"Haha, Brother Jia Yan, you’re right! It’s really tough for us dignitaries to survive here in the Central Star Area. But I’m almost there, currently at the peak of dignitaries. Once I advance to a secondary powerhouse, I won’t be a servant anymore but the captain of a medium-sized cargo ship. Then you tell me which star you’re on, and I’ll come to pick you up. We’ll haul cargo together and forge a new tomorrow!"
Jia Yan felt speechless about the situation of these two great dignitaries; it was simply a world of difference compared to him.
This also made Jia Yan realize the importance of talent in the Genius Battlefield. Especially in the 132 Star Zone, even intermediate geniuses, who are extremely valuable, could only fall to such a status in the Central Star Area.
Through chatting, Jia Yan heard these two supreme monsters comparing their previous locales before coming to the Central Star Area. Even Jia Yan sighed in comparison; their promotion speed back in the Border Star Area, where they were considered geniuses, was even slower than being a servant in the Central Star Area. After all, they were not evolutionary creatures like Jia Yan and had no choice but to come here and become servants.
"Brother Jia Yan, we’re about to reach the next inhabited star. Is it alright to disembark there? We can’t deviate from the route."
"Okay, I’ll give you the travel expenses in a bit, really, thank you so much."
Jia Yan disembarked from the cargo ship, then took out a certain common biological medicine he received while in the Tianhe Force.
This medicine is effective for ordinary strong biological beings, but it had little effect on Jia Yan. Jia Yan tried it before, and the rest was put away back then.
"This... Could it be the Brain Fluid that has an immense effect on dignitaries? Brother Jia Yan, are you really giving this to us? It’s a very expensive item."
Both supreme monsters widened their eyes.
"I have no way to repay the life-saving grace; no item, however precious, is as important as life. Please accept it, thank you."
Jia Yan didn’t bother mentioning that he wasn’t very impressed by the medicine, simply brushing it off with a remark.
The two dignitaries didn’t insist much further, as the medicine was incredibly beneficial to them. They split the medicine in half using brainwave power and then expressed endless gratitude to Jia Yan.
Watching the departing cargo ship, Jia Yan wished them well for the future.
He then put such matters aside, knowing that even his own safety was currently at risk, so how could he concern himself with others.
"My current strength is just that of a dignitary. Although I have the secret weapon of cellular power, it’s not convenient to expose it. Or rather, I must find a way that even if it gets exposed, it cannot be linked back to me..."
Jia Yan retrieved the information from one of the departing supreme monsters about a so-called second-hand battleship seller.
"The Hong Hong Second-hand Ship Dealer..."
After reviewing the information, Jia Yan headed straight to the location of the passenger ships on the local planet.
In the Star Man Faction, there are many convenient passenger ships, with departure times similar to passenger buses on Earth.
Jia Yan boarded a passenger ship and ventured into the universe.
After a few ship transfers, and as two days passed, he bypassed the main planet of the Star Man Faction without stopping along the way and reached a commercial planet located on the opposing edge of the Star Man Faction.
"The Hong Hong Second-hand Ship Dealer is not far from here."
After asking for directions from a passerby, Jia Yan flew to the location of the second-hand ship dealer.
He did not fly long before arriving at a vast open space.
Here rested over ten old warships, and even some newer ones, although they all seemed to have some issues. At least from Jia Yan’s perspective, none of them were particularly appealing.
"Welcome, may I introduce something to you?"
As Jia Yan arrived at this open ground, a visually pleasing black creature flew over, exuding an exceptional golden-ratio body that even Jia Yan found visually satisfying, despite his usual dislike for alien races.
"I’m looking to buy a second-hand ship capable of interstellar travel. Do you have any recommendations?" Jia Yan asked.
The black creature’s eyes lit up. It should be known that dealing in second-hand ships isn’t as profitable as one might imagine, as most buyers are dignitaries and secondary powerhouses in need of interstellar travel ships and would prefer new ships. Although more could be made from interstellar ships among second-hand ships, the number of buyers was still low.
In truth, Jia Yan wasn’t against buying new stuff, but considering the limited ’currency’ he had from the Genius Battlefield and the procedures required for purchasing new ships which involved waiting, he couldn’t afford to waste time.
"Sir, do you have any specific standards for the interstellar ship you need? We currently have short-distance ships, long-distance ships, and even large multifunctional ships with living facilities. Are you interested in any particular type?"
