Chapter 313: It’s Easy to Blame One’s Misfortune on Others

According to Lucille’s father, judging from the Dark Emperor’s former activities, he would not stop with just Lahar. He might attack the neighboring kingdoms too and use this chance, with his fury as an excuse, to expand Valeria even further.

As members of the Council, Obrusca and other nations had to help Lahar.

After all, it was also a member of the Council. It was in the provisions that they were supposed to help a member nation from attacks from non-member nations.

If they neglect a member country in times of war, trust in the Council would wane and their influence could greatly diminish.

But how would they win or at least minimize losses against Valeria? It was akin to sending their soldiers to death.

Lucille’s father had sleepless nights because of it and he discussed it every day with his subjects and military advisors. Messenger birds from Medeus and other nations came every single day.

Thankfully, one day, they learned that Arabella was back in Lobelius. Her parents were able to find her.

Lobelius and Lahar tried to keep everything a secret but royals had spies here and there. It was normal for every royal family. Even Lucille knew about it since she was old enough to be a part of some of the discussions.

Arabella’s marriage with the Dark Emperor was set to push through.

Lucille rejoiced at the news. They didn’t need to go to war and she finally had a chance to be with Andrew.

She sent letters trying to console him but not a single reply came. And one day, a piece of terrible news came.

Andrew got married before Arabella even does. They said it was true love. That his wife was the one meant for him.

Lucille was horrified. How did he get over Arabella so quickly?

She thought Andrew was different from the fickle men Carmella easily seduced. How come he got another lady so soon? And how come it wasn’t her?!

Didn’t Andrew like her in the past?

Her chance slipped by the tips of her fingers.

Then, the rumors came.

Andrew was married off by his parents so the Dark Emperor would no longer declare war on Lahar or try to hurt him.

Lahar was trying to say that Andrew would not get in the way of the Dark Emperor and Arabella’s wedding.

Lucille cried so much that day.

If Andrew needed someone to marry, it should have been her. She was more than willing to marry him even if he was still trying to move on.

She should have been his wife. Why marry someone from Lahar when he could have married a princess instead?

Can’t the world grant even that one wish?

It felt like everything was going against Lucille. Yes, the world itself is against her. The world had betrayed her. It must have deemed she didn’t deserve any happiness.

But why does she have to be the one to feel this miserable?

Why does she have to keep getting hurt all the time?

Who’s fault is this?

Ah, it was all Arabella’s fault. If not because of her, Andrew would have been hers. If not because of her, Andrew would not have been married off.

Yes, it was all Arabella’s fault.

Lucille’s chest finally felt a bit lighter when she knew who was at fault.

Her only hope was the fact that Andrew probably did not like his wife. It meant Lucille had a chance.

Andrew would surely attend the Assembly so Lucille prepared herself. She would seduce Andrew too, and this time, she would make him hers.

Once he was in Medeus, Lucille spoke with Andrew and tried to seduce him. He came with his wife and parents a week in advance.

But no matter what she tried, Lucille did not succeed.

Andrew said he was happy with his wife now. But how could he?

He must still be hurting.

But the smile on Andrew’s face made it seem as if he already liked his new woman.

Why was it so easy for him to find and love someone else?

Lucille had been enduring for years. She loved him despite his relationship with Arabella.

But she had no choice but to back out since Andrew understood her motives and told her he loved his wife.

Lucille still had her pride as a princess. She cannot force herself onto him. But what the hell did Lucille get?

Andrew met up with Arabella first thing when she arrived. It was at the flower garden where the two of them used to go on dates.

And yet, Andrew dared cover up that he was in love with his wife?

What lies.

Everyone was a liar.

Everyone just used people for their benefit.

Yes, even her beloved Andrew.

The world is rotten. It was to use or be used.

Since everyone simply does it, why shouldn’t Lucille do it too?

She had been feeling guilty over what she had been doing behind Arabella’s back.

But not anymore. Guilt is for the weak. She should get rid of it. Moreover, everyone does it. So why should she feel bad for doing it too?

Lucille then set more plans.

She was so furious and disappointed at Andrew too so she didn’t care about him anymore either.

She simply wanted to show everyone what Andrew and Arabella’s true nature was. That they were still meeting each other secretly.

After all, how could she allow them to be happy after what they made her go through?

Her mother was getting crazier by the day and making her do all sorts of things since Arabella and Lobelius suddenly got so powerful.

Her mother was so desperately trying to marry her off to whoever had a power close to the Dark Emperor at least enough to rival Lobelius that had Valeria’s support now. She doesn’t even care what kind of people they were now since Arabella’s marriage with the scariest person in Eliora went well.

Before her mother succeeds to tie her down to someone and limit her freedom, she had to implement her plans.
