It was a tiring day of Assembly meetings one after the other, so Arabella decided to take a stroll in the flower gardens of the Grand Palace.

It was getting hotter and hotter by the day even though summer was already closing its end. The temperature in Medeus simply kept rising. It made Arabella miss the cool fresh air of Ferdinand’s island.

The flower gardens outside the Grand Palace were still well kept though. The Council had magic tools installed to ensure that the Grand Palace and its surroundings would remain to look fresh and cool despite the blazing summer.

Arabella fanned herself. Irene volunteered to do it for her, but Arabella politely refused since this fan was a gift from her husband. He personally made it for her.

Ferdinand didn’t want Arabella to keep using the ones Alwin provides her, so he made one out of magic while they were in Estrella.

It could turn into a bracelet so she could simply wear it around her wrist when she didn’t need it.

"Your fan is so pretty, Your Majesty! This design is exquisite. It looks elegant and cute at the same time. And the details here are so intricate. This part is... and this..." Renee had a lot of praise for it. She always had a keen eye for pretty things. Her tastes were quite even more sophisticated than Arabella’s.

"Thank you. My husband had it made for me," Arabella smiled at her maid. She couldn’t tell them the emperor made it himself.

[Kyaah! His Majesty is so sweet. Her Majesty made our scary Emperor into such a sweet and caring person.] Carla’s eyes shined. She, on the other hand, was always hyped about anything related to love. And Carla tended to exaggerate things.

’I didn’t do anything though.’

[I wish, I had a husband like His Majesty. Would His Eminence give gifts like this too when he’s in love? Would he be attentive and caring too like His Majesty?] Renee glanced at Alwin who was still disguised as one of Arabella’s knights.

Alwin used to watch from afar, but he was guarding Arabella closely with Rendell this time because of the new guests that arrived for the Assembly.

Renee and the other maids learned Alwin was disguised as a knight due to all the assassination attempts when they were still on their way to Medeus.

Despite Alwin announcing that he was engaged with Blanca, Renee was still trying to get his attention. Because Blanca was so pretty as her rival, Renee had been trying to look prettier. She was even getting tips from the other maids on how to make herself look more attractive and appealing.

And they were quite successful with it. Renee had been looking brighter and more charming as she tried to look her best to get Alwin’s attention.

However, Renee wasn’t making any progress since Alwin pretended to not have noticed anything and did his best to ignore the former.

Due to his memories of the past, Alwin despised Renee. He was disgusted every time he noticed Renee trying to look cute when he was around. And even more so when Renee kept trying to stalk him to find out more about his daily activities.

[Why is she staring at me like that again?! Didn’t I already declare Blanca as my fiancée? I even held Blanca’s hand while she was watching. We have been pretending to be lovers too and going on pretend dates when she was following us.] Alwin knitted his brows at Renee’s gaze.

’Maybe, I shouldn’t have let Renee see him,’ Arabella felt guilty. But the two would have eventually met anyway since Alwin was staying close to Arabella’s side as one of her guards.

"Greetings to Her Imperial Majesty, the Empress of Valeria."

Arabella was surprised when she heard people greeting her. She turned around and saw the King and Queen of Zygos along with some of their maids and butlers. Their knights followed them closely as well.

She was lost in thought that she did not even hear their thoughts or their footsteps.

Her maids and knights also greeted the King and Queen of Zygos while Arabella smiled at them politely.

[Chester and Fatima?! What are they doing here? Why did everyone just greet them as the King and Queen?!!]

’She knows them?!’ Arabella was wide-eyed when she heard Renee’s thoughts. And Renee had directly said their names without any title in her mind as if it was how she normally addressed them.

These were the King and Queen of Zygos. Only family members and close friends could address them directly.

[Chester married Fatima?! Why? Isn’t she my best friend? Why would she marry him when she knows exactly how cruel he had been to me?] Renee frowned at the sight of Fatima’s arm around Chester’s.

’Renee was once in a relationship with King Chester?!’ Arabella was taken aback. Who would have expected Renee was hiding a secret like this?

[That necklace was Chester’s gift to me when we got married. Those earrings were mine too. Those were the pieces of jewelry that went missing! Chester even beat me up saying I must have sold it to support another man. Why does Fatima have all of it?]

’T-they got married?!’ Arabella cannot figure out what was going on anymore. She thought Renee had never married yet. Even in her past life, Renee did not get married. But she must have been in a relationship with that Marcus guy.

How come she had actually been married to King Chester? The said king was more than twice their age. He was already in his forties. The same goes for Fatima.

[No! These bastards!] Renee turned pale as she stared at the two and realized something.

[They set me up and killed me so they could get married!]

’What?! What’s going on? I’m not sure, I’m following this,’ Arabella was confused.

[This is too early. She shouldn’t have met them yet. She seems to have realized what happened. This is going to be troublesome.] Alwin glanced at Renee.

’What?! Alwin knows about it?’ Arabella was further confused.

Did he know from their past life, or did he investigate Renee more thoroughly in this life?
