Chapter 1106 Looking for a House

Chapter 1106: Chapter 1106 Looking for a House

The girl named Linda was very enthusiastic and offered to take Luo Qiao to the real estate agency to check out their listings. There, they would be able to access more information and save a lot of time, which was exactly what Luo Qiao wanted.

Looking at the time, Linda said that the agency should still be open, and if they were in a hurry, they could even head there right now. Even if they couldn’t view any properties today, they could at least make an appointment to view houses the next day.

Luo Qiao really wanted to find a suitable property soon, so she left the school with Linda. The real estate agency was not far from the school.

They were received by a young man named Bo Xi. Just after they had sat down, Linda received a call from home. "Sorry, Miss Luo, I need to leave because of a family matter."

Luo Qiao didn’t correct her address and gently smiled. "That’s all right, see you tomorrow."

After leaving her phone number with Luo Qiao and telling her to call anytime she needed, Linda said goodbye and left.

After Linda departed, Luo Qiao discussed her needs with Bo Xi; she wanted to rent a house with a lawn, and it would be ideal if there was a backyard where she could plant flowers and vegetables.

Bo Xi shook his head, informing her that there definitely weren’t any houses like that near the school. If she wanted such a property, she would need to look further away from the school, which would mean she’d have to drive or take a bus to school.

Most nearby listings were apartments, many of which were shared rentals because the rent near the school was expensive.

Bo Xi introduced some options, but none quite met her expectations. She wanted a relatively quiet place where her children could feel comfortable; living in an apartment wasn’t ideal, not only because of the mixed crowd, but also the language barrier would be too inconvenient.

Luo Qiao apologized to Bo Xi saying none were suitable, and planned to look elsewhere the next day.

Bo Xi politely walked Luo Qiao to the door and mentioned he would keep an eye out for nearby properties. Luo Qiao left him the phone number of her school dormitory.

With only three days left before classes officially started, Luo Qiao’s mission these next few days was house hunting. After buying necessary items from a local grocery store near the school, she found that the dormitory only had shared rooms available—two-person and four-person rooms being common. She opted for a two-person room.

Upon returning to the dormitory, she arranged everything as she had thoroughly inspected the place upon moving in and was now ready to go out for dinner.

All the way to dinner, she was contemplating whether she should rent a place further away with a lawn, or a larger apartment. If they lived too far, she would also worry.

After dinner, while walking through the campus, she noticed it was almost eight o’clock, so she decided to find a payphone; the dormitory phone only received calls. She couldn’t make calls from it.

She planned to buy a mobile phone tomorrow. She had heard that the Motorola MicroTAC9800 was around $2,500 (approximately 15,318 yuan), which was quite expensive.

But for convenience, she needed to purchase one regardless of the cost.

She dialed the number and it was answered after just one ring. "Hello, is that you, Mom?"

"Yes, Baby Yanyan, you picked up so quickly."

"Mom, my sister and I have been waiting here for your call. Mom, is it daylight there now? Grandma Rong said it should be dark there now, is that true?"

"Yes, it’s already dark here. It’s eight o’clock in the evening here."

"Mom, why is it different?"

"It’s because of the time difference. Simply put, you see the sun earlier, and America is about twelve hours behind. We can discuss the exact reasons when we meet. Is that okay?"

"Okay, Mom, have you had dinner?"

"I have. Did you and your sister eat your meals properly?"

"Yes, we both did. Mom, now talk to my sister."

Yanyan actually wanted to continue talking, but her sister was watching eagerly, and Yanyan felt a bit embarrassed. Yueyue took over the phone. "Mom, did you find a house?"

"Not yet, my dear. I looked today but didn’t find anything suitable. I’ll keep looking tomorrow and let you know as soon as I find something, okay?"

"Okay, Mom, don’t rush and wear yourself out."

"Thank you, my sweet Yueyue, for being concerned."

"Mom, do you want to speak to Grandma Rong?"

She had heard Grandma Rong mention that international calls were especially expensive. "Grandma Rong, it’s for you."

Rong Daniang took the phone. "Qiaoqiao, everything is fine at home, don’t worry."

Luo Qiao smiled. "Alright, thanks for everything. I’ll hang up now."

Rong Daniang quickly told the children to say goodbye. The two kids spoke into the phone: "Mom, goodbye."

After hanging up, Luo Qiao felt rejuvenated. Thinking about how she would start looking for a house first thing in the morning, she was determined to find a suitable house quickly and bring them over.
