Reborn As Divine Doctor to Rule the World
Chapter 473 - 475 Skin Grafting

Chapter 473: Chapter 475 Skin Grafting

Shao He had already prepared the surgical instruments for skin grafting but was unable to wait for Yun Qian to come in. With no other choice, she had to take off her sterile suit and push open the door to enter.

She happened to hear a woman wailing about how difficult her life was and how she regretted causing her child to be in such a state, threatening to take her own life.

Shao He grabbed Yun Qian and scolded him, "Since it has already happened, is your self-reproach useful? Was it intentional on your part? Right now, what’s important is not whether you want to live or die but whether you want to save the child inside!"

The woman was so scared by her shouting that she forgot to cry and just stared blankly at her, "Save him, I beg you..."

"There’s no need to beg me. Right now, your child’s burns are very severe, and I need to perform a skin graft and implantation surgery. Do you agree?" Shao He coldly interrupted her, as any further delay could cause the child to miss the optimal treatment window.

The woman quickly nodded, "Okay, as long as the child can survive, I agree to anything..."

Shao He pulled Yun Qian into the operating room, dressed in the sterile suit, disinfected the gloves, put on the sterile cap and mask, and picked up the scalpel.

It had been a long time since Shao He had done a skin grafting operation, and she was somewhat nervous. The makeshift operating room also wasn’t very safe, and there were too many things she was worried about.

"What’s the matter?" Yun Qian had never seen Shao He so nervous, as she always performed her surgeries with ease, as if the scalpel was extremely obedient in her hands.

Shao He took a deep breath, calmed her heartbeat, and cleared her mind to not think about those worries.

"The surgery could be very dangerous," Shao He replied in a low voice.

Yun Qian smiled and comforted her softly, "Don’t think too much, you are the Divine Doctor. A small surgery like this won’t scare you!"

Shao He shot him a glance, "I may be the Divine Doctor, but I’m not a deity."

Returning to her task, Shao He’s scalpel moved skillfully across the boy’s body, as if she had practiced countless times over the years; every cut was extremely precise and smooth.

Yun Qian watched her movements and finally relaxed his tightly clenched hands, realizing that he wasn’t the only one who was nervous.

Yun Qian knew the surgery was very dangerous, after all, it involved a living, breathing life.

As the surgery went on, beads of sweat formed on Yun Qian’s forehead, his heart pounded, and his hands clenched even tighter.

Shao He noticed the trembling hands passing her the instruments and looked up at him, "Don’t be afraid, trust me!"

Yun Qian met her clear and determined gaze, slowly regained his composure, and a slight smile tugged at the corners of his mouth, "Yes!"

The two worked together perfectly, and the surgery lasted four hours. When the final stitch was tied, Shao He breathed a sigh of relief.

Removing the sterile cap and mask, Shao He wiped the sweat from her cheeks and turned towards Yun Qian, only to see his face weary and his brows furrowed with a faint worry.

"You’ve worked hard!" Shao He stood up to offer him some water to drink.

Yun Qian shook his head, "It’s okay!"

After helping Yun Qian change his clothes, Shao He left the operating room. The woman rushed up to her, struggling to ask, "My child, my child..."

She couldn’t finish a single sentence, so Shao He followed up with, "You’re asking about how the child is doing, right?"

The woman nodded excitedly, biting her lower lip as tears rolled down one after another.

"The child’s surgery was very successful, but you can’t see him for now. You need to wait until he is out of danger," Shao He said.

"Thank you..." The woman could no longer hold back and collapsed to the ground, crying in agony.

"Auntie, don’t cry! You need to take care of yourself," Shao He went over to help her up.

The woman clung to Shao He, sobbing loudly. Her child was alive, her child was still alive, thank the heavens! She was really grateful to the Buddha.

Shao He patted her back to comfort her, "It’s alright, auntie. The child is fine. If we get through tonight, I’ll arrange for someone to take him away from here tomorrow."

The woman looked up at her, choking back sobs, "Are you telling the truth?"

Shao He nodded, "Absolutely true!"

"Thank you!" The woman bowed deeply, moved by her gesture.

"Go and rest for a while. You’ll need to take care of the child once he comes out, and you can’t afford to fall ill," Shao He said, helping her to her feet.

The woman then obediently walked to one side and rested in a chair for a moment.

Yun Qian and Shao He went to the back yard to rest on the loungers, asking Zhao Yuebei to keep an eye on the child.

Qingxia brought over snacks and hot tea to the pale-faced duo. She knew her young lady’s habits well; after every surgery, she had to eat something. In her mistress’s words, it was to replenish energy.

After eating some snacks, they gained some strength. Yun Qian asked, "Will the child’s skin be the same as before?"

"It will be because he’s still growing, so the skin will be tenderer. Over time it will thicken gradually, and as long as it doesn’t get wet, it should mostly be scar-free," Shao He assured him confidently.

Yun Qian showed a hint of relief and gazed into the distance, seemingly lost in thought.

Qingxia looked at her silent mistress and sighed with pity.

She’d hardly slept lately, and now she had performed surgery herself, no wonder she looked so pale.

"Miss, would you like to rest in your room for a bit?" Qingxia suggested.

Shao He shook her head, eager to know, "Was there a message today?"

"No," Qingxia answered truthfully.
