Chapter 529: Just to Test Their Skills for Improvement [Bonus Chapter]

"Alright. You may tag along. But only if Elrond approves of it. Go ask for his permission first," Ferdinand agreed for Alvis to go with him after Arabella’s explanation.

"I will. I was planning to speak with him anyway."

With that, Alvis said his goodbyes to pay a visit to Elrond next.

The others inside the room bowed and excused themselves as well since they didn’t need to guard her closely anymore with Ferdinand around.

"He’s finally gone," Ferdinand sighed and wrapped his arms around Arabella’s waist.

It didn’t seem to be enough for him since he carried her to his lap and held her tighter. Burying his face in the crook of her neck.

"What’s wrong? Do you not get along with Alvis?" Arabella wondered since his acting like he was trying to comfort himself by doing this.

"Alvis?" Ferdinand frowned at hearing Alvis’ first name from her.

’Does he see Alvis as another threat? Isn’t he already married?’

Arabella had assumed that Alvis was already married since he was the King of the Elves and Alwin’s Uncle. He had even watched over the Fairy King and Queen’s children.

"He said I can call him by his name since I outrank him because I’m your mate."

"I see."

"Why? You seem to be sulking yet relieved at the same time?" Arabella cupped her husband’s face.

"I won’t be able to see you again, so I want to be with you until we leave," Ferdinand kissed her.

"Oh, yes of course. I want to be with you two," Arabella wrapped her arms around his neck and gave him a peck.

Ferdinand smiled and kissed her before saying the other reason.

"I was relieved because Alvis didn’t cause as much of a ruckus as I thought. I thought he would cause quite a scene when he hears about Alwin, but he did it much toned down than I thought. Maybe because you were the one here instead of me."

"Eh? What would he have done if you were the one here?"

"He would have furiously demanded an explanation and attacked me while he was at it. Of course, I would fight back."

Ferdinand explained that if it was him who was here, he would have gotten into a fight with Alvis first before they talked about Alwin.

"He would dare fight you?"

"Yes. He is quite powerful. He is the eldest among the elves now so he’s confident. Of course, he knew he would never win against me, but having a reason to pick a fight with a Primordial is quite rare for them. He would have loved to test what he could do against one."

"Is everyone here that eager to fight?" Arabella wondered. She covered her mouth when she realized she said it out loud.

"Haha," Ferdinand chuckled, and she just loved how it brightened his face. It felt like it had been eons since she heard him laugh.

"It’s not a fight to kill each other. Everyone just wants to test their skills. The stronger your opponent the better, since it will reveal what you are lacking. They will know what they need to improve. I once was like that too."

’Once like that? Isn’t he still the same?’ Arabella wanted to say.

But she realized Ferdinand was already at the apex. He was one of the strongest in Estrella and fighting with his fellow Primordials had not led to his death either so their strengths must not have been that far apart even if he was the youngest.

"Then, why are you relieved? Wouldn’t you have loved to be in a fight? It’s been a while seen you were in one, right?"

"That’s true. But you are here. If we fought, we would have ended up emitting too much mana. It would be dangerous for you, your maids, and your assistants."

"Oh, thank you," she gave Ferdinand a peck for being considerate not just of her, but also of the people with her.

"And we might end up ruining the whole island," Ferdinand added.

’Right. They are that powerful,’ Arabella was relieved she was indeed the one who was here.

"Wait! Is that why he accidentally awakened Ronald’s sleeping abilities? He was ready for a fight? If it was you in my study, he would have attacked?!" Arabella gawked at her husband when she recalled that.

"He did what?!" Ferdinand instantly checked if her body was alright. He sighed in relief when he didn’t find anything wrong.

[That bastard. I need to give him an earful. He even entered Arabella’s study without approval.]

"Let’s go see your assistants. I do feel Ronald’s presence does feel more like an elf now. I need to check on him. His mana might go berserk since it was forcefully triggered," Ferdinand rose with her in tow.

"Ah, Alvis already cast a spell on him, so his mana won’t surge."

Arabella retold what happened earlier.

"I see. So, Ivan even witnessed it all?"

"Yes."

"Let us go speak with them then," Ferdinand settled her on her feet.

Arabella was enjoying being in Ferdinand’s arms, but they needed to explain things to her assistants first.

Ronald and Ivan may be going to all sorts of wrong conclusions from overthinking what happened.

Ferdinand said that Ivan’s memories could be tampered with so he would not remember what he witnessed.

But Ferdinand didn’t want to do it since it could cause some damage to Ivan’s memories. And he was such a bright talent with superb memories.

Tampering with his memories or hypnotizing him could cause a serious shock to someone who had such a good memory. Even if he could no longer recall it, he would keep feeling that he had forgotten something he should remember.

Ivan might begin to doubt himself when he realizes there were things he had forgotten and could not remember no matter how he tried to recall them.

After knowing that, Arabella was heavily against it too. She knew Ivan could be trusted and tightlipped when told to keep a secret.

Thankfully, Ferdinand decided to just make Ivan swear an oath instead.

When they went to her study, the two still looked pale and they were not able to do as much work as they usually could do given the amount of time that passed because they were distracted by the events earlier.

"Greetings to Your Majesty," they rose and bowed stiffly. Even more so when it was to Ferdinand.

"Ivan Meyer, you just witnessed and are about to learn more about things you should have never known. Swear with your life that you will never reveal this to anyone," Ferdinand began.
