Chapter 373 - 374: Watching the Kid

Chapter 373: Chapter 374: Watching the Kid

Pei Huaian’s face was so gloomy and frightening that his gaze seemed like he was looking at a dead person. The woman was not afraid at all.

She looked at Pei Huaian’s handsome face with infatuation and said again, "I really like you, Fifth Prince."

"Get lost!" Pei Huaian’s eyes were filled with murderous intent as if the woman would lose her life if she stayed any longer.

Seeing this, the middle-aged man hurriedly intervened, "Enough, hurry and follow me!"

The woman was reluctant but didn’t dare to entangle any further. She cast a hateful glance at Shao He and then was dragged onto the carriage.

After she left, Pei Huaian turned to Shao He, "Don’t act recklessly in the future to avoid bringing disaster upon yourself."

"Okay." Shao He nodded, understanding that he was concerned for her safety.

"Inform me promptly if anything happens in the future."

"Okay."

"I’ll be leaving first."

"Wait." Shao He called out to Pei Huaian and handed him the prepared medicine. "This is the medicinal bath I’ve concocted. It will be good for your body, remember to use one packet every evening."

Pei Huaian glanced at the prescription in Shao He’s hand and a hint of a smile curled at the corner of his mouth, fleeting. "Thank you."

Shao He waved her hand to signal there was no need for politeness, and then Pei Huaian left.

Once he was far away, Shao He resumed her seat with composure. She continued to see patients as if nothing had happened, and after witnessing her ferocity, the entire medical hall was so silent that you could hear a needle drop.

At the Jiang Family, Lady Jiang dismissed her attendants and approached the bed with a cold voice, "This time we took a risky move, after marrying the Second Prince you must act cautiously."

"I know, Mother." Jiang Zhou lowered her eyes.

"That child..."

"Don’t worry about the child anymore, I’ll take care of it," Lady Jiang warned sternly.

Jiang Zhou felt somewhat remorseful; after all, this was her child with Xia Zhaoshun, a child she hadn’t even had a chance to properly see yet.

"Don’t forget your current status. If anyone finds out, all our efforts will be wasted!" Lady Jiang said earnestly.

"Mother, can I see the child one more time, just a glance?" Jiang Zhou pleaded bitterly.

If she married the Second Prince in the future, she would never get another chance to see this child.

Lady Jiang sighed, "You... you..."

She wasn’t made of stone, so she conceded, "Alright, alright, just one more glance. I’ll have someone bring him over."

"Mother..." Jiang Zhou was tearfully grateful, not expecting that her mother still cared for her.

Soon, a maid entered carrying a swaddled baby.

Jiang Zhou’s hands trembled as she gently caressed the infant’s cheek, and tears streamed down her face. "My child, my child..."

She had never held something so soft, much less touched it, and now she finally had her wish fulfilled, touching her child’s tender skin, feeling utterly blessed.

"Mother, just let me look a little longer," Jiang Zhou begged.

Lady Jiang let out a helpless sigh and handed the baby to her.

Jiang Zhou took the child and looked over and over again, as if she could never tire of the sight.

"Mother, do you know? During my difficult labor, I thought it would be a blessing if I could join the child in death. Unexpectedly, this little one had a strong will to live and returned to my side after making a round at the gate of hell."

Jiang Zhou held his tiny hand, gently laid it on her face, her eyes filled with deep maternal love.

She did not know when she would be able to acknowledge the child or if she could only protect him under the guise of kinship.

"Yes, this child indeed has a strong life!"

What Jiang Zhou didn’t know was that originally, Lady Jiang and the others had not intended to keep the child. If it hadn’t been for the Midwife informing them that there might be a risk of one corpse and two lives, they would not have gone to ask for Shao He’s help.

After a lengthy conversation, Jiang Zhou reluctantly put down the infant in her arms.

As evening approached and the medical hall started to empty, Shao He did not show any intention of leaving. She had arranged to perform the hymenoplasty on Jiang Zhou that night.

Jiang Zhou said it was because there were too many people during the day, which was not good, but in reality, she was afraid of being discovered and raising suspicions.

Shao He sat in the medical hall when she suddenly noticed a strange fragrance wafting in from outside.

With a silent movement, Shao He slipped out the window and hid in the shadows, quietly watching the surroundings.

A gentle breeze blew, causing petals to slowly drift down onto the table.

Shao He narrowed her eyes slightly and waved her hand to fan the air. Sniffing, she immediately identified the powder’s ingredients, frowning in the process.

Indeed, it was an aphrodisiac.

Although the powder was not poisonous and the person inhaling it would not have any immediate problems, they would begin to feel sleepy after half a Chinese hour.

Shao He’s brows were tightly knotted, and it was clear that whoever did this did not want her life, but why would he do such a thing?

While she leaned against the wall pondering, a figure suddenly entered the room. One could not make out the face, only a pair of deep eyes, but they gave her a familiar feeling.

Suddenly, footsteps sounded from outside, and the person in black had to give up and leave. Shao He then covered her mouth and nose and climbed back in through the window.

"Creak," the door was pushed open, and Jiang Zhou entered along with Lady Jiang, followed by them closing the door of the medical hall.

"Doctor Shao."

"Yes, come with me." Shao He picked up the tea on the table and poured it over the petals, watching the dissolving powder before turning to walk towards the inner courtyard.

Jiang Zhou and Lady Jiang exchanged glances, not understanding the meaning behind her recent actions.

They simply assumed that a Divine Doctor had her own eccentricities and did not think too much of it.
