Chapter 481: Chapter 483: The Game Begins
Ah Mo looked up at the Man in Black Robe in front of him, his eyes sharp and cold as ice, "Who are you?"
The Man in Black Robe looked at him and sneered, "It doesn’t matter who we are, what matters is that you’re going to Hell!"
With that, the Man in Black Robe turned and walked away.
Ah Mo struggled desperately but in the end was force-fed a medicine pill and then fell unconscious.
"Milord, everything is ready," Ah Er, kneeling before the Man in Black Robe, reported.
His attitude was extremely respectful, seemingly very afraid of the person before him.
"Oh?" The Man in Black Robe looked at the black gloves in his hand as a sinister smile curled his lips.
"The game officially begins. You go back and get ready. Make sure not to kill them too quickly for me, I want to keep them alive to play with slowly. That will be more interesting," the Man in Black Robe said, striding forward.
Ah Er, seeing the departing figure, finally let out a sigh of relief.
The sky had completely darkened, and a cold wind caused people to shiver uncontrollably.
Shao He and the others followed the path to Nameless Village and before even entering, they saw someone in the bushes; moving closer, they recognized it was Ah Mo.
Shao He was shocked and quickly went forward to support the staggering person, asking with concern, "Ah Mo, what happened to you?"
Ah Mo looked at her with a pale face and squeezed out a weak voice from his throat, "Quick... save... save people..."
He fainted before finishing his sentence.
Pei Hanze picked up the person and ran towards Nameless Village.
The village seemed peaceful, not at all like it was suffering from any plague.
Why did Luo Cheng say there was a problem here? But now was not the time to think about that.
They arrived at a house and saw a woman inside, to whom they said, "Excuse us, may we stay here for the night? One of my friends is injured."
The woman looked at them somewhat nervously and nodded, then pointed towards a house not far away.
After entering the house, Shao He immediately took out a needle pack and golden sore medicine, beginning to treat Ah Mo’s injuries.
Ah Mo was seriously injured but luckily, it was not life-threatening. Shao He could only deal with his external wounds, finally wrapping his wound tightly with bandages to prevent infection.
Exhausted after all this, she collapsed onto the table, breathing heavily and covered in sweat.
After a moment to catch her breath, Shao He sat up straight and wiped the sweat from her forehead.
"Why would Ah Mo be injured so badly alone? Pei Huaian, what on Earth happened to you?" Shao He murmured to herself.
She felt that tonight’s events were too strange, but couldn’t pinpoint what was off.
Pei Hanze came over with some freshly brewed medicine, placing it on the table before the pensive figure.
"Thinking about Pei Huaian again?"
Without denying, Shao He nodded, picked up the soup medicine, and went to the bedside to feed the unconscious man, sip by sip.
"He will be fine, don’t worry!" Pei Hanze patted her shoulder and said, "I believe he will turn danger into safety. You also need to take good care of yourself!"
Shao He was slightly stunned, her eyes instantly moistened.
"Thank you!" Shao He took a deep breath and said, lowering her head.
Pei Hanze was slightly startled and gazed at her tenderly, "Remember, you never have to say ’thanks’ to me."
He knew Shao He was a good girl and understood that she was not the one in his heart. Now, he had let go of his obsession with her, only hoping that she would lead a better life.
"It’s late, you should rest as well," he said, standing up and walking towards the door.
Shao He watched his tall and straight silhouette, her forehead furrowed with worry, feeling that tonight’s Nameless Village was not so simple.
...
In the deep of night, a series of hurried footsteps sounded.
"Quick, catch him!"
A chilly voice rang out, followed by the sounds of fighting.
After an unknown amount of time, a clear voice called out, "My lord, we have captured them!"
"Hmph, lock them up," came the chilly voice again, exuding a bloodthirsty and cruel air.
"Yes, sir!"
"Wait... what about the few people who entered the village?" The man’s voice suddenly turned into an evil laugh.
"Everything is normal. They haven’t noticed anything amiss."
"Good," the Man in Black Robe said with a pleased grin.
In the middle of the night, Shao He suddenly opened her eyes, sat up, and looked around alertly.
She quietly opened the door and went out, seeing that a nearby room’s door was open and a strong smell of blood wafted from inside.
Shao He tiptoed closer, peering inside as she got near.
She saw a family sitting at a table with several chunks of raw meat, which still seemed to be dripping blood, and a boy eating the meat with his hands.
Shao He covered her mouth tightly to suppress any sound, horrified at the scene before her.
"Mom, Dad, why is there so much food tonight?"
The woman and man looked at the child and said gently, "You must have been very hungry lately, so we got you some more."
"Thank you, Mom and Dad," the boy cheered.
Shao He furrowed her brows, wondering what had happened to them. Were they under some kind of mind control?
Just as she was thinking about what to do, the man suddenly seemed to sense something and looked outside.
Startled, Shao He quickly hid, holding her breath, daring not to even let out a sigh.
"What’s up?" the woman asked.
The man retracted his gaze and replied indifferently, "It’s nothing."
Shao He returned to the room and lay down, but the images in her mind refused to fade, causing her to have a night filled with nightmares.
