Chapter 437: Watching Your Husband Flirt [Bonus Chapter]

Once they were done eating, they rested and had some tea. It was then that Arabella recalled the attack on Medeus.

"Ferdinand, has Zion returned?"

"No, not yet. He must still be following the attackers around," Ferdinand said nonchalantly and took a sip of his tea. He wasn’t worried in the least bit.

She knew it was because he trusted Zion’s abilities.

But she also knew Ferdinand could be so chill about his people sometimes even though Raymond told him that among the reasons why humans were able to outsmart the long-lived races and almost wiped them out was because they were too relaxed.

"Has he contacted you or the others?"

"No. I believe he’s not contacting us since it may lead to his presence getting noticed by them."

After all, the enemy magicians were able to create a humanoid monster, so it was likely they were very much capable too.

"I see," Arabella took a sip of her tea as well. She wondered why she still had a bad feeling about those magicians.

She had already informed Ferdinand that they planned to abduct her to use her as leverage over him, which was why they tried to break the barrier.

It was another reason why Ferdinand also said that she should stay in Estrella while there was still no report from Zion.

"Don’t worry. You are safe here in Estrella. And even if we do return to Riva while they are still at large, I won’t allow them to get close to you. I’ll cast more magic barriers for you while we are here in Estrella," Ferdinand assured her.

"Thank you."

When night came, they once again consummated. But this time, Ferdinand stopped much earlier than the other day since he didn’t want to tire her out too much two days in a row.

Still, it was intense, so Arabella easily fell asleep. And once again, she had a dream. But this time, she was simply an observer.

Unlike her first dream, Ferdinand did not notice her at all, so she was merely watching everything play out.

This time, Ferdinand was flying in the sky when he decided to stop by a river to get a drink.

While he was drinking, he heard human voices. To Arabella’s surprise, he transformed into human form and hid behind a tree.

’Oh, he can do this now!’ Arabella perked up.

His appearance was that of a human teen and his hair was short.

The humans also came to get some water from the river. They were taking too long that Ferdinand was getting impatient when someone appeared beside him.

It was a young lady who also seemed to be in her teens. And just like Ellie, she looked like Arabella. But with different hair and eye color.

The lady had light blue eyes and had pale-blue, long, and wavy hair. She was wearing a simple but beautiful dress that looked like the flowing water from the river. Her dress reached the ground but it never got stuck on the grasses or branches laying around.

"A river nymph," Ferdinand said in a low voice with a raised brow and the lady nodded and smiled.

"They will take a while longer. Please come this way. I can give you the cleanest and most refreshing water of this river" the nymph said.

Ferdinand glanced at the humans and made a low growl of complaint before reluctantly following the nymph.

Arabella could tell that he thought something along the lines of, "Why should I be the one who leaves?"

"I am Ara," the river nymph introduced.

’That’s way too close to my name. That’s one of my nicknames,’ Arabella blinked twice.

Ara gave Ferdinand a crystal-clear glass of water as she had promised.

Ferdinand nodded in approval and stared at the glass after emptying it. Ara gave him another glass since he seemed to like it.

Once his thirst was quenched, Ferdinand finally introduced himself and thanked Ara for the water.

Ara told him that a lot of people usually came to fetch water from this part of the river at this time of day.

"They are living in a village nearby. They did not spot you flying since you were using concealment magic to blend in with the color of nature. If they had seen you, they would have quickly returned to their village," Ara explained.

"That was exactly why I concealed myself. Humans panic the instant they see me," Ferdinand muttered as if it was a pain having to conceal himself, but he did it anyway.

Ara and Ferdinand chatted for a while and Arabella wanted to wake up as the two seemed to have hit it up. They were so absorbed in the conversation that they talked for hours.

Ferdinand heard that Ara knew how to read and write human language. He could already understand humans when they speak with one another, but he could not read or write it. Since he seemed envious, Ara offered to teach him if he wanted to learn, and he quickly agreed.

"Wow. Why do I feel like I know where this is going?" Arabella rolled her eyes. She knew this must be something in the past just like her previous dream, and the girl even resembled her so much. Yet, she was still getting a teensy bit jealous. Fine. Maybe a lot. After all, she had never tried conversing with Ferdinand for this long and had him look so interested and speak a lot. Now she had a new goal to achieve.

Ara and Ferdinand simply kept conversing for days until Ara began teaching him how to read and write human language.

Perhaps, because this was a dream or a vision, Arabella was somehow able to understand it even though she knew it was different from the language she knew.

The more days that passed, the more Arabella was sure that the river nymph was into Ferdinand. However, Ferdinand seemed to be clueless about it and was just focused on learning from her.

However, Ferdinand’s actions were misleading, and thus, Ara interpreted that he was also into her.

Arabella didn’t know if Ferdinand was doing it on purpose or if he was truly flirting with the nymph. And Arabella had to watch them flirt every single day.
