Chapter 1104: Chapter 35 Invitation [First Update]
"Oh? Are you sure your side admits defeat, Lord?"
Pushed to the brink by his opponent’s attack, Jia Yan did not feel that he was the one in danger. Instead, he asked the Tree Monster indifferently.
He was somewhat surprised. It seemed that the Tree Monster was not an ordinary High-space Level being—it had realized his true strength and had conceded defeat just as he was about to land a decisive blow on the Moth Monster.
It appeared there were many Strong Ones in the world. Jia Yan felt that he had not concealed his Power well, or else how could the other party surrender just before he unleashed his full strength!
"That’s right, our Mercenary Organization admits defeat! Jia Yan, I didn’t expect your Power to be this formidable. So formidable that I even see myself inferior, and to someone like me Birkan seems like a joke. To prevent injury on Birkan’s part, we admit defeat wholeheartedly. After all, Birkan, who you look down upon, is also a rare top-tier genius to us."
The Tree Monster looked at Jia Yan with a significant expression.
Besides him, all the monsters listened in amazement. The Tree Monster was conceding to Jia Yan? What had happened? Hadn’t Jia Yan been at a disadvantage this whole time? Even whether he could counter the next strike was uncertain, so why did the Tree Monster suddenly hurry to concede?
The Moth Monster was even more incredulous. He had never had much respect for the Tree Monster—he always believed his Power was comparable to that of Respected Level monsters. Now he couldn’t possibly agree with the Tree Monster’s statement.
"You bastard, I was about to win, and you say I lose? Jia Yan, it seems like you have been in cahoots with this guy for a long time. Wait, I’ll deal with you first, then kill the trash in this Mercenary Association and you. Die!"
His Power was already at its limit. The move still hovered in front of Jia Yan. Seeing his opportunity, he spat out his forelimb fiercely!
Boom!
The entire floor underwent a massive shockwave, and even the building shook. It should be noted that this was a safety floor created at great expense by the Mercenary Organization. Yet this strike’s vibration caused it to start breaking apart, showing how enormous the Energy of the move was.
Jia Yan looked at the Tree Monster somewhat speechlessly, noticing a trace of anger in his expression. From this, it was clear that this young Moth Monster was not really one of the Mercenary Organization’s own—or at least not a compliant one. For such a creature that wished him dead, Jia Yan could afford to be less merciful!
Furthermore, the other party considered Jia Yan to be a Sacred Powerhouse. If he showed no temperament of a Strong One at all, they might even begin to doubt his true identity!
"Hmph, do you really think you can win against me? You’re nothing but a frog in a well!" Jia Yan coldly huffed, echoing the inner thoughts of the Tree Monster.
Then, in the next critical moment, he moved his head.
With a twist, the opponent’s forelimb attack missed. Jia Yan’s speed transformed into something terrifyingly fast in that moment, his figure faintly vibrating with Space disturbances, making it hard for his opponent to see his actions or even discern his location.
His forelimb seemed to pass through Space, a trick Jia Yan had encountered in past opponents, such as Pai Lan from the Desolate Star System’s top ten Strong Ones and Rzanine, the commander of Tenth Army of the Red Tower Alliance.
And the move Jia Yan used seemed different. It directly pierced through Space and then suddenly appeared behind his opponent!
"Uh!" The Moth Monster looked in shock at what was before him. He had thought his strike would certainly pierce Jia Yan, solidifying his identity as the strongest youth, destined for rapid advancement to a high-ranking position in the Mercenary Organization’s Northern Star Region Branch.
But his attack went out only to see his opponent’s figure blur—he lost sight of Jia Yan!
Now he was horrified, with a bitter feeling arising from deep within his heart. He had always thought Jia Yan was very strong, something he had been worried about; he had always believed he could battle beings at the Dignitary Level. But when he actually fought with those Dignitaries, he realized they were merely playing with him...
Jia Yan was truly capable of directly killing Dignitaries. He might not admit it, but he always considered him his greatest enemy, and deep down, he always harbored a suspicion—was there really a significant gap between himself and Jia Yan?
Now, the truth lay before him. He couldn’t even catch Jia Yan’s speed!
"The gap is too vast..." This thought just began to rise within him.
Thud!
A sharp forelimb gently stabbed into his body from behind, and at the same time, a surge of Brainwave Power harshly rushed into the wound, directly extinguishing his last bit of Life Force without the slightest mercy!
"Jia... Yan!" The Moth Monster turned its head, only to see those cold, mocking eyes behind him.
Even as it collapsed to the ground, completely drained of Life Force, the Moth Monster couldn’t comprehend how its strength could be so vastly inferior to Jia Yan’s.
