighed and said, "Amur is full of ambition and adept at disguise, acting humble and respectful, obedient and filial before our tribespeople and Elders."

"But in reality, he has done many things that violate moral principles in secret, such as using living people to cultivate Gu insects, which is already a taboo; yet, he recklessly persists."

Shao He couldn’t help but ask, "What is ’using people to cultivate Gu’?"

"It means raising a Gu insect inside a person’s body, letting it feed on the person’s essence and blood, the younger the better. I discovered this unintentionally, and after he found out I knew his secret, he bided his time before dealing me a lethal blow," the Clan Leader said, clenching his fists in fury.

I should not have hesitated at the beginning; otherwise, I wouldn’t have ended up in such a state.

"She’s a complete demon, the most evil, the most treacherous being," Shao He said through gritted teeth.

I used to sigh at Amur’s deep affections, never expecting it all to be an act. How could such a fickle person possibly have any true feelings?

Even if he did, any woman who he loved would be extremely miserable. No wonder she’d rather remain asleep than awaken.

After a moment of contemplation, Shao He said, "Since the Clan Leader is aware of this, you must have made some arrangements, right?"

"Hmm!" The Clan Leader nodded and said, "I plan to use this opportunity to expose his misdeeds."

"What’s your plan?"

The Clan Leader moved closer to Shao He and quietly shared his plan, causing Shao He to nod in agreement again and again.

"The method is somewhat dangerous, but it’s indeed feasible. I am willing to assist you, hoping you will let us leave after it’s done."

"Of course, that’s no problem," the Clan Leader promised emphatically.

After the Clan Leader left, there was a knock at the door. Shao He opened it to find the person standing outside unsurprising. She turned back into the room and lit a candle.

The fire illuminated the entire room, and also the person who followed her in.

Pei Huaian had overheard their conversation from outside the door, "Do you really plan to help him?"

"The person has already been awakened, and besides, we have no other choice," Shao He said, feeling for the first time that her medical skills were not strong enough.

Indeed, there is always someone better out there.

Pei Huaian felt a deep sense of guilt because it was his involvement that had resulted in Shao He’s predicament.

"It’s my fault for not protecting you."

Shao He shook her head, "This has nothing to do with you; even if you weren’t here, he would have found me."

"I’ll stay with you," Pei Huaian said resolutely.

Shao He smiled, "Okay."

Pei Huaian embraced Shao He, and they leaned on each other, enjoying the warmth of one another.

Amur looked at the struggling subject in front of him, cackling wildly, "Hahaha, I’ve succeeded. This is wonderful; I’ve finally done it!"

He immediately ordered the preparations for a sacrificial event and summoned the Elders to discuss some matters.

"What? Leave the valley?" the Second Elder stood up abruptly, shocked by the proposition.

It was known that those from the valley were not allowed to leave; it was a rule of the Witch tribe, and now he intended to break it, causing inevitable surprise.

"We have been in the valley for years, and who among our people doesn’t want to go out and see the world? Rather than have them leave in secret, it’s better to leave openly," Amur said coldly, his eyes flickering with an unusual light.

"I object," the Second Elder was the first to disagree.

He didn’t think the outside world was any better; in fact, he felt that with the constant wars, it was fraught with danger, and he didn’t want his people to be dragged into conflicts.

"I also object. Last night I observed the stars and noticed that the Ziwei star was dimming, with signs of falling, indicating that an Emperor somewhere may be overthrown soon," the Third Elder said.

Enduring his anger, Amur patiently persuaded, "If that’s the case, we could help make a name for the Southern Frontier and become heroes."

"We don’t care about fame and fortune; what we need is a peaceful life," the Second Elder looked at Amur, hoping he wouldn’t be confused by impulses.

The Third Elder also spoke to persuade, "Our life is peaceful now; why not maintain it that way?"

"Peaceful? Now that the Clan Leader lies unconscious, are we to wait indefinitely? It would be better to elect a new Clan Leader during the sacrifice three days from now."

"That’s unacceptable!" the two exclaimed in unison.

The Third Elder was the first to speak, "Although the Clan Leader is currently incapacitated at the wedding, he is not deceased. It wouldn’t be proper to elect a new Clan Leader."

"Exactly, I agree with the Third Elder," the Second Elder added.

Seeing their reaction, Amur knew they had always been loyal to the Clan Leader, which was why he had been scheming to get rid of the Clan Leader all along.

If the Clan Leader didn’t die, he would never be able to take his place or have a say.

"Alas, I don’t want to elect a new Clan Leader, but the Doctor we brought in said that the Clan Leader’s life may not last much longer," Amur pretended to be sorrowful, but a sliver of venom flashed in his downcast eyes.

"How could this be?" the Second Elder asked, agitated.

Only the Third Elder, standing to the side, remained silent, lost in thought.

Seeing this, Amur continued, "This is why I feel it’s necessary to elect a new Clan Leader."

"The Priestly ceremonies are starting tomorrow. How about you temporarily stand in for the Clan Leader?" the Third Elder suddenly suggested.

This coincided exactly with Amur’s desires, and he immediately nodded in joy.

"You can be assured, Esteemed Elders, I will handle the ceremonies properly," Amur said, with an extremely sincere look in his eyes.
