Chapter 261: I Want to Hide You Somewhere [Bonus Chapter]
After the meeting, banquet was held for everyone before they continue further discussions.
Just like Icarus, everyone thought that the mark on Ferdinand’s neck was not from Arabella. They thought it was from another woman because they thought Arabella would never do such a thing.
Her plan backfired. The princesses further concluded they may have a chance now since they thought Ferdinand was sleeping with another woman.
They thought the mark was left there to provoke Arabella and that she could not do anything about it so she let it be.
’Ugh. How am I to correct this misunderstanding? Their perception of me is still someone who’s so innocent even though I’m already married to Ferdinand for four months.’
Only Andrew and Sera glanced at each and smiled upon seeing the mark.
"See? I told you she likes her husband now. She even proudly marked him despite what everyone else would think," Andrew whispered to Sera and the latter nodded.
"Right. Even though I like you so much, I have never even dared to leave a mark like that," Sera whispered back with a blush on her face.
"Then why won’t you leave a mark on me tonight?" Andrew asked and Sera’s face turned red.
"No way. What if you flaunt it like that too? I’d die of embarrassment," Sera said and Andrew gently patted her head.
"I was just kidding," Andrew chuckled.
"You looked serious though. Fine. I’ll give you one. But on your chest, not the neck, so it won’t be visible to others," Sera conceded and Andrew beamed. He gave his wife a kiss on the back of her hand.
Arabella smiled. Andrew and Sera were getting along well indeed. She glanced at her husband and he rubbed her hand.
’Did he get jealous because I was looking in Andrew’s direction?’
[Humph. How dare that brat show off to me. I won’t lose to him. Once Arabella and I go all the way, she will carry my child too. I will have a child with her and our child would be more adorable than that brat’s.] Ferdinand thought.
’Oh, it’s a different kind of competitiveness.’
. . .
After a program that spanned the whole day, there was a ball in the evening for everyone to socialize in a more relaxing manner.
Arabella and Ferdinand had to attend since that was another way they could form connections.
"I want to hide you somewhere only I know for all eternity," Ferdinand suddenly said when Arabella got out of her room after changing into her ball dress.
"Where’s that coming from all of a sudden?" Arabella frowned. Did someone say something to her husband?
[She’s still too pretty even with a frown on her face.] Ferdinand sighed deeply.
"You look way too beautiful in this dress. I don’t want them to see you like this. You should wear my coat so they can’t see clearly," Ferdinand wrapped her in his coat and even closed all the buttons.
Arabella chuckled and kissed Ferdinand on the cheek.
"I can’t do that. My maids worked so hard to make me look this pretty. I have to show everyone the fruit of their efforts, shouldn’t I?" Arabella said and her husband pursed his lips.
"Tsk. You’re already beautiful just as you are. Why do you have to look even more gorgeous? If you go out like this, I might have to kill all the men who gawk at you," Ferdinand muttered though he undid the buttons of his coat and helped her remove it.
She ended up helping him wear his coat properly again.
Her maids also rechecked that her hair and dress were alright. They were so proud of the result of their hard work after all.
"You also look even more manly today. I’m the one who’s worried. What if the princesses fall for you? I would get lots of rivals," Arabella said and Ferdinand was delighted with her praise.
"I only ever have eyes for you," Ferdinand kissed her forehead before offering his arm to escort her. He was getting better and better with his words.
"Do you remember? I will dance with you first, then with my father. While I’m dancing with my father, you dance with my mother. After that, I’ll dance with my elder brother," Arabella reminded him of their plan.
She had already spoken with Ferdinand that she would have to dance with the kings of other territories and he would dance with the queens if they ask for a dance.
Ferdinand didn’t like it but he reluctantly agreed since Arabella and Raymond had already explained and reiterated it before they even left Riva.
Thankfully, the ball went well.
Ferdinand was surprisingly a good dancer. No wonder Raymond was not worried about it.
Arabella reminded herself that her husband had lived a long life. He must have at least danced a lot in the past and probably just got tired of socializing due to how long he had lived.
After Arabella danced with her father and older brother, no one dared to ask her for a dance because of fear that they might insult or anger Ferdinand.
Her husband still hadn’t spoken about his stance on the imminent war so no one dared to annoy him.
To everyone’s shock, the first person to ever dare ask Arabella for a dance was none other than Andrew. He was indeed a daredevil and he even brought his wife with him.
Everyone thought Ferdinand would get furious but he didn’t. He still glared at Andrew but his face and aura didn’t darken as it usually does.
’Oh, it seems letting him hear my conversation with Andrew was more effective than I thought. He’s not even angry that Andrew’s asking me for a dance.’
Sera meanwhile, looked nervous.
"Shall we?" Arabella asked her husband and everyone was surprised when he nodded.
"Please take good care of my wife, she’s currently in a delicate state," Andrew said to Ferdinand with a polite smile.
"I know. You’re the one who should take good care of my wife. If she gets uncomfortable in the least bit, I’ll cut you down," Ferdinand warned with a glare.
