Reborn As Cursed Alpha's Mate
Chapter 144: Her Chamber

Chapter 144: Her Chamber

"Ma! How are you feeling?" Both sons rushed to their mother and helped her sit up. Faris fetched water and helped her take a sip from the earthen pot.

Once she had stabilised a bit and her heartbeat normalised, she faced her sons. They were curiously watching her with hints of curiosity coating their faces. But they held their tongues, not trying to overwhelm her.

"It was Aylin after she spoke through me. She revealed Cassandra’s true identity and how she is connected with Aylin and Arkiam." Haylia told her sons, her body slowly trembled from the overwhelming experience she had gone through.

"That makes so much sense. We can guess that Arkiam was not pleased with Asara falling in love with a mortal and cursed him and his whole pack," Faris thought out aloud, tapping his hand on his bent knee.

"What an old geezer, he cursed his own daughter. Is Aylin on Cassandra’s side or Arkiam’s? Seems like she is on her daughter’s side or this prophecy wouldn’t have been made." Siroos let out a deep sigh, how his heart ached with these revelations.

They both were cursed now it was clear to him. Their destinies had intertwined long long ago and yet he was unaware how he was burnt alive as Alpha Kael by Asara’s fiancé Kalthian.

Asara had been stripped of her powers and locked up, until she was reborn as Cassandra about 25 years ago. She had mourned for her lover for about five centuries.

"Yes! Aylin appeared to me earlier, when I was with Cassandra. She said it’s not time yet and she should have hope. I think she was just trying to keep her daughter’s strength going." Haylia revealed her previous encounter with Aylin. As promised, Cassandra had never revealed it to Siroos or to anyone else.

"We can only assume that she is trying to find loopholes in the curse Arkiam placed on us and his daughter too." Faris lifted himself and began to pace inside the chamber, his fingers rubbing his chin in deep thought as he tried and connected the dots.

"What was the place like which Aylin showed you?" Siroos turned to his mother and asked in curiosity.

"It was pristinely white and beautiful, almost magical. It was the Realm of the Moon, I presume. Cassandra seemed different, she glowed with otherworldly light, dressed in a silverish white ethereal gown. That was the image of her before she was cursed. She is no ordinary person, she is the goddess of love. She has powers which are locked away but now it’s only going to be a matter of time before they will be revealed. There is a reason Aylin has made this prophecy at this particular time."

Haylia’s words put a smile on Siroos’s face and his hand went to the pendant Cassandra had left behind. He had been wearing it since he had found it.

"She stayed with you, day and night. Not leaving your side for a second. SIL was so full of regrets when she learnt that your wolf had been suppressed, she cried with her head on yours. She even wrapped her pendant around your claw so you would be protected in case there was another attack," Faris revealed, pausing in front of his brother who seemed emotionally wrecked but was trying to be strong only for them.

First, he was forced to hurt his mate and now she was ripped from his arms and taken away. No one even knew where and by whom. This was a special kind of torture, the one that was poisoning him slowly.

"She helped my wolf heal and return to his full strength. Her scream was what woke me up." Siroos paused and another memory surfaced, this one put a smile on his saddened face.

"She had driven a sword through Sikala’s head by the time I reached her. My mate is fearless and a true Luna to our pack. I am so proud of her."

His words carried his emotions and Faris placed both his hands on his brother’s sinewy shoulders. Haylia nodded and patted his son’s back as well.

"As you should be, brother. You are lucky to have her. Don’t fear whatever the curse and the gods. You have always carved your own destiny and this time you will emerge victorious."

Faris’s words gave him strength, he needed it in those moments.

"Now we need to formulate a plan to bring her back." Siroos lifted his head and faced his brother. Determination flashed in his eyes which were changing colours like a rainbow flashing in the sky. Every spirit residing inside him was showing their approval of this plan.

"You will bring our Luna back, I believe in you, my son," Haylia offered her blessings.

"We have to speak with Princess Lotus, she needs to know her sister is missing. Also the assistance of a very powerful mage to locate SIL." Siroos rose to his feet hearing Faris’s words. Special mages could do locator spells to find out the location of a person.

"Send Agron with a message for Princess Lotus, ask her to meet us somewhere safe but outside the palace. We are riding at dawn for Speldaria. You and me, both. Ranon will stay behind and will act as the Alpha in my absence. I am going to bring my mate back and then we are going to break this damn curse from ourselves and our pack," Siroos announced for his mother and she quickly mindlinked Agron so he could instantly.

"I will be the one to kill whoever took Ara from me. He is mine once we find him," Faris spoke with raw ferocity, his eyes blazing. The guilt of failing her would never leave him.

"Once we find him or her, he will be all yours," Siroos answered but deep inside he was afraid of that fox Faris had seen.

What if she was actually Faris’s mate and had been used to trick him?

Would Faris ever forgive her?

Pushing these questions away into the deep ravines of his mind Siroos continued to give instructions to his mother.

"Ma, you will be acting Luna, I know you are more than capable of handling the pack. I will be leaving it in your hands," Siroos made the final announcement and Haylia nodded.

"I wish you luck, my son."

Siroos then walked out of his chamber.

His destination was her chamber, he hadn’t set foot in it since the night he had hurt her but now he needed to feel closer to his mate.

He wished to be alone, the mask he had plastered on his face to hide the pain was slipping away and he needed to grieve before he set out. The pain had taken permanent residence in his battered heart and it was increasing with every passing second.

Slowly opening the door of her sacred space, Siroos entered her sanctuary. A very faint smell of Saffron lingered in the vicinity, affiliated only with his mate. It blanketed him in a warmth he had been lacking, a sureness returned that he would find her.

Moving closer to her table he found her wooden hair brush with some silky strands of her gold-hued hair. Picking it up he took a deep whiff, taking in her potent essence.

Carefully removing her precious hair from the bristles, Siroos twirled them on his finger feeling their softness. Bringing them closer to his lips, he softly caressed them and tucked them into the small pocket of his belt. A part of her he wished to carry along.

Then he slumped on her bedding and the memories of their intimate moments assaulted his senses. Siroos placed his arm on his eyes and revelled in them. Picking up her pillow he plastered it to his heaving chest. It held her fragrance too.

Tones of fainting Saffron and something heavenly.

"Cassa, hang on. I am going to come for you. Don’t lose hope," he barely murmured. Closing his eyes.

He hadn’t slept a wink since she had gone missing and with so much happening, Siroos could only wonder when he would find peace again. But the prophecy had given him hope. Before he knew it, Siroos had drifted off.

Aylin visited him in his sleep. She held a soft smile as her silvery hair flew all around her. Siroos watched her mesmerised.

"Siroos, I know Arkiam did you wrong and locked away your memories but I know the next time you meet my daughter, those memories will unlock for you. Take care of her, help her in breaking the curse and one day both of you will be blessed with a child as well." She fainted away before Siroos could speak and he was woken up by Faris.

"Brother, it’s time to go, dawn is about to break."

With a satisfied smile, Siroos left Cassandra’s bedding and chamber, making himself a promise that he would return with her. His heart had strengthened after Aylin’s words.
