Reborn as a Mind-Reading Empress -
Chapter 793: Task Delegation
Chapter 793: Chapter 793: Task Delegation
"What about your younger siblings?" Nadia inquired.
Everyone’s gaze went to Odette, their interest caught when the younger siblings were mentioned.
Odette glanced at Arabella wordlessly asking for permission if it was alright to speak. When Arabella nodded, she replied to Nadia’s query.
"Gwyneth, my sixth sibling and younger sister is doing her best in calming and reassuring the families of those who had not yet returned from Crux. Meanwhile, Frances, my seventh sibling and younger sister are watching over the education of our two youngest siblings. The three of them present with musical instruments to help boost our people’s morale," Odette explained.
"Wow! Everyone is so diligent," Nadia was genuinely amazed. She could relate to Odette’s siblings the most since she had felt the same in what happened to Safiro.
[Amazing indeed! Almost all of them have a task and contribution in the upcoming war while I am here hesitating.] Felix internally scolded himself.
"Your Majesty, I’ll be helping as well!" Felix made up his mind.
[Odette and even her younger sister are already helping. There must be something I can do too. This is my chance to be useful to Her Majesty.] Denzel thought.
"I will help as well, Your Majesty," Denzel decided as well.
[Since Odette is tasked with interviews, there should be a task I can do as well.] Norbert concluded.
"I will go as well, Your Majesty," Norbert announced.
[What?! Then, I’m the only one left?! What should I do? What would my tasks be?! Ugh, whatever! I need to be useful to Her Majesty too! Everyone will get ahead of me if I don’t go.] Narcissa fretted.
"I will go as well, Your Majesty," Narcissa was the last to agree but it was because of the pressure of the others going.
"I see. Everyone is going then," Arabella smiled.
She did not want to force them but she also hoped all of them would agree to go since it would be a great exposure for them who had been coddled by the best households in Valeria.
It was for the best that they learn about the real happenings in Valeria now instead of later.
Arabella knew it might be difficult for Narcissa who looked down on commoners.
However, she hoped that the issue with Ivan last time had helped Narcissa see commoners in a new light and be more considerate of them.
It would also be good for Narcissa to see just how much some people had gone through in life so she should not feel entitled she had the right to treat them badly even more just because they were commoners.
Narcissa needed to see real suffering so she would understand people had various circumstances and pain.
In her previous life, Arabella did not know about it as well, or rather knew, but forgot and closed off her heart after she thought she lost her son.
She knew it was difficult to remain open-minded while suffering and one may not fully grasp a situation without having to experience it themselves.
Thus, in times like this, giving her assistants exposure was all she could do.
However, Arabella hoped Narcissa and her assistants would realize and understand it early on without having to suffer themselves just as Nadia and Odette did.
Arabella then continued with delegating their tasks, "Since this is your first time, for most, the tasks are quite simple like helping serve or distribute food, helping them get to their beds and quarters, distributing beddings, or sending those whom you notice need more help from the doctors or magicians."
They might think these were tasks for maids and butlers but they needed to know how to lower their pride and do these tasks as well when necessary since they are civil servants.
The knights helped in doing these with the magicians last time.
There were still a lot of knights they could call on but Arabella, Raymond, and Ferdinand had decided to give a different experience to their assistants.
Thus, though the knights were called as well, they still made their assistants take part in this with the reason of a lack of hands.
"Odette, since you have your task now, you may go back to working," Arabella dismissed Odette so she could take care of her current tasks and clear her desks before the war begins.
"Yes, Your Majesty. My deepest gratitude for your grace and kindness to Prudencians," Odette bowed deeply. Her gratitude was heartfelt.
"You are most welcome. It is my duty as Empress," Arabella smiled.
Odette then went back to her table and Rendell closed Arabella’s door so their voices would not be heard outside.
Arabella then continued delegating tasks.
"Denzel, Egbert, Felix, Narcissa, Norbert, Oscar, and Ronald; all of you will be assisting in the third step. Mainly, food distribution or helping serve meals. Be observant on what is needed around you and go to help where it is necessary," Arabella explained.
"Yes, Your Majesty," they all accepted except for Narcissa who was hesitating and lost in thought.
[I will have to serve food to commoners? What will Father and Mother say?! My friends will laugh at me and say I became the assistant of the Empress only to become a low ranked maid.] Narcissa thought.
’She’s hesitating again. Would her parents scold her because of this?’ Arabella wondered if it has something to do with rules and upbringing in the Ryvaleh household.
She had hoped Narcissa would go to gain experience. However, if she could not due to her circumstances, then it’s alright.
"Narcissa, what about you?" Arabella inquired.
"Uhm..." Narcissa gulped nervously.
[Is she still prejudiced to commoners even after Ivan showed her his capabilities?] Ronald wondered.
"Can you not do it due to something?" Arabella inquired gently yet Narcissa flinched.
[If I don’t go, everyone else will get ahead of me. I will also look lazy for not participating. Fine, I just won’t tell everyone else. Yes, I just have to keep my task a secret!]
"I will do it, Your Majesty," Narcissa concluded.
"It’s alright not to go if you feel like you should not. You can remain here in the office and do your tasks as usual," Arabella offered.
