Chapter 225: Faris Sees Fairies

While the serpent became disoriented and its eyes rolled back because of the hallucinating dust Faris became dazed. So many colours flashed in front of his eyes as he jumped off and began to stare into the air.

Taking the opportunity, Razial swung his heavy sword and cleanly cut the snarling creature’s head off. A geyser of crimson-yellow liquid gushed out splashing and flooding the area around them. Its head rolled to a side and its enormous body heaped amidst the rotting foliage.

"Yes!"

Aiko and Lotus stuck their hands together in triumph. Everyone eased seeing the snake dead.

Razial took out his handkerchief and began to smugly wipe the sword clean. Lotus took a step closer to the commander and whispered.

"I am impressed, that was a clean shot."

"Anything for my lady." Razial took a bow. "You weren’t bad yourself."

"Truth be told, I wasn’t sure it would work, considering all our magic has been tampered with. But I am glad it did and now that I see it. I have used the wrong dust." Lotus sheepishly stared at the vial in her hand.

Aiko rushed towards Faris. She could sense he seemed slightly confused.

"Commendable effort you all," Cassandra praised as the shrieks of the serpent-like creature battling Siroos rang like ominous bells.

The cries of his loss and mourning of his mate. Its attention was diverted to its dead partner and Siroos took the opportunity to dig his claws into its throat and plummet him to the ground, far away from his companions.

The tree branches broke and both landed with a loud thud, sending leaves and dust flying.

Cassandra’s heart jolted as she blindly rushed towards her mate. Although she had been protecting him with her shield, restlessness settled in her gut. The dragon was victoriously sitting on the dead serpent. The claws clutching its neck. The sharp talons had pierced its skin and ruptured the main veins, killing it.

The dragon used his wings to put out fires that had been lit over the vegetation and trees. Once everything was under control.

Siroos shifted and rushed towards his mate. They met midway.

"Are you hurt?" Cassandra frantically asked, embracing him.

"No, my love. Your shield protected me. It’s dead." He pointed towards the large creature in the distance.

"The other one is dead too. Everyone worked as a team to bring it down and Razial cut his head off," Cassandra took his hand in hers.

They walked back to join the rest of their pals when they found Razial and Lotus laughing with their hands on their bellies while Aiko seemed mortified. Her eyes fixated on her mate.

Faris was running in circles, his mouth hanging open trying to catch air in his hands with stars in his eyes.

"Fairiesss! Boobiess!"

"What’s happening?" Siroos questioned, seeing the dazed state of his brother.

"He inhaled hallucinating powder meant for the creature. It makes men hallucinate about pretty fairies with big assets," Lotus explained, unable to hold back her squeals of laughter.

"Ahh!" Siroos crossed his arms and watched his brother in amusement. Faris had always teased and tormented Siroos, this was a perfect time to get his revenge.

"Oh! No. Let me try to bring him out of this dazed state." Cassandra tried to scramble towards her brother-in-law, ready to help. When Siroos’s arm shot out and halted her. A very evil but satisfied smile was on Siroos’s lips.

"Nah! Let him continue chasing the non-existent fairies."

Faris was now hugging a tree, rubbing his cheek on its bark.

"So pretty, you are so pretty..." he made smooching sounds which resulted in more laughter.

"This never fails to deliver. I used it on the guards as well, when I came for your rescue." She winked at Razial making his smile deepen. He loved how her mind worked.

But Aiko seemed slightly uncomfortable and abashed seeing her mate like that.

Cassandra picked up on that.

"That’s enough." Wriggling out of Siroos’s hold, Cassandra moved towards her brother-in-law. He was kissing the hard bark of the tree now, making loud embarrassing sounds.

Cassandra placed her hand on Faris’s head and let her magic flow.

"It’s all right, Faris. Return to us." Her warmth flowed through to him, clearing away the daze from his brain. The hallucinations stopped, and the barrier in front of his eyes broke.

He stupidly blinked, his mouth felt bland as if he had swallowed a branch. His arms were around something hard and Faris soon realised he was hugging a hard tree.

"What?" He shook his head and drew his arms from the tree.

"What happened? Where is the serpent?" He asked in bewilderment, his head whipping in all directions.

Everyone was laughing, except his mate and SIL, the former seemed rather annoyed, her brows had knitted together. Her arms crossed at her heaving chest. The latter seemed sympathetic and patted his back in comfort.

"Did you catch a fairy? Or all of them ditched you?" Siroos mocked and Faris remembered what he had been seeing.

He was mortified and understood why Aiko seemed mad at him.

"Bless-o! I am in trouble. Ain’t I?" He quietly asked his SIL and she nodded, bunching her lips up.

"Sorry! But yes, you probably are."

Faris brought his hands down and dawdled towards his slightly angered mate.

"No fairies for Faris. Did that tree taste as good as them?" Siroos deliberately teased, enjoying himself. Faris threw a dirty look towards his brother.

Cassandra shook her head, walking back to Siroos she elbowed him.

"Stop teasing him."

"As if he never did."

Faris sheepishly stood by Aiko but she refused to make eye contact. He was lost for words but still apologised.

"Sorry!"

Aiko stayed quiet for now.

"We should keep moving, we don’t know how many of such creatures could be lingering." Razial glanced around and commented. Drawing everyone’s attention towards the creatures they had just killed.

"What even are they?" Siroos questioned. They weren’t some regular snakes.

"Some native animals in Grimhollow, I have a feeling we are going to see a lot more of these."

Leaving the place behind they began to move ahead.
