Reborn as a Mind-Reading Empress
Chapter 855: Why Is She Hiding?

Chapter 855: Chapter 855: Why Is She Hiding?

Likewise, Elrond had already shown the legitimacy of his powers to them repeatedly in the past.

After Ferdinand lived in the empire without meeting whoever it was, he was so sure they must have made a mistake or were simply saying things to make him act.

The other primordial dragons sent here all met their mate before they turned "twenty."

It was something they instantly knew at a glance upon encountering the said person.

Yet, Ferdinand did not feel anything with all the ladies they made him meet.

Thus, Ferdinand insisted on returning to Estrella and letting Raymond takeover the throne.

But Elrond refused to let him return, saying things like he must meet his mate no matter what.

The Dragon God even threatened to extend Ferdinand’s life even longer if he kept being stubborn.

Thus, Ferdinand had no choice but to do as they say after that.

Elrond and the Dragon God insisted Ferdinand must remain in the human realm; or else, he would lost his one and only chance because his mate was already waiting for him.

And that he would regret it for the rest of his life if he did not meet her.

He did not believe it one bit anymore.

However, Ferdinand remained in the empire simply so as not to get his life extended.

He did not believe he would ever get a mate.

Yet, later on, he met Arabella and he knew instinctively — she was his mate.

Of course, Ferdinand did not want to admit it and simply thought he was curious about her.

Who would have thought he would be helpless and end up doing anything and everything just so she would become his wife.

And once he knew he truly did like her, there was no turning back.

He could not unlearn nor discard the feelings he gained no matter what he did.

And it made him furious and crazy when he learned she already had a lover.

After all, they said she was his mate,

That she had been waiting for him.

Yet, all he got from her was fearful eyes.

Arabella was once so terrified of him and it clearly quickly escalated to hate.

Ferdinand shivered as he recalled the way Arabella’s eyes looked at him in the past.

’Damn. Thank goodness, her eyes had softened now.

I don’t want to ever be stared at by her with that look again.

It made me feel like I had committed all possible crimes against her.’

"Your Majesty, are you alright?" Raymond and the others noticed.

"Your Majesty is not possibly sick, right?"

Zion looked like he was hesitating whether he should check Ferdinand just in case.

"I’m fine. I just recalled something," Ferdinand sighed.

’Why do I keep thinking of Arabella?

I didn’t come here to see her.

I miss her and I want to see her but I should focus.

But... Why is her scent so strong in this room?’

Ferdinand looked around and noticed the Jasmine flowers on a vase by the window.

’Ah, was it because of those flowers?

Then, where is she right now?

Why does her presence feel like she’s far away?

But, I can feel her nearby.’

Ferdinand looked around the room again and stared at a seemingly vacant spot.

’This is Alvis’ spell!

Why is she hiding from me?!

Did she not want to see me?!!’

There was a painful pang in his chest.

There was not a day Ferdinand did not miss her even while he was busy.

He still longed to see her every single day.

Did she not feel the same?

Did Arabella not miss him?

Or was she angry at him about something?

Ferdinand glanced at Alvis and the latter simply raised a brow, pretending not to understand why Ferdinand was looking at him.

Ferdinand stared at the spot he felt where Arabella was.

He could not see her due to Alvis’ spell but he could feel her.

It was as if she was staring back at him right now.

’Should I talk to her now?

But if she’s angry...

Ferdinand recalled the time Arabella got angry at him in Medeus.

Back then, she ignored him and did not want to speak with him.

Just recalling it sent chills down his back.

"Is something wrong, Your Majesty?"

Raymond and everyone else had followed his gaze and stared at the spot where Arabella was.

"Why not continue this meeting somewhere else?

Alwin won’t be able to rest properly with all of you here," Alvis suggested.

Ferdinand instantly knew Alvis was trying to kick them out to divert their attention.

’Since when were Alvis and Arabella this close?’

Ferdinand knew Arabella liked elves. And her eyes especially shined when the elf king was mentioned.

Alvis himself was married as well and already had children.

Ferdinand debated whether he should be worried about this or not.

But it seems he does.

Alvis’ looks and body type was the kind Arabella preferred. And she already liked elves from the get go.

The way she spoke about Alvis, she seemed very much honored to have met him.

’And now, she’s hiding from me using Alvis’ magic.’

"Your Majesty, should we head to the meeting hall?"

Zion and Raymond looked back and forth between Ferdinand and Alvis.

Alvis smiled with such mirth in his eyes as if he was having a ton of fun in this situation.

’This bastard!

Is he mocking me?

Had he been saying all sorts of nonsense to Arabella while I was gone?

Is this why she’s hiding from me?’

Ferdinand did not want to be rude since Alvis helped greatly in war with Crux but he could not take it anymore and said, "Why won’t you return home now Elf King?"

"I still have business to do in the human realm. And I need to wait until Alwin recovers," Alvis maintained his smile and replied politely.

It further irked Ferdinand since Alvis was intentionally being falsely polite to irritate him more.

Ferdinand took a deep breath and said, "Alright. Let’s head to my study."

He felt Arabella’s eyes on him as he walked to the door.
