Pei Huaian pursed his lips and did not answer, but his expression said it all.

"Since that’s the case, don’t blame me for being impolite," the man in the black robe said ominously.

After Pei Huaian left, The Emperor took a deep breath. He had been too indulgent these past years, but since Huaian had finally found a girl he liked, he would let it pass this time.

The next day, a horse-drawn carriage slowly made its way towards the city gate.

Pei Huaian looked out the window, his gaze slowly gathering a hint of cold glint.

Shao He was still in a drowsy sleep, having remained unconscious since the night before.

The two embraced quietly, cherishing this moment of peace.

After a while, they looked at each other and smiled, as if all was understood without words.
