Chapter 320: Family Visit [Bonus Chapter]

With the culprits caught, Arabella could finally return to Medeus. Her parents had been worried about her and they had been asking when they could visit.

They sent letters two days ago and Arabella responded through letters as well to assure them she was alright.

But today, they requested a visit after hearing she was well enough to entertain guests. They wanted to see Arabella and verify if what Raymond told the Council last night was true.

After all, it could also be possible that they were covering up the truth with something else to prevent chaos in case Lucille was actually the mastermind of the crime.

Her family wanted to know the truth from Arabella herself.

And since Adolfo and Jacob were already imprisoned, Ferdinand finally agreed to let Arabella meet her family as safety was no longer a concern.

"Ella!" Queen Ofelia rushed to embrace Arabella the instant they were ushered into the receiving room.

Arabella smiled and hugged her mother as well. She seemed to have lost a lot of weight in the span of a few days.

"Are you still hurting anywhere? Are you sure you’re alright now?" her mother asked as she scrutinized her.

"I’m alright. Rather, Mother’s the one who doesn’t look well. Have you been eating properly?" Arabella frowned.

She learned from their thoughts that her mother was too worried to eat anything. Only when Benjamin scolded her that Arabella would be distraught if something happened to her and made her eat did their mother do so.

Arabella’s father and brother joined them. She explained that Alwin had healed her completely so they had nothing to worry about.

Her mother sighed in relief and they ushered her to sit.

[She does seem to look as healthy as usual. No, she looks even healthier for some reason.]

Arabella froze when she heard the thought of a familiar voice. She looked behind her older brother and saw him.

Icarus was there with them.

’What is he doing here?!’

[Why is he here?] Ferdinand frowned and glanced at Alwin and Rendell.

{His Highness Benjamin said King Icarus was his close friend so we had no choice but to let him in with them or we might seem rude in front of Her Majesty’s family.} Alwin explained.

{This is the first time I’m hearing this. Investigate later if their relationship is true. Icarus may have convinced her brother just to see Arabella.} Ferdinand glared at Icarus but the latter just ignored him.

[Stingy bastard. I just wanted to know if Arabella was truly alright now. I had to resort to asking Benjamin because he wouldn’t tell me anything even when I humbled myself and wrote him letters asking about her condition. I know she’s his wife now but that doesn’t mean I don’t worry about her anymore.] Icarus gave a thankful glance at Benjamin and the latter smiled.

"Oh, my apologies. I brought along my friend, King Icarus since I was with him when I received the notice we were visiting today," Benjamin lied and faked a smile.

[I hope her husband doesn’t get angry. I brought Icarus with me since he had been so haggard as well the past few days due to worry.] Benjamin glanced at Ferdinand and stayed close to Arabella so her husband wouldn’t get angry at him.

Ferdinand didn’t say anything and simply nodded.

Arabella learned from their thoughts that Icarus had apparently visited the mansion every day ever since she got poisoned. He went there to ask about her condition.

Since he was a king, the guards had no choice but to let him in. But the maids usually only served him tea and told him that Arabella and Ferdinand had both returned to Valeria.

When Arabella had recovered, Icarus somehow learned about it and visited again and even came with flowers and fruits. None of it reached Arabella.

Of course, it was because Ferdinand did not allow anything from outside to reach her in Estrella.

Even the flowers, fruits, and tea from Arabella’s family were magically checked and preserved. She was only able to have access to them the previous day. However, she never saw the ones from Icarus since Ferdinand instructed the maids to take them or throw them away.

The maids enjoyed it among themselves instead since it was a waste to throw it away. After all, it was from the second-strongest man in Eliora. And a bachelor king nonetheless. Quite attractive too.

[What is his relationship with Arabella’s brother? If he is even lying for Icarus’ sake, does this mean they are truly friends?!] Ferdinand was alarmed since he hadn’t had the chance to get close to Benjamin yet.

Ferdinand began to worry that Icarus might use Benjamin to get close to Arabella.

[Her brother clearly doesn’t think good about me. If he sides with Icarus, my place as Arabella’s husband might be in danger.]

Ferdinand thought that Icarus might be able to get close to Arabella’s parents as well and be able to convince them that he was the better man.

Since Ferdinand was able to marry Arabella through her parents’ approval, he knew it could change if her parents changed their minds. After all, royals usually decide the marriage of their children.

[Sneaky bastard. I thought we already settled this during the match. Why is he still interfering? Doesn’t he have any pride? I know my wife is lovely and charming so it would be hard to nigh impossible to get over but she’s already my wife. How dare he keep getting in between us?!]

Ferdinand kept glaring at Icarus and flinched when Arabella’s father cleared his throat to stop the tension.

[Right. I have to convince them I am the better man. But how do I do it? Icarus has a good and clean reputation, unlike me.] He stopped glaring at Icarus and bowed his head slightly towards Arabella’s parents in apology for his unseemly display. He even straightened up even though his posture was not even slouched in the slightest.

Her parents nodded in response. They knew Ferdinand almost got into a fight with Icarus last time and that he had a duel with the latter before marrying her.
