Chapter 166: Reborn As The Cursed Alpha’s Mate

Cassandra felt him right before she could see him. Leaving Kanyon on the floor writhing in pain while holding on to his burnt genitalia, she ran towards the door. Yanking it open, she rushed out barefoot, blood still stuck to the one she had used to kick Kanyon.

Her heart stopped beating at the sight that welcomed her.

Beyond the metal fence, at a distance Siroos’s dragon flapped its magnanimous wings. His ajar mouth hurled out a stream of bright orange fire, trying to burn whatever spell Kanyon had around this wretched place.

A tear began to appear in the spell cast around the palace with a bluish-purple boundary stretched wide.

Cassandra frantically ran to the point where her mate was and stood watching him in awe. Her limbs restless to just wrap themselves around the dragon’s scaly body and be bathed in his deep love.

The tears of joy collected in her eyes as she rubbed her body with her hands.

He was here for her.

He had found her.

His crimson eyes were glowing with a determination to burn this place down.

She knew she could pass through this weak spell now; it wouldn’t be able to hold her back because her magic was no longer concealed. It had surfaced.

The heat from the dragon’s breath didn’t affect her as if the fire wouldn’t even touch her body or harm her by any means.

Soon, the tear was wide enough for her to squeeze through, and she rushed forward. He seemed to have spotted her, for the stream of fire ended abruptly, followed by a mighty howl of the dragon.

The part of the fence had also melted away as black smoke swirled around her and she emerged as a phoenix from amidst, smoke, ash and fire.

Putting her trust in her mate, Cassandra stared directly at him and jumped, spreading her arms.

The dragon swiftly moved and caught her in his extended claws. She landed safely and he plastered her to his rough chest while still hovering in the air, his huge wings rapidly thrumming behind him.

"Siroos!" She cried out amidst the emotional turmoil that almost choked his name in her throat. She clung to him like a sloth does to a tree.

The lost part of her heart, fragments of her mind, bits of her soul and her missing powers, everything seemed to have fitted back right into its designated place.

The tears she had kept inside, rolled out as she found her peace. He was her peace.

So many memories resided inside her, the memories of her past, the memories of the tormented moments, the memories of how he had been burnt alive right in front of her eyes.

The dragon’s long coarse tongue lovingly wagged out as he licked the salty water off her cheeks while she cried. Giving her his assurance that he was here and she was safe.

His chest slowly purred but inside the storm of fire raged seeing the condition she was in.

Her frail body shook but he could sense something changed about her.

The spell around the place fell through with a loud bang, diverting their attention. They observed it was a relatively small place.

Kanyon had dragged himself out of the room, covering himself with his cloak. He stood near the burnt railing, watching them with malicious eyes that blazed like hellfire. His hand held his cloak closed around his burnt privates, they weren’t healing as they were supposed to.

What kind of magic did she possess?

Cassandra lifted her head and defiantly stared back at the man who had wronged her on so many levels. The dragon let out a warning growl, ready to burn him for he had seen the wounds on Cassandra’s body.

Before the dragon opened his maw and rain fire on the sick-minded vampire, a loud crackling sound as if the sky was being whipped made all of them stare upwards.

Just then something flew down from the heavens, the three sentries sent by Arkiam. Draped in glimmering white uniforms with gold linings, the creatures didn’t belong to this world. They were flawless, their features unparalleled. Their wings glistened in the evening rays of the dying sun.

They quickly formed a protective hollow around Kanyon. They bowed in respect as one began to speak.

"Lord Kalthian, you have been summoned. Your work in this world is done for now."

The dragon raged, letting out a stream of fire but they protected him with their heavenly magic.

Kanyon began to transform as soon as one of those sentries placed a red cloak around him. His hair elongated reaching to his waist. The red in Kanyon’s hair enveloped the black, turning his entire hair crimson.

The fire danced in his eyes now. His powers shot out like whips of reddish-orange fire as he threw a scathing glance at Cassandra and the dragon.

But his powers couldn’t touch them, they were surrounded by this faint lilac-blue glow. Siroos and Cassandra’s powers had conjoined, protecting them against this fiend.

The sentries gathered up Kanyon in their arms.

"We will meet again, Cassandra. This is not where our journey ends," Kanyon called out to her with a slow meaningful smile as they vanished, leaving no traces behind except the remnants of the smoke from the burnt-up metal fence.

Dragon roared in rage, lifting its head to the heavens. Kanyon should have died at his hands; instead, he was rescued and taken to the heavenly realm.

Cassandra fully understood who they were and why help was sent for Kanyon. The precious rabid dog her father kept, he had purposely sent him to the earthly realm just to torture and spite her. It wasn’t a coincidence that they had crossed paths. As much she wished to deny it, she knew meeting him was inevitable and they would be crossing paths again.

After their disappearance, people began to clamour out of the secluded palace. People Kanyon seemed to have been keeping caged there. Innocent people whom he had been using as leverage or as his blood slaves.

The pesky vampire was so sure about the magical spell and his abilities that he hadn’t put any guards there. He had just cloaked them from one another to make the place appear empty. Now that the spell was broken, people had escaped.

Dragon safely nestled Cassandra closer to his chest and flew back to where he had left Faris and Aiko. He couldn’t stop staring at her bruised face while she gaped at him with adorable needy eyes.

Her hands rested on his claws and her face on his rough skin. There was so much she wished to say, but for now, she was choking on these emotions, and all she could do was stare at him.

It was freezing cold, and he was trying to keep her warm; most of her skin was exposed, so his claws cradled all around her flimsy structure.

Cassandra was numb to the cold in that moment. The bubbling feeling of being back in his arms was all the warmth she craved.

All she could think was.

Did he remember her from the past too?

Did he remember anything from their past life because she now possessed every memory of their life together?

She now understood why she was chosen to be his mate.

Why was she reborn as the cursed alpha’s mate.
