The yard was well-maintained and basically didn’t need any repairs; they just needed to find some time in spring to tidy up the garden in the back.

When they neared the bus stop, she found a safe place and took out the things she had prepared in advance. This was her first visit to the military base to see her third brother, and she hadn’t given him any prior notice as she wanted to surprise him.

She had intended to go last time, but something came up and she was delayed, only to find out later that she wouldn’t have been able to see her third brother anyway since he was out on a mission during those days.

After boarding the bus and finding a seat, she immediately heard someone calling her, "Luo Qiao, Luo Qiao, is that you?"

Luo Qiao turned her head to look for the source of the sound and saw Zhou Xiaomin, whom she had met once before: "Xiaomin, what a coincidence."

Zhou Xiaomin immediately moved to sit next to Luo Qiao, "Are you heading to the military base?"

Luo Qiao replied, "Yes, I want to check on my third brother at the base and then go see my godmother and the rest."

Luo Siyan and Yuan Weihan were in the same unit, so Luo Qiao had called Tiong Shulan the night before to let her know she would be coming today. Coincidentally, Tiong Shulan had the day off and was at home.

After the bus started moving, Zhou Xiaomin noticed the amount of stuff Luo Qiao brought and asked, "Why did you bring so much stuff?"

Luo Qiao smiled lightly, "Some are for my third brother, and some are for my godmother’s family, so it added up when I was packing."

Zhou Xiaomin, looking at the large and small bags: "Okay, when we get off, I’ll help you with some of it."

By the time the two arrived at the base, it was already past ten o’clock. Luo Qiao filled out the information at the entrance of the family compound, indicating she was looking for Yuan Weihan and Tiong Shulan. A phone call was made, and shortly after, Tiong Shulan came rushing over.

With a look of joy, she said, "Qiaoqiao, mom missed you to death. You sneaky girl, you were in Capital City all this time and didn’t even come to stay for a few days. I really spoiled you for nothing."

Luo Qiao turned and asked, "Xiaomin, will you be busy in a while?"

Zhou Xiaomin replied, "I don’t really have anything, I’m just here to see my dad."

Tiong Shulan said, "Let’s go, come to my house together. I’ll invite your dad over for lunch at my place today."

Zhou Xiaomin said with a bit of embarrassment, "There’s no need, auntie. Dad and I will just eat at the canteen for lunch."

Luo Qiao chimed in, "Don’t refuse. I also need your help with something later."

Zhou Xiaomin then agreed, "Alright then, I’ll impose."

Tiong Shulan said with a smile, "Xiaomin, my Qiaoqiao hasn’t been to the family compound before. Later, could you show her around? Auntie will make something delicious for you two."

Along the way, Tiong Shulan introduced Luo Qiao to everyone they met: "This is my daughter, Luo Qiao."

Luo Qiao followed behind Tiong Shulan, greeting people all along the way, her face almost stiff from smiling.

Luo Qiao sorted out the items with a smile, turning to Tiong Shulan to say, "Mom, these are what I’ve brought for you, you can sort through them later."

Tiong Shulan instructed, "Take more for your third brother; he doesn’t have time to go out often."

Luo Qiao pointed to the items already set aside, "I have, I’ve already taken quite a lot. Xiaomin and I will head over now."

Tiong Shulan nodded and replied, "Okay, then go ahead."

Zhou Xiaomin walked along, explaining the situation there to her. Arriving at the barracks, they registered again, and after waiting outside for a while, they finally saw Luo Siyan running out.
