"Haha, even Little Ruo Ruo has reached the Earth Level. Impressive."
The two elders looked at their daughter and the youngest granddaughter she proudly brought along, nodding with satisfaction.
The two elders of Jia’s family, though in their sixties, had somehow grown increasingly youthful in recent years. Particularly after a medical scientist from the Auster Empire published a genetic theory linking Earth people to the Auster Empire, and several lifespan-extending medicines from the Auster Empire were introduced. Now, they looked as if they were only in their thirties.
If not for others confirming that their physiques were not suitable for cultivating Brainwave Power, they might have already been tempted to try it themselves.
Beside them sat a woman who appeared to be in her twenties, yet her daughter, next to her, looked to be fifteen or sixteen years old—clearly showing her true age.
She was Jia Yan’s younger sister, Jia Lin.
Beside her sat another young woman, radiating elegance and beauty that surpassed even Jia Lin’s. She possessed the noble grace of someone born into a prominent family. This was Jia Qi, who used to cling to Jia Yan when she was younger.
Near this mother-daughter pair stood a petite little girl, bearing a striking resemblance to the youthful Jia Qi. She was none other than the baby "Ruo Ruo" Jia Yan had encountered years ago, nestled in his sister’s arms.
Now, Ruo Ruo was six or seven years old, her large, expressive eyes darting about as if they could talk—utterly charming.
"Grandpa, Grandma, I’ve reached Earth Level! Amazing, right? I’m better than my sister, aren’t I?" Little Ruo Ruo still carried the temperament of a child, especially when she saw her sister, pursing her lips in mock anger.
"You’re the amazing one, sure." Despite having matured a bit, Jia Qi still retained a mischievous streak, not hesitating to bicker with her much younger sibling.
"Alright, you two, that’s enough arguing."
It was Jia Lin who stopped the sisters from quarreling. Fortunately, the siblings’ age gap was so wide that it avoided escalating into outright fights.
"Little Lin, I heard the Earth Alliance summoned you earlier today, didn’t they? What was it about?"
As the family chatted and laughed, Father Jia was the first to ask a serious question with a weighted expression.
Upon hearing this, Jia Lin’s smile disappeared, and she shook her head.
"Yes, it’s true. Today, the Earth Alliance Government called me in to deal with the so-called ’Great Empire’ emissary who arrived recently."
The Great Empire emissary?
From beyond the door, where a man had been silently listening for a while, came a knock.
"Who’s there? Please come in."
The Jia family members inside were slightly surprised. After all, in the Jia household, it was unusual to knock on the door in such a manner; even the servants had their own ways of entering.
But now, in the night, someone was knocking!?
They didn’t believe the person outside posed any danger, because if that were the case, the Jia household would have already erupted in chaos.
Even if a formidable figure had come, they understood that somewhere in the vicinity was Earth’s strongest entity watching over the Jia family. There was no reason to worry.
Upon hearing Father Jia speak, the man outside pushed the door open and entered.
"Ah, brother!"
When the Jia family finally saw his face clearly, they were first startled, then overwhelmed with joy.
The one who entered was none other than the son Father and Mother Jia thought of daily but could never locate. He was also the "Great Hero Uncle" Jia Lin mentioned repeatedly to her young daughter.
For Jia Qi, this man was her most beloved family member.
"Xiao Yan, you’ve finally come home."
"Uncle!"
Little Jia Qi rushed into the man’s arms, playfully seeking affection.
Only the dazed Little Ruo Ruo remained transfixed, looking at her mother, then her grandparents, then her somewhat tearful sister. She couldn’t understand what was happening.
After all, she was too young back then to remember Jia Yan.
"Haha, Dad, Mom, Little Lin, I’m back."
The man gently embraced his young niece before nodding to his parents and sister.
He was Jia Yan.
"Uncle, how could you disappear for so many years? If you hadn’t come back soon, I could have gotten married already!"
Jia Qi half-jokingly accused Jia Yan, pouting teasingly.
"You little rascal, I’d actually love to see what you look like getting married." Jia Yan playfully pinched Jia Qi’s nose. He sighed inwardly: had he not sensed movements on Earth this time, it might have been during his eventual return that his young niece, once swaddled in diapers, would truly have married.
"Come on, Ruo Ruo, call me Uncle."
"Xiao Yan, sit down. After all these years, you must be tired. Sit."
"Uncle, I’m already at Mid Celestial Level, awesome, right?"
Once the initial excitement of seeing Jia Yan subsided, Jia parents and Jia Lin’s family warmly surrounded him with welcome.
After all, they hadn’t seen each other for years, and the changes in everyone had been significant. His parents looked much younger than before; his sister likewise had grown more vibrant, and her two daughters had matured—Jia Qi nearly old enough to wed.
