Chapter 382: Chapter 383 Help Me

Shao He leaned against the cold wall, her cheeks flushing with shame at the ambiguous sounds coming from outside.

Just as she was about to move, the voices outside stopped abruptly, and Jiang Zhou, panting, said, "I heard that the Fifth Prince has taken a doctor as his Principal Wife, that woman is really lucky."

"Ha, if it hadn’t been for her saving The Emperor’s life, such good fortune would never have befallen her."

After their tryst, the two lay in the grass, discussing Pei Huaian and Shao He.

Jiang Zhou, lying on Xia Zhaoshun’s chest, smiled and said, "This works out perfectly, if he had married a minister’s daughter, it would have been nothing but detrimental to you."

Xia Zhaoshun rested one hand behind his head and pinched her chin with the other, speaking in a frivolous tone, "No matter whom he marries, they will become my biggest enemy."

Others might see Pei Huaian as arrogant and insubordinate, unable to stand on his own, but to Xia Zhaoshun, this was just a façade.

The more adept at biding his time a person was, the more Xia Zhaoshun feared them. Moreover, Pei Huaian was clever.

Shao He carefully shifted towards the outside, and just as she was about to leave, a familiar scent hit her face along with an overwhelming figure.

Looking up at the newcomer, she moved her lips, "How did you get here?"

"I saw you hadn’t been back for a while and thought something might have happened to you, so I came looking," Pei Huaian explained in a low voice close to her ear.

While they talked, the suggestive noises in the grass resumed, now mixed with a woman’s coquettish voice.

"Mmm...ah!"

Pei Huaian’s eyes flickered as he braced his hands against the wall, looking down at the woman in his arms.

Shao He’s face grew even hotter. The two of them, in the cramped space, felt extremely awkward.

"Let’s, let’s step outside first," Shao He whispered.

Pei Huaian leaned in close to her ear and said, "What did you say? I didn’t quite catch it earlier."

Feeling a tickle in her ear, Shao He edged away.

In such a scenario, especially as they overheard others’ intimate sounds, Pei Huaian experienced the usual reactions of a man, his gaze burning intensely as he stared at Shao He.

Feeling his scorching stare, Shao He bit her lip and turned her head away. They had to leave as soon as possible.

Just as she prepared to step outside, her shoulder was grabbed.

Shao He startled, and Pei Huaian forcefully pulled her towards him, his slender fingers gripping her waist tightly.

As Shao He struggled, Pei Huaian held on to her like a vice, impossible to escape from.

"You..."

"Quiet," Pei Huaian’s arm tightened fiercely, clamping her against him.

Lost for what to do, Shao He felt the faint scent of sandalwood invade her nose.

A tingling sensation made Shao He lean back against his body. She raised a hand to push Pei Huaian away, but he caught it and pinned it against the wall, his fervent gaze causing Shao He to shyly look away.

"Shao He, don’t leave me," he whispered close to her ear with a hint of pleading in his voice.

Pei Huaian’s heavy breath sprayed across her soft, pale neck, eliciting a series of shivers.

"You, let go of me first," urged Shao He, her heart pounding violently as she tried to suppress the turmoil within.

Pei Huaian’s body lifted slightly as he bent down and kissed her red lips. Shao He’s eyes widened as she saw his face loom closer, and then slowly closed her eyes.

She felt her strength drain away, collapsing into Pei Huaian’s embrace.

As Shao He became lost in her confusion and passion, Pei Huaian abruptly halted, grabbed her hand, and said with a hint of desperation, "Help me!"

The words made Shao He’s head buzz, her face flushing intensely as she suddenly came to her senses.

In a panic, she pulled her fingers away, breathlessly exclaiming, "You..."

Seeing him press his lips together, refusing to let go, Shao He bit her teeth together and said fiercely, "Let go!"

Pei Huaian, seeing her annoyed expression, finally came back to his senses and hurriedly released her hand.

"Sorry, I didn’t mean to...," he started.

Fortunately, the noises outside had ceased by then, and the sound of hurried dressing emanated before the garden once again fell silent.

Shao He seized the opportunity to push him away and fled the rockery, coming to a halt by the pond to take a deep breath.

Dusk was setting in, a gentle breeze in the air.

Shao He gazed at the clear waters of the pond and then at the stars twinkling in the sky, her mood heavy.

The day’s events had been absurd, catching her completely off guard.

Never having been this close to a man before, and what had just transpired, left her feeling deeply unsettled.

"Shao He, I’m sorry, I wasn’t doing it on purpose. I really never thought of taking advantage of you, I just, I just..." Pei Huaian was at a loss for words, unclear even to himself what he had been thinking when he uttered those words.

Shao He remained silent, not because she didn’t want to acknowledge Pei Huaian, but because she didn’t know how to face him.

Pei Huaian, though, kept apologizing incessantly, regretting his impulsive actions; after all, even though they were married in every sense, it had been under the influence of drugs,

The situation had escalated so quickly, and he was no Lu Xiahui. Upon hearing those provocative sounds and with the woman he loved in his arms, who could withstand it?

Shao He quickened her pace. Right now, all she wanted was to leave the Second Prince’s Mansion quickly.

By coincidence, she ran straight into Liang Rou on her way to leave. Shao He was steadied in time by Pei Huaian, but Liang Rou wasn’t so lucky, falling to the ground with a scraped palm.
