Reborn as a Mind-Reading Empress
Chapter 393: Humanoid Monster

Chapter 393: Humanoid Monster

The knights from Valeria handled the monsters much easier than the supranational knights of Medeus. They were able to kill one monster to another until none remained.

Arabella thought it was far better that Sera did not see all these monster corpses and blood since she would probably be puking by now and even more traumatized.

Meanwhile, everyone was awed by the fighting abilities of Valerian knights.

The other royals who had finally gathered outside as well were further relieved that Valeria had joined the Council. Meaning, Valeria would not easily declare war on neighboring countries anymore and these monstrously strong knights were now their allies.

The monster at the top of the roof was apparently able to break the barriers there. But Icarus killed it when it jumped down into the hall. Thus, everyone was able to leave the venue with minor to no injuries.

Thus, all the monsters had indeed been eliminated.

However, that wasn’t the end of the monsters.

There was no time to admire the knights as the bodies of the slain monsters turned to dust and more monsters appeared from them.

The monsters were much smaller this time. Only a fourth of the size of the monsters earlier but they were ten times in number. And they were nimble and quick.

It was harder to kill them compared with the huge monsters since they could move around more quickly.

The Valerian knights and supranational knights were both fighting this time.

The temple magicians joined the fray too and applied magic to slow down the monsters so the knights could kill them.

Fighters with a logo of the Great Temple arrived to help and they were even more capable than the supranational knights.

These were probably the people that the temple hired or trained to eradicate monsters.

Meanwhile...

{They headed to the underground prison of the Grand Palace. Some headed to the Great Temple’s direction as well. They must have thought Lindon was imprisoned in either of the two.} Alwin reported to Ferdinand.

{I see. Act if they try to free the prisoners to cause chaos.} Ferdinand instructed.

{Yes, Your Majesty.}

Arabella heard from Alwin and Ferdinand’s thoughts that the underground prison of the Grand Palace was where criminals with the heaviest crimes were imprisoned.

And since Lindon’s body was not in his home, when he rarely left to a distant place with it, his companions could have assumed he was imprisoned in the underground prison of the Grand Palace. Or in the Great Temple which had capable magicians of their own that could have captured Lindon.

Meaning, these monsters were merely distractions so they could find Lindon.

It was either because Lindon was important to them or because they didn’t want Lindon to tattle about who they were.

{Your Majesty, I need to go. They are trying to free the prisoners!} Alwin reported in alarm and Ferdinand nodded.

Alwin bowed and vanished.

It surprised Benjamin and the others but they had no time to explain amidst the loud noise as knights clashed against the monsters.

It took a while before all the monsters were eradicated this time.

Their corpses turned to dust again and spawned into one gigantic monster.

Arabella’s father had returned to their side so Riley was free to support Rendell and the knights.

Riley focused on supporting Rendell and Valeria’s Grand Knight Commander.

. . .

While the fight with the gigantic monster was ongoing...

[It seems it is true that Valeria’s Emperor treasures his wife. I will capture that Empress while they are busy. We could use her as leverage.]

Arabella suddenly heard a voice she did not recognize.

{Break that barrier from behind.} He commanded someone.

"Behind us!!" Arabella whispered to Ferdinand in alarm. It wasn’t really a whisper though but more of a scream of panic that was drowned out by the sound of the fight with the gigantic monster.

Ferdinand heard it though and he was quick to act.

As another monster appeared suddenly, behind them, Ferdinand blocked its attack with his sword, so the barrier was not broken.

The monster had a humanoid body. It was as tall as Ferdinand, had sturdy-looking arms and legs, and could wield a weapon. It was a mace that looked so sturdy and dangerous.

This was the first time Arabella saw a monster like this. She had only seen animal-like monsters.

Benjamin and Andrew drew their swords as well to support Ferdinand but the Valerian knights there shook their heads.

"This monster is far stronger than all the others or than that gigantic monster there. His Majesty’s sword is imbued with magic so it didn’t break but that weapon could break a sturdy sword with one hit. Please stay back," one of the knights explained why they were not trying to support Ferdinand either.

Meaning, they would only get in the way instead of helping.

Arabella gulped nervously when the monster did not back down from Ferdinand’s strength as her husband tried to push it back. It was able to stand its ground.

[Interesting. Who the hell made this abomination?]

Ferdinand attacked the monster several times, but it was able to block with the weapon. It was trained to fight.

However, Ferdinand used more strength and speed and was able to push the monster back.

Arabella gasped when his sword vanished suddenly, and his emperor ring was back on his finger.

But the instant it did, another sword appeared and the ring with Ferdinand’s insignia back in Estrella vanished from his finger.

The sword this time was much bigger and looked terrifying. Its hilt was a silver-colored dragon with emerald eyes.

This was Ferdinand’s personal sword.

He slashed at the monster and cut it into two, along with its weapon.

The monster turned to dust in a matter of seconds, evaporated into a black mist, and vanished into the air.

[Impossible! How can he kill my new creation with such ease?! And I cannot summon it back or create more monsters from it. He destroyed it completely. How?! Why?!]

{Let’s leave for now. Lindon cannot be found. His presence had vanished as well. They are toying with us.} Someone else said and Arabella heard them argue for a bit before their voices vanished.