All except for Jia Yan, whose avatar body had remained virtually unchanged.
In fact, given Jia Yan’s extraordinary ability and extended lifespan, a few years barely impacted him. Moreover, this incarnation of him wasn’t his true body; it was crafted from materials almost impervious to the passage of time.
Jia Yan individually acknowledged each family member warmly.
He paid particular attention to his parents’ health, asking detailed questions.
The worried expressions they wore when they first saw him had now dissipated, replaced by relief; they knew that Jia Yan’s presence meant safety.
"Earlier at the door, I overheard you discussing this Great Empire emissary. What’s that about?"
After some friendly chatter, Jia Yan finally shifted the conversation to the subject he wanted to learn about.
From the looks of it, Earth didn’t seem to be facing any immediate crisis. Otherwise, the scenery wouldn’t appear so peaceful.
Thus, Jia Yan chose to reconnect with his family first before addressing the matter.
"Brother, let me explain this."
After hearing Jia Yan ask, Jia Lin directed her elder daughter Jia Qi to take Little Ruo Ruo to play elsewhere. She then proceeded to speak to Jia Yan, recounting the events comprehensively.
From her explanation, Jia Yan listened attentively, his expression gradually becoming somber.
Jia Lin first described Earth’s progress over the years, particularly its technology. Thanks to personnel, materials, and techniques from the Ru Lan Empire and Auster Empire, advancements had skyrocketed—almost unrecognizably with each passing day.
Initially, everything seemed on track, with bases and cities popping up on Mars, the Moon, and several planets within the Solar System. Earth’s march toward becoming a spacefaring civilization was accelerating.
However, a year ago, an entity proclaiming itself the "Great Empire" emerged like a sudden stone thrown into a calm celestial pond, shattering the balance entirely!
They didn’t rely on brute force. Instead, after the newly established nobility of the Auster Empire refused their demands, they subdued the entire Auster Empire with a mere five to six monstrous individuals.
Their unprecedented and overwhelming power forced the Auster Empire to yield to their requirements and cease assistance to Earth.
Luckily, Earth’s ambassador to the Auster Empire, Daphne, wasn’t harmed. She was merely deported and was presently en route back due to the long journey.
This so-called Great Empire issued unusual commands, suppressing several large empires and instructing them to prepare for war. The most shocking mandate related to Earth’s unique role as a civilization: they demanded that unequal treaties with Earth be abolished.
Recently, a Great Empire emissary arrived on Earth, ordering it to halt certain developments and instead use its current facilities to supply vast amounts of minerals and personnel resources to the Great Empire.
Though Earth hadn’t yet succumbed, the emissary seemed increasingly impatient, prompting the Earth Alliance to request the presence of Earth’s most prestigious citizens—the Jia family—to negotiate.
"Brother, I was so angry. I represented Earth’s greatest goodwill, yet they dismissed me outright, claiming I was just an ordinary Earthling unworthy of dining with him. I’m your sister! It’s infuriating!"
Jia Lin’s indignation flared as she recounted the events.
Jia Yan merely chuckled and shook his head; in her mannerisms and fiery personality, she was unmistakably the sister he had always known, unyielding as ever despite having grown into adulthood and having two daughters.
Naturally, he did not criticize her. Instead, Jia Yan analyzed the underlying message in her words.
"It seems the unique aura my avatar detected earlier belongs to this so-called emissary."
"The Great Empire, huh? Interesting."
Jia Yan reflected quietly. He couldn’t recall anything about such a Great Empire from his memories, nor had he ever encountered an empire that would use such a name.
"If this Great Empire has already subdued the major empires, they must have heard of me."
"Under these circumstances, for them to come unafraid, they must be confident."
Jia Yan contemplated numerous possibilities and concluded that the opposing side had to possess considerable strength. Otherwise, they wouldn’t dare approach Earth knowing his power.
Nevertheless, Jia Yan remained unperturbed. Although his avatar lacked the devastating Brainwave Power of his true body, his mastery of strength and spatial abilities had significantly grown. Consequently, he could unleash an estimated one or even twofold increase in effective power—rendering the emissary inconsequential.
"In that case, let me meet this emissary tomorrow."
Jia Yan addressed Father Jia, Mother Jia, and Jia Lin calmly.
His decision garnered no objection from the Jia family. To them, Jia Yan represented Earth’s most formidable existence; his intervention promised an end to the emissary’s oppressive demands on the Earth Government.
"Alright, Brother, it’s all in your hands tomorrow," Jia Lin said, her tone relaxed as she nodded in agreement.
"Very well..."
Jia Yan casually acknowledged, treating the matter as an opportunity to unwind while his true body continued its journey.
