Reborn as a Mind-Reading Empress
Chapter 842: Ingrates

Chapter 842: Chapter 842: Ingrates

Arabella understood that talented people like Ivan had to go at their own pace for them to shine their brightest.

This was the same reason Ferdinand simply provided everything Alwin needed and was allowed to learn and master what he wanted.

People like them had to be allowed to play and explore as they wish without getting shackled by this and that.

Alwin excelled in everything as well and actually did better than expected even in archery and swordsmanship. He simply lacked the interest in it since he preferred magic.

Ferdinand still made Alwin learn it though since he also needed it.

There were also times Ferdinand slacked off on those because he thought he was already strong without them anyway.

But it was what led him to getting caught by his enemies or even humans when he was younger.

There were times it cost him his horns and his wings before.

After he learned his lesson, he learned everything to never experience the humiliation and pain he experienced again.

Alwin had not gone through those yet since he excelled in everything.

And Ferdinand, Raymond, Zion, and Elmir could not help but prevent it from happening as well. They all know Alwin had to learn his lesson by experiencing things in life but they cannot help but run to his side at the slightest scream of pain.

Was it because he was the only child they had to take care of in a while?

The days went by in flash and it was finally time for the attack on Crux to commence.

Ferdinand was in one of the highest mountains overlooking all the territories afflicted with the pest and diseases.

There was a time he thought he felt a presence here so they came to check this location but found no one here.

They discovered it had a good view of a vast part of Valeria. It made him wonder if someone had gone here to spy on them.

He tried letting them remain free for days so they could catch whoever tried spying on them but no one came.

Thus, he stayed here instead in times he needed to watch over the territories at the same time and simply used spells to further enhance his vision.

The fires were alive and burning today too since they had to keep burning any infected plants.

Rather, they were planning to burn every plant here that could serve as nourishment for the pests that kept multiplying rapidly no matter how many they catch or kill.

They could regrow the plants later after the winter and the pest had died out or were eradicated.

Even when they used magic to eradicate as many pests as they could, there seemed no end to them since they had already laid their eggs or reproduced before the outbreak.

{Your Majesty, everything is ready. The attack is about to commence.} Zion reported.

{Alright. Begin.} Ferdinand responded.

And as the attack on Crux commenced, Ferdinand watched over these territories.

He closed his eyes to focus on Alwin and Zion’s presence in the meantime.

Alwin went from the Imperial Palace to the borders while Zion remained in Riva as planned.

Ferdinand smiled at the warm presence he felt near Zion.

It was Arabella’s.

Rendell was there as planned too.

Shifting his focus on Alwin, Ferdinand felt him teleport to Crux twice. He had done his task as planned.

Once Alwin returns to Riva, Zion would go to his post at the borders with the Grand Commander.

"Your Majesty, my apologies for disturbing you. There’s a problem in Sibruh," the magician reported.

[Alwin had completed his task so it should be fine now.]

Ferdinand sighed and opened his eyes.

"What’s wrong with Sibruh again?" he said as he glanced in the direction of Sibruh’s capital.

The people had gathered and were marching for the castle. Soon enough, they began attacking the knights guarding the castle.

On the other territories, the people had also begun to riot and throw all sorts of things to the knights.

The knights could not fight back when the civilians were not holding weapons. They were getting thrown all sorts of dirt, mud, and so on.

"What the hell is wrong with these people?!" Ferdinand frowned at the sight.

He had been with these knights since he came here to the human realm. He had watched a lot of them grow and even trained them himself.

Meanwhile, the elderly ones had been good advisors to him when it came to his relationship with Arabella.

And they were getting treated here so disrespectfully.

’Damn it. These ungrateful lot!’ Ferdinand was annoyed at the sight.

"Let the knights of the Sibruh household deal with their own problems. Only send some of our men if they cannot hold out."

The Former Count Sibruh had done a lot of wrong to his people so their behavior was understandable.

However, the people going against his Imperial Knights and treating them like trash was unacceptable.

"Let’s head to those areas with the rampaging crowd. Tell the other magicians to prioritize barriers to shield the knights from all those crap for now. If those people don’t stop imprison them all. I don’t care about the number. We could make temporary prisons for them," Ferdinand ordered.

His knights were already demotivated enough and now they were even respected.

Humans break so easily. Even these slightly sturdy knights would break when they are treated like this.

’Argh. Why did this damn Empire have to be this vast anyway?’ Ferdinand suddenly regretted conquering more lands that added a lot of territory here.

It gave him more work to do.

If these people were not part of Valeria, he could have let the situation here alone so these people would see what would happen if they did not come here to interfere.

Ferdinand gritted his teeth.

They were preventing a far larger disaster that could span for years by sacrificing several months but these people just refuse to listen to explanation.

Perhaps letting them experience the disaster was better.

A few years of drought and famine should teach them a lesson.

These territories did not particularly have major contributions to Valeria either.

If the other territories knew what they were exhausting and experiencing just to protect these ungrateful smaller territories, they would have had them abandoned.
