Chapter 530: Your Father is An Elf

When they went to her study, the two still looked pale and they were not able to do as much work as they could usually do given the amount of time that passed. They were distracted by the events earlier.

"Greetings to Your Majesty," they rose and bowed stiffly. Even more so when Ferdinand as well.

"Ivan Meyer, you just witnessed and are about to learn more about things you should have never known. Swear with your life that you will never reveal this to anyone," Ferdinand began.

He sounded like he was making a threat, so Ivan tensed even more than he already was.

[I wish I wasn’t here when it happened!] Ivan internally cried.

"Ivan, that wasn’t a threat. His Majesty only meant that this is a very important matter.

"This is a secret that had been kept for generations. Only a select few were allowed to know. And you are about to know things that you would normally think were impossible. So, we want your word that you will never reveal this to anyone no matter how outrageous or unbelievable you find it.

"Of course, you can be punished accordingly if you dare go against your word and it could go as far as meaning your death. Revealing it to other nations is considered treason and of course, is punishable by death," Arabella clarified.

’I’m sorry, you ended up getting involved in this. As long as you do not betray us, I will do my best to vouch for you and ensure you do not die because of this,’ Arabella felt bad for him but there’s nothing they could do about it anymore since it already happened.

If it wasn’t Ivan who had such a good memory who was there with them, they could have just made him pass out and made him think he had a weird dream.

But with Ivan, that wasn’t possible, so they had to explain as well before he went to the wrong conclusions. He would remember it perfectly well no matter how he thought of it as weird, he would realize it was not a dream.

"Yes, Your Majesty. I swear with my life that I will never reveal it to anyone," Ivan made the oath.

They asked Ronald and he also swore an oath.

"As you have seen and heard earlier, the guest was the Former King of the Elves. Elves are real. And Ronald is half-human, half-elf," Arabella began.

They were her assistants, so it was her job to explain to them. Ferdinand was there only to correct her in case she made a mistake or revealed too much. He had told her what she could and could not tell them.

Since Ferdinand would not be by her side for a while, he thought they could take this as an opportunity for Arabella to have a fellow human know about the long-lived races and be by her side to support her.

Knowing about part of the truth could help Ivan assist Arabella more effectively. Thus, Ferdinand had allowed him to know more than what he witnessed.

It wouldn’t have been possible with the old rules of Estrella. But since the rules have changed, they could allow Ivan to know more as well, as they inform Ronald about his true roots.

[I knew it. I couldn’t have been dreaming. I woke up just fine this morning. And Her Majesty worked with us until the guest barged in.]

Ivan pinched his hand.

[See? I can feel it.]

There was a red mark on the back of his hand, so Arabella knew it wasn’t the first time he had done that. He had repeatedly done it earlier for it to have turned red like that.

[So, elves exist, and I am one of them?!]

Ronald touched his ears and hair.

[I tried thinking this must have been a magic trick. Or some kind of hallucination our minds were playing on us. Or as Ivan said, this could be a dream. But we both perfectly recall that we had woken up early this morning and prepared as usual before heading to work.]

"I know it’s hard to believe but it’s the truth. As you both can see, Ronald’s appearance changed. I believe you also heard that this was because of his exposure to a great amount of mana from the Former Elf King. It awakened his dormant elf traits. Thus, Ronald now has pointed ears, white hair, and other traits an elf would have. It will be explained in detail by your father later," Arabella continued.

The two looked bewildered but that was the truth.

"So, my father is an elf?" Ronald asked for verification and enlightenment.

"Yes. Your father is a full-blooded elf. Elves, and other creatures we thought to have only been made-up tales exist in real life. They are called the long-lived races since they live much longer than humans do," Arabella added, and her assistants gulped.

[What exactly are those other creatures? There are many tales about existences aside from humans. And how long do they live?] Ivan was curious but didn’t dare ask.

[I don’t know how to process this. My whole life I thought I was fully human without a single doubt. I didn’t even think about the possibility of other existences. Yet, I am one of them.]

"Does my mother and my siblings know about this?" Ronald wondered if he was the only one left in the dark or all of them.

"Your Mother does but your siblings do not."

"Raymond, I mean, His Excellency do not know as well?"

"Ah, he knows. But His Excellency is a different kind," Arabella glanced at Ferdinand.

[A different kind?] Ronald tilted his head in further confusion.

"Raymond is not an elf. He is a dragon." Ferdinand revealed.

""D-Dragon?!!"" Ivan and Ronald balked. "They are real too?!!"

They both composed themselves and quickly apologized when Ferdinand gave them a cold gaze.

[Right. His Majesty is called the Dragon of Eliora. And Valerian Royalty is said to be descendants of dragons.] Ivan fixed his expression.

[Does this mean Raymond has the strength of a dragon that had been written down in the founding myth?]

"Yes. His Excellency is a full-blooded dragon. Just as His Majesty is," Arabella added.

The two could not help but gawk at Ferdinand. Then lowered their gaze and bowed in apology for daring to stare at him.

[Wait. Full-blooded? He is my older brother so he should be half dragon half elf.]

"But he is my older brother. How come he is a full-blooded dragon?" Ronald decided to inquire.

It was easier for him to believe dragons existed due to the Valerian founding myth and history.