What it didn’t know was that if Jia Yan had used his full strength from the beginning, the Moth Monster might have been able to withstand a few blows, but its previous smooth success had made it careless, and after depleting too much energy, it could no longer withstand the fierce attack that Jia Yan had suddenly unleashed, resulting in its instant downfall.
It wasn’t just this monster who couldn’t understand; the other monsters nearby were also baffled, even the Tree Monster, which had earlier sensed that Jia Yan was concealing his real strength, couldn’t fathom how a Moth Monster, not lacking in strength, could be so easily annihilated.
This would surely send shockwaves across the entire Northern Star Domain, considering that this Bikkan was one of the most powerful beings among the young High-space Level in the entire Northern Star Domain!
No matter how much it thought, it couldn’t believe that Jia Yan was capable of killing the Moth Monster in one strike. Even a Sacred Powerhouse might not be able to achieve such a feat.
"You? Killed Bikkan? This..." The Tree Monster, somewhat astounded, glanced at Jia Yan, only to meet his calm gaze which, though ordinary, contained an intensity it dared not face.
The Tree Monster quickly looked away, pondered for a moment, then stiffly announced the result.
"In this test, Mister Jia Yan wins, and since Bikkan violated the principles of the contest wanting to kill Mister Jia Yan, and Mister Jia Yan accidentally killed Bikkan in self-defense, I rule that Bikkan was at fault first, and Mister Jia Yan is entirely blameless."
"Exactly, Mister Jia Yan simply possesses exceptionally high Strength but couldn’t control it properly."
The other monsters also cried out in agreement; they were all stunned by Jia Yan’s strength at that moment. The strike just now, without any accident, indicated that Jia Yan had cultivated his True Energy to an incredibly high level, barely a step away from the Respect Level of control over the universe, and they recognized his skill as extremely sophisticated, further augmented by his strength.
Such a terrifying powerhouse could well be considered a Dignitary.
How could they dare criticize Jia Yan? Even if one of the strong ones was somewhat related to Bikkan, they couldn’t say anything now, and any thoughts had to be withheld until they returned to headquarters.
"This gentleman named Bikkan? I’m very sorry, I couldn’t hold back and accidentally killed Mister Bikkan. Please convey my sincerest apologies to Mister Bikkan’s family." Jia Yan slowly levitated, leaving the corpse which would presumably be dealt with by someone later on.
Seeing Jia Yan rise, the monsters on the elevator platform all involuntarily stepped back; they now lacked confidence in the floor’s energy protection, Jia Yan’s strength having somewhat exceeded their expectations, who knew if there was any way to break through the barrier!
"Uh, we will surely convey Mister Jia Yan’s apologies," the Tree Monster reluctantly said, watching Jia Yan land beside it, internally cursing the higher-ups in the Mercenary Organization. They had misjudged Jia Yan’s power, thinking it would be enough to suppress him, but it now seemed that even sending a Respect Level might not suffice.
"That’s good. Oh...
Jia Yan’s body gently landed on the elevator platform, the soft sound causing a tremor in the hearts of the gathered monsters, scaring them stiff, none daring to move.
"Sir of the Mercenary Organization, is my test just this? I wonder if there’s anything else your organization would like me to do?" Jia Yan asked indifferently.
The Tree Monster blinked, then hastily put on a laugh: "No more, Mister Jia Yan’s strength exceeds our expectations, so any further tests would likely pose no challenge for you."
Of course, it said no more; if Jia Yan’s strength was of this caliber, the planned tests to see if he was a Sacred Powerhouse were needless. If he wasn’t a Sacred Powerhouse, then who was?
"Also, I want to represent our Mercenary Organization and sincerely invite you to join our organization. If you join, I dare not promise anything else, but at least in this Northern Star Domain, the organization can easily help you smooth out some matters! Even if you go to other nearby Starry sky areas in the future, the organization’s influence can still reach those places, which I believe would be helpful for your travels!" The Tree Monster spoke without any pause.
Normally not just anyone could join the Mercenary Organization, but a Sacred Powerhouse, especially one who might become an even greater powerhouse in the future, the Mercenary Organization definitely wouldn’t skimp on just one spot.
"Oh... You can help me smooth out matters, like what?" Jia Yan suddenly became interested upon hearing this. After all, even though the members of the Mercenary Organization he currently faced weren’t very strong, the actual power of the Mercenary Organization was beyond his imagination, even the Senior Light and Shadow held it in considerable awe.
If it weren’t for fearing this organization, why would Jia Yan agree to undergo a test for no apparent benefit? It was precisely because he dared not offend them!
Joining such an organization, and gaining an amulet, would indeed be a fine thing.
