Chapter 1107: Chapter 1107: Encountering Fellow Countrymen, Feeling Utterly Kindred

Thinking to herself that if there really were no suitable houses nearby, a slightly further one would do as well, Luo Qiao figured that in the worst case scenario, she could just take the bus to school or perhaps buy a car so she could take the kids out on weekends.

Boston Jun family: "Family head, what should we do now?"

"Since they have no regard for kinship and insist on confronting me, I can’t just sit back and do nothing. This seat was handed to me by my grandfather, and if they don’t accept it, they’re welcome to try and take it."

"Family head, what preparations should we make next?"

"Wait and see, and adapt to their moves by staying unchanging."

"Yes, I’ll make sure to keep a close eye on the second and fourth elders."

Jun Linghui’s eyes sparkled coldly: "We need to watch not only the second and fourth branches but also keep close tabs on my two dear younger brothers."

"Yes, family head."

"By the way, have we heard back from the people we sent back to China?"

"Still no news, and the people we had previously placed have also gone out of contact. I’m wondering if they ran into trouble?"

"Impossible. Among those we strategically placed, some were arranged by my grandfather in his early years, and those who are our own have been covertly working for us for five or six years. It’s impossible that they’ve all been swept up at once.

Besides, the people we sent this time are all experts, even if they can’t handle the men from the Gu and Lu Families, they should have no trouble with the women and children."

"Family head, I really don’t know much about this. None of the people, whether those placed by the old man before or those we implanted later, including those sent this time, have sent any news. We’ve tried contacting them repeatedly to no avail."

"Let’s wait another ten days or half a month. If there’s still no word, we’ll send someone over to investigate."

"Family head, we are at a critical moment here. Can we put the other side on hold for a while?"

Jun Linghui furrowed his brows and pondered, "Alright, but the score with my grandfather must be settled one way or another. I won’t let a single person from the Gu and Lu Families go, I will make them all pay."

Luo Qiao got up early in the morning, finished washing, took out a bowl of soy milk and two flower rolls to eat from her space, tidied up, and left the apartment.

Her first stop was the bicycle rental shop outside campus, where she rented a bike and then rode around the area. Whenever she encountered elderly locals, she would greet them and inquire about any housing opportunities in the vicinity.

After a whole morning without finding a suitable house – which was quite disappointing – she thought of dealing with her phone issues, having only rushed to send a quick message of safety to her family the day before. Today she would call them again and be sure to give them her number.

So she cycled to the cell phone store. As she was prepared, it didn’t take long for her to make a choice. Before coming, she had exchanged quite a lot of US dollars and kept them on her.

After handling everything, she suppressed the excitement in her heart, remembering it was the middle of the night back home, and left the store.

Leaving the phone store, she stumbled upon a Chinese restaurant, which cheered her up considerably. She felt a rush of excitement, locked her bike, and went inside.

Spotting the girl at the front desk, she felt a surge of kinship and approached, "Hello, fellow countryman."

The girl, who had been looking down at her orders, suddenly heard someone speaking Chinese, looked up abruptly, and beamed, "Hello, fellow countryman."

Both smiled and the girl asked, "Where are you from, and when did you arrive?"

Luo Qiao smiled softly, "From Capital City in China, I just arrived in Boston yesterday."

"Are you here to study or for a visit?"

"Studying."

"How impressive! Which school are you attending?"

"Harvard Medical School."

The person gave Loki Qiao a thumbs-up, welcoming her to sit down: "My name is Xie Minghua, you can call me Alisa. I am from Fujian, but I came here with my grandfather when I was very young and don’t have much memory of my hometown."

"My name is Luo Qiao. The motherland is thriving, you should visit when you have the chance."

"Meeting a fellow countryman here truly makes me happy. I’ll treat you to this meal."

Luo Qiao thought the restaurant was not far from the school and she would inevitably have to come here often in the future; she could bring something in return next time, "Alright, then I’ll gratefully accept this time, and later I’ll bring you something from home."

"That’s great. Wait here, I’ll call my family out to meet you, they will be thrilled."

Soon, several people came out from the back: an elderly couple, a middle-aged husband and wife, followed by a young man holding the hand of a little boy.

Xie Minghua happily introduced her family, "Luo Qiao, this is my grandfather, grandmother, father, mother, Big Brother, and my little nephew. My sister-in-law is out—she’s also of Chinese heritage."

Luo Qiao stood up, "Hello, I’m Luo Qiao."
