Chapter 358: Chapter 359: Free Clinic for Soldiers

Shao He continued to explain with a smile, "This type of cold easily invades the internal organs, causing unbearable pain throughout the body. If the general does not receive timely treatment, I fear his health may deteriorate even further and could possibly affect his lifespan."

"If not treated timely, I fear it might affect your future life, not to mention returning to the battlefield to ride horses and lead soldiers into battle."

"What exactly is this illness? How can it be so severe?" Qi Jiayuan asked, extremely frightened, having initially thought his father was just suffering from a minor illness.

"This disease is called Armor Shedding Wind. It generally involves complex injuries and can easily cause muscle atrophy, leading to loss of balance and coordination among other issues, and in severe cases, it can be life-threatening."

Qi Jiayuan asked solemnly, "Can you treat this illness?"

"Naturally, it requires treatment assisted by acupuncture."

"Good," General Qi agreed in surprise, putting his full trust in Shao He, not doubting a single word she said.

Qi Jiayuan had been thinking about how to persuade his father, and he hadn’t expected him to agree so readily.

The three of them entered the room, and Shao He prepared the silver needles and said, "Please remove your upper garment, General Qi."

General Qi, a man who never sweated the small stuff, did not mind the propriety and removed his upper garment to sit on the couch.

Shao He twirled the silver needles and slowly inserted them into two acupoints on his shoulder, and finally deeper towards the center, right into the back and precisely below the tenth thoracic vertebra.

After a short while, General Qi felt a great relief throughout his body, and the unbearable pain gradually subsided.

"This is miraculous!" exclaimed General Qi.

"Thank you for the compliment, General," Shao He replied modestly.

Shao He turned to look at Qi Jiayuan behind her and asked, "I wonder where the other injured soldiers are?"

"There’s no rush, let’s have dinner before you see to them," Qi Jiayuan urged, not wanting her to treat the soldiers on an empty stomach.

General Qi asked in surprise, "You want to treat the injured soldiers?"

"Yes, I’ve heard they suffer from many complicated and peculiar diseases, which other doctors can’t cure, so I specifically came to have a look."

General Qi got off the bed, bowed deeply, and expressed his immense gratitude, "On behalf of the many soldiers, thank you, Doctor Shao."

Shao He quickly reached out to support him, "General, I cannot accept such a gesture. As a doctor, it is merely my duty."

At that moment, a maid hurriedly reported that the meal was ready in the kitchen. General Qi asked the maid to serve the food.

After dinner, Shao He began conducting a free clinic for the other injured soldiers.

She approached a soldier and said, "Excuse me, brother, please roll up your trouser leg."

The soldier promptly rolled up his trouser leg, revealing his injured thigh. The entire leg was bruised black and blue, swollen abnormally, and the skin surface appeared to be covered with lumps, looking very nauseating.

"What happened here?" Qi Jiayuan frowned and asked.

"This is due to an infected wound. We must disinfect first, then remove the necrotic and rotten tissue, which might be quite painful," Shao He assured in a firm tone.

"It’s alright, as long as my leg is spared," the soldier said with gritted teeth.

"Hold on a moment."

As soon as Shao He finished speaking, she sprayed the soldier’s thigh with disinfectant solution.

The soldier sharply inhaled from the sting of the intense liquid. He grabbed a torn cloth by his side, stuffed it into his mouth, and bit down hard.

"Very good!" Shao He praised with a smile, then she gently cut open the soldier’s wound with a scalpel.

The soldier bit the cloth, enduring the excruciating pain as veins stood out on his neck.

After Shao He removed the necrotic and rotten tissues, she picked up some gauze to gently wipe the blood surrounding the wound. She then cleaned it with medicinal alcohol, sprinkled white powder over it, and rebandaged it.

Having finished, Shao He stood up and proceeded to treat a few soldiers with less severe injuries until it was deep into the night.

"It’s quite late already, why don’t you stay overnight here, Doctor Shao?" General Qi, noticing her weary expression, asked caringly.

"No need, I’ll come another day to examine the rest of the soldiers," Shao He responded weakly.

Qi Jiayuan had the servants prepare a carriage, "I will take you home."

Shao He was dozing off in the carriage, truly exhausted from the day’s activities.

Outside the Fifth Prince’s Mansion, Pei Huaian saw the parked carriage and moved forward to greet it. He lifted the carriage curtain and seeing the sleeping person inside, made a shushing gesture.

He gently lifted the person out of the carriage and walked slowly towards the mansion.

"Your Highness..."

The servants inside hurried to pay respects, but before they could finish, they heard a cold command.

"Be quiet."

They immediately fell silent, daring not to speak further.

Pei Huaian walked straight to his room, laid the sleeping person on the bed, and tucked the thin quilt around her before silently leaving.

The next morning, Shao He slowly woke up, somewhat disoriented by her surroundings.

"Knock, knock, knock."

It was only when a knock on the door occurred that Shao He got up, put on the clothes hanging nearby, and went to open the door.

The glaring sunlight made her squint her eyes slightly, and she slightly lifted her arm, feeling a hint of soreness as well as some discomfort in her neck.

Qingxia, seeing the pale-faced person, asked, "Miss, are you alright? Why do you look so haggard?"

"It’s nothing, probably just too tired from yesterday," Shao He answered, massaging her shoulders.
