Evelyn’s family would not tolerate her having another lover so she could not use money from her them for such a purpose. Thus, she could only use her jewelry. And the ones from Chester at that since her family would notice if something they gave her went missing.

At least, that was what Chester hypothesized.

But Evelyn did not do any of it. She never even thought of cheating even though her husband did it almost on a daily basis.

Yet, Chester kept insisting she was cheating on him even though he was the one doing it to her.

When Evelyn got pregnant, Chester fully believed she had it with another man. And since he thought it wasn’t his, he asked Evelyn to abort it.

Evelyn refused. It was their child. Chester was her first and the only man she had slept with.

She didn’t like Chester, but she felt bad for the child. Likewise, she couldn’t really abort a child with royal blood, and a child of the king at that, even if it was Chester himself asking for an abortion.

Even if she was the Queen, she could get punished for harming the future heir.

If Chester realizes one day that it was truly his, or if other people learn about it, Evelyn was the one who would get punished if he simply feigned ignorance.

But since she refused, Chester became even more violent with her until she had no choice but to agree. Their supposed child was aborted.

But perhaps that was for the best. Her family would only make her child a puppet anyway, so it was probably better not to give birth to one.

Still, Evelyn was overwhelmed by grief and was bedridden for days.

When she felt a bit better, she asked for a vacation in one of the islands in Zygos which was said to be a place of healing. It was usually where the queens recuperate after giving birth.

Chester agreed and Evelyn was relieved to be away from him for a while.

But that was when the worst happened.

Evelyn’s life was peaceful and much freer on the island without Chester hurting her or her family pressuring her to hurry up with a child.

However, she had been on the island for months, when one of the butlers who knew Chester didn’t really care about her, tried to make a move on her.

The butler tried to seduce Evelyn into sleeping with him at first. But when she repeatedly refused, he tried to force himself onto her.

And unexpectedly, Chester came to visit her at that time and witnessed the butler lying on top of her in bed and kissing her.

Chester misunderstood things. He thought Evelyn had been living a good life with the butler since she went to the island.

He killed the butler right then and there. And Evelyn was relieved at someone’s death for the first time in her life.

But she didn’t know hers would come next.

Chester refused to believe whatever explanation Evelyn made. And out of fury, he strangled her to death.

As her dying breath was leaving her, she heard him tell someone to burn the entire mansion along with her body and make it look like a fire accident so Evelyn’s family would not stop supporting him.

’How horrible!’ Arabella realized; Renee had been through so much. And she had been carrying all these dark and painful memories by herself all this time.

Renee lived such a cruel life as Evelyn. And during such difficult times, Fatima was her only friend. She told Fatima about everything that Chester did to her. And Fatima even visited her in that mansion just a few days before Chester strangled her to death.

She thought only Fatima remained a good person to her and she was relieved that at least there was someone who grieved her death. But now, she knew that wasn’t the case.

Evelyn was reincarnated into a sickly child after she died. She grew up until she was nine years old and died again when she was about to turn ten.

This was why when she was reincarnated as Renee, she wanted to just enjoy her healthy body even though she constantly gets obsessed with beautiful things and beautiful people. And even though her blood boiled every time she recalled Chester and her family, she did not try to get revenge on them nor go to Zygos.

Being a sickly girl who only lay in bed most of the time made her appreciate the life she had as Evelyn even though she didn’t have a good marriage and her life ended with cruelty.

A month after dying as the sickly girl, she was reincarnated as Renee and enjoyed playing around and maximizing her healthy body until she grew up. This was why she didn’t mind becoming a maid in the Imperial Palace.

Renee once thought she would live this life differently this time. That she would enjoy what she has and live quietly and peacefully. But after living in the palace, she was constantly reminded of her life as Evelyn and kept getting nightmares.

And after seeing Chester and Fatima together as husband and wife in this life, Renee realized she had toyed with and treated like a fool right from the start.

After all, why would her pieces of jewelry that went missing and caused Chester to suspect her of cheating, be in Fatima’s possession now?

If it had been found, it should have been handed over to Evelyn’s family.

As Evelyn, Renee had told Fatima about those. And Fatima knew what those pieces of jewelry looked like since she was among the first people Evelyn had shown them to when she first received them.

It was either Fatima was the one who stole those, or Chester gave them to Fatima himself. It was likely the latter.

The two already had a relationship before Evelyn even died. And they got rid of her so they could officially be together.