"Long-distance ships, please. I’d like to see their performance and pricing."
Jia Yan knew that if he wished to escape the BeiTuan faction’s hold, a decent-performing ship was essential. While he wasn’t a top-notch pilot, he had flown enough ships to roughly judge their condition and cost-effectiveness.
The black creature brought out an electronic list.
Jia Yan looked over the list and understood that seeing any ships in person wasn’t easy, as many were being actively used by their previous owners who simply left information with the Hong Hong Second-hand Ship Dealer.
Jia Yan perused the long-distance ships but was inevitably a bit disappointed.
While some listed values for these long-distance ships were considered decent among ordinary second-hand ships, they fell short of Jia Yan’s requirements.
"After all, they’re second-hand; expecting them to match with the ships I’ve piloted before is somewhat unrealistic."
Jia Yan understood that neither the Adisa nor the previous Tianhe force warships he piloted, which were incomparable to these second-hand ships, could be found here.
"Sir, are you unsatisfied? You should know that the Hong Hong Second-hand Ship Dealer doesn’t falsify data. If you buy elsewhere, those ships might look good on paper but leave you stranded midway, risking your life."
The black creature, seeing Jia Yan unsatisfied, quickly spoke up to secure this business deal.
"I know."
Jia Yan nodded and flipped through the long-distance ship pages, glancing at the short-distance ships without much hope.
Unsurprisingly, none of the ships caught Jia Yan’s eye.
He then casually switched to the ’Special Ships’ page.
"Huh?!"
As Jia Yan browsed the limited-selection Special Ships page, he surprisingly paused.
Out of the few on the Special Ships page, a uniquely designed Metal Monster appeared in Jia Yan’s sight.
Its unusual design caught Jia Yan’s attention for a second glance.
"What is this?" Jia Yan looked at the black creature and pointed to the screen, asking about the Metal Monster.
"This? Sigh, I’ve told the customer service department several times to take it down, but they haven’t. I’m sorry, dear guest, this is a creation from the Liqiao force. As you know, the Liqiao force always has a bunch of eccentric tech enthusiasts. This is one of their creations from hundreds of years ago; we don’t even know who the original creator is. Basically, it is a ship with a conceptual forward design integrating battle armor and warship. However, it has high physical requirements for users. For hundreds of years, no one has been able to use it. We bought it at a great cost, but now it’s stuck here."
The black creature seemed disdainful toward the bizarre metal creation.
"A combination of battle armor and warship? Does it have physical requirements?"
Jia Yan mused, his compound eyes flashing with a peculiar light, "Excuse me, could I take a look at this item?"
Since there was no appealing ship, there was no harm in checking out the so-called conceptual ship.
"Uh, you want to see it? Alright, it’s just lying in our shop’s warehouse. I’ll show you, but don’t get your hopes up."
The black creature reluctantly shook its head. In fact, Jia Yan wasn’t the first strong one to express interest in the Metal Monster, but none had bought it, so he thought it wouldn’t be sold this time either.
Following the black creature’s lead, Jia Yan glanced at the warships parked on the ground, still finding none to his liking.
If he did not gain a desire to purchase this conceptual ship after viewing it, the trip would have been in vain.
"Here we are."
Soon, the black creature led Jia Yan to a massive single-story building, using a remote control to open the 300-plus-meter-tall facade.
It revealed a gargantuan warehouse spanning tens of thousands of square meters.
Inside lay a collection of dust-laden vessels, some already decayed, indicating their ancient past.
The black creature guided Jia Yan to a small corner and pointed to a black object ahead, "This is it. Please take a look."
"This?"
Jia Yan’s eyes focused.
Having just passed through the Liqiao force recently meant he was still curious about some of their items, especially the intricacies demonstrated by Xi Bala. Hence, he didn’t dismiss the so-called conceptual ship as the black creature did.
The metal block before him took a cubical form, different from its depiction on the list.
"Sir, it can transform and uses ample materials. It’s comprised of memory metal, with varied metals mixed well. But using it for this is a bit of a waste since many strong ones wear it without being able to move."
The black creature continued its introduction, sounding more like he wished to push Jia Yan away rather than making a sale.
"With its compact size, can it travel long distances? And what is its energy source?" Jia Yan asked, curious about the 200-plus-meter-high and wide folded conceptual ship.
Despite not having felt compelled to buy it yet, his curiosity about this peculiar ship only deepened.
