Reborn as a Mind-Reading Empress
Chapter 448: I Can Feel Your Pain

Chapter 448: I Can Feel Your Pain

Doing it with Ferdinand vigorously helped keep her mind off the memories and helped assure her that in this life, she was loved and desired by him.

"What kind of memory did you see the other night?" Ferdinand inquired. He figured she did not want to sleep because of those.

"Nothing much. Just the usual," Arabella half-lied. It was indeed like the previous memories she had told him. But it wasn’t ’nothing much.’

[She’s lying again.]

"Arabella, if it’s making you not want to fall asleep, it must have been terrible. Please tell me about it," Ferdinand rose and put on a bathrobe too.

"You agreed to wait until I stop having those nightmares," she reminded him.

[Nightmares? It must have indeed been all about sad memories again.]

’I shouldn’t have referred to them as nightmares.’

But what else would those be? She rather preferred if those were just nightmares and had no truth in them.

It became rather scary to tell Ferdinand; since once he confirms he does remember those, it verifies such tragedies were truths and not a creation of her mind.

"I did say that. But I have been dying to know. I formerly intended to wait until you were ready to tell me. But I could tell the memories you had been seeing are bothering you so much."

"They don’t. I’m perfectly fine," Arabella avoided his eyes and walked to the door.

Ferdinand caught up to her and embraced her from behind.

"Arabella, I treasure you more than anything in this world," Ferdinand gave her a squeeze.

It felt so good that it made her want to cry in his arms and tell him everything.

"I know."

She needed to leave before she spills.

"Let go," she tried to break free but he wrapped her tighter in his arms so she could not escape him.

"Never."

"Ferdinand, I’ll just go and take a bath," she reasoned, and he sighed deeply.

"Arabella, I want to protect you from everything that gives you pain. I can feel you hurting. And I don’t like it in the least bit. I hate seeing you suffer. And yet, that’s exactly what I had been watching the past few days. I can’t keep watching it anymore."

Hearing those words from him made Arabella freeze. She bit her lip and tried to come up with an excuse to tell him.

But she couldn’t think of any.

Not when he was saying such things to her.

Not when she felt so loved and safe in his arms despite all the tragic endings she had seen in those memories.

"Arabella, please talk to me. Please, I’m right here," Ferdinand pleaded. "I don’t want you suffering on your own. No matter what those memories were, please tell me."

Arabella couldn’t take it anymore. She turned around and embraced him too. And her tears spilled as he comforted her. She then told him about all the memories she had been seeing the past few days.

"I’m sorry you had to see all those. I wish I could stop you from getting a glimpse of any more of those," Ferdinand gave her a squeeze.

[But to do that, I would have to use magic that allows me to intrude with the mind. Would she allow me to use something like that on her? I’m also not sure if it would work since it may be one of the gods letting her see those. What purpose do they have?]

Arabella tensed upon hearing that thought from her husband. She couldn’t let him use that kind of magic on her since she had other secrets, she was hiding from him.

[She tensed up. She must have heard me. This meant a ’No,’ right?]

"Arabella it makes me curious what you held back from what you just told me," Ferdinand noticed that she had been holding back something.

Since he asked directly, she had no choice but to tell him.

"Ferdinand, it must be because of the destructive hibernation you had. You said you cannot recall the name and face of those ladies, right?"

"Yes."

"Ferdinand, the lady you met when you were caught by humans was called Ellie. She looked exactly like me," Arabella began, and Ferdinand was wide-eyed.

"The next river nymph was called Ara and she looked exactly like me except for the color of her hair and eyes. The elf Eleanor too..." she enumerated everyone.

Ferdinand was speechless at what she just told him. He stared at her and tried to focus on his memories of the past.

He gasped as Ellie’s appearance finally appeared clearly in his thoughts.

"What’s going on?! You do look exactly like Ellie," Ferdinand stared at her and compared her to Ellie’s image in his mind.

He focused on his memories about the other ladies too and he was able to recall their appearance one after the other.

[What’s going on?! Why do I remember their names and appearance only now? And everyone does look so much like Arabella.]

"Arabella, can you wait for me here for a second?" Ferdinand suddenly asked.

"Yes, of course," Arabella was puzzled but she agreed.

He vanished and reappeared after several seconds. His presence was so much stronger than before and even his aura was so much more powerful.

Arabella could tell he was in his dragon body this time. He only turned to his human form.

"Please allow me to check you for a bit," Ferdinand asked, and Arabella nervously nodded since he was already set on checking her.

’This wouldn’t reveal my other secrets to him, right?’ she wondered as Ferdinand’s eyes glowed as he used magic.

[This soul. This presence. It’s indeed the same! What’s going on? Why didn’t I notice last time I brought her here and used these same eyes? Ah, no... Her soul isn’t easy to see since it was shrouded in something like a fog. I had to further enhance my sight to be able to see it clearly even though I should have been able to see with one glance using these eyes.]

"Arabella, you are the one I kept encountering so many times," Ferdinand exclaimed. "I still cannot recall how many of your reincarnations I have met before. But I am certain. Those ladies in the memories you saw, they were your past reincarnations."

Arabella didn’t need to say it anymore. Ferdinand was able to tell.
