Chapter 363: Chapter 364 If You Betray Me, I Will Surely Leave
"Who... who wants to stay by your side?" Shao He stiffened her neck, putting on a defiant façade, but inside she was scoffing. She didn’t want to stay by his side at all!
Pei Huaian suddenly leaned in close, whispering right at her nose tip, "I know, you like me too, right?"
Shao He, frightened, quickly turned her head away, not wanting to meet his gaze, but Pei Huaian held her face.
"You..." Shao He felt utterly panicked inside.
Pei Huaian gazed at her, speaking slowly and deliberately, "If you didn’t like me, why would your face turn red just from our eyes meeting?"
Shao He glared at him, how did he know everything, all her secrets laid bare before him!
"So, do you really like me or not?" Pei Huaian pressed, his dark pupils tightening around her.
He never expected her to fall in love with him, as he had grown accustomed to loneliness. He only hoped she would not leave, no matter what the conditions he was willing to endure.
Shao He looked into his dark phoenix eyes, where a suffocating depth shimmered.
After a long while, Shao He slowly nodded her head.
Pei Huaian, thrilled, gripped her arms tightly, and exclaimed, "Shao He!"
These two words contained so many emotions. He had finally gotten his wish!
"I have always been ruthless and unwilling to share my husband with others. If one day you betray me, I will not hesitate to take our children and disappear completely from your side!"
Pei Huaian stood tall, his gaze cold and profound, "I won’t give you the chance to leave."
The setting sun slanted westward, its afterglow spilling across the earth. Everything seemed to come to a standstill, except for Pei Huaian and Shao He, who nestled together, their eyes reflecting gentle entwining light, as if it was the most beautiful scene in the world.
"Why can’t we go up there? We’re going up, what can you do about it?"
A boisterous voice disrupted the warmth. Shao He stood up and looked outside, only to see a new boat had arrived, led by an arrogant-looking woman.
The boatman tried to stop the newcomers from coming ashore but was blocked by the guards following the woman.
"Leave quickly, I want to enjoy the scenery here. No commoners allowed near!" the leading woman commanded, pointing at them with a tone that was obnoxiously imperious.
Pei Huaian’s eyes narrowed slightly, emitting a murderous intent, and the air around him dropped several degrees.
"Get down!"
"Haha... Such arrogance, but I’d like to see what you’re capable of," the woman said as she swung her whip.
Pei Huaian reached out with his long, jade-like palm, firmly caught the whip, and with a fierce pull, wrested the whip from her hands.
Pei Huaian walked up to her, looming over her, his tone indifferent, "Get lost."
This was the first time the woman had encountered a man fearless enough to humiliate her in public. She found it utterly detestable!
"I’m going to kill you!"
Immediately, she drew a dagger from her waist and stabbed at Pei Huaian.
"Seeking death!" Pei Huaian snorted coldly, his wrist flicked, and the whip instantly wrapped around her waist. With a pull and a lift—
"Ah..." The woman screamed as she was flung from the shore into the water.
Shao He stood up, took his hand, and said softly, "I’m tired, let’s go back!"
Pei Huaian looked at her, his tone icy and solemn, "As you wish."
"Hmm."
Pei Huaian’s gaze, sharp as a blade, swept around the people, then fell on the face of the drowning woman, snorted coldly, and, taking Shao He by the hand, quickly walked up to the boat.
Watching them return to the boat, the boatman breathed a sigh of relief.
"If you can, don’t leave! Come out here!" The woman, fetched from the water like a drenched hen, screamed at the retreating boat, standing on the deck and cursing loudly.
Her gaze unintentionally fell on a scented sachet on the ground. She walked over, picked it up, and upon seeing the embroidery on it, a cold smile curled her lips.
We’ll see!
Back at the mansion, Ah Mo reported, "Master, Doctor Shao, Miss Qi has come to see Doctor Shao."
Shao He knew why she had come, probably because of the rumors outside.
"I’ll go see her."
"Okay."
Pei Huaian nodded, then turned and headed to his study.
Upon entering the study, Ah Mo reported, "Master, Xia Zhaoshun seems to be up to something recently. He plans to use the Jiang Family to approach the Second Prince for something."
"Hmm," Pei Huaian responded without looking up, his tone indifferent. His long, fair fingers occasionally tapped the tabletop, producing a clear, pleasant sound.
Ah Mo stood for a while without hearing further instructions, puzzled, he looked up at him.
Pei Huaian continued to focus on the window outside, as if he hadn’t really taken the earlier conversation to heart.
"Check where the rumors circulating in Capital City originated from," Pei Huaian ordered indifferently.
"Yes," Ah Mo bowed respectfully and withdrew.
Pei Huaian picked up a book from the desk and began flipping through it. His stunningly handsome face was shrouded in the dim candlelight, making him appear even more intriguing and captivating.
In the front hall, Qi Jiayuan apologized with a regretful face, "I’m sorry, Shao He. I didn’t handle the situation well, which led to harmful rumors about you in the house. But don’t worry, the person involved has been dealt with."
Shao He smiled faintly, "It’s okay."
She believed that it had nothing to do with the Qi Family, that it was all instigated by someone behind the scenes. She wasn’t concerned about those rumors and slander.
