Lu Yichen muttered to himself, glanced at the snowman, and then shouted to Stone, "Stone, pack up, we’re leaving."

The next day, when Lu Yichen arrived, he was carrying a bunch of stuff, and Luo Qiao asked, "What are you carrying all this?"

Lu Yichen said, "The weather forecast says it will snow more in the coming days. Since it’s cold, it won’t go bad, so I’ve asked someone to buy some meat for you. Just store it under the shed in a basin, covered; it should last you two for a few days."

There Luo Qiao stood, watching Lu Yichen bustle about, her eyes welling up suddenly, feeling as if Lu Yichen was like a husband about to leave on a long journey, making sure everything was perfectly prepared for his wife and child at home, as if she and Stone couldn’t get by without him.

The coal under the shed might not be enough, so he went and bought another load a few days ago. He always felt as if they couldn’t make it without him.

She then took an old hat from the basket and placed it on top of the snowman’s head, saying, "Now it’s complete."

Watching him busy himself, her heart was filled with emotion.

On New Year’s Day, the two of them took Stone to watch a movie, bought some books at the library, had lunch at a state-run restaurant, strolled around the park in the afternoon, and for dinner, Luo Qiao cooked a few of her specialties.

After the meal, as usual, Lu Yichen cleaned up the dishes and said to Luo Qiao, "When I’m not here, after cooking, heat some water on the stove. I’ve asked someone to buy you a pair of rubber gloves; wear them when you wash dishes or clothes.
