Chapter 240: I Wish You Fall in Love Too

From Alwin’s thoughts, dragons’ senses were apparently so much stronger than humans, especially about anything related to their mate.

Thus, Ferdinand would be able to sense Arabella’s presence even from far away and even smell her scent. He would also feel it if she was in grave danger.

And they were apparently very particular about their mate’s scent. Now she understood why Ferdinand kept saying he loved her scent.

It was also why Raymond thought last time that even Alwin could get burned if he dared to have touched Arabella’s hand without Ferdinand’s permission since dragons were especially more possessive of their mates.

Especially these days since there was apparently difficulty in finding their mates. It was because there were almost no females left among the dragon race. This difficulty was what necessitated the oracles. The gods themselves intervened.

’So, it was why they come to Valeria and find human mates instead?’

Arabella decided to ask Ferdinand about it later.

’Wait, if Andrew’s scent would linger on me even if I just link my arm around his and walk together for a bit, doesn’t this mean it would be worse on people I held hands with and the like?’

No wonder Ferdinand didn’t want them to be together at all. And her husband did keep sniffing at her hair and neck earlier.

There would be a banquet and a ball at the start of the Assembly to welcome everyone and get to know each other.

Arabella would have to dance with other men then. It would be rude to decline everyone since they were supposed to get to know the other attendees.

Does it mean Ferdinand would have to smell several men’s scents on her? It was simply terrible.

’I’m so sorry,’ she embraced Ferdinand and internally apologized in advance since she knew she still needed to dance with other men. She would limit it to Kings of other nations only to at least greatly lessen the number.

[Ah, she must have promised him something like this. She is good at seducing people even in this life. Is it her talent? His Majesty, would, of course, be easily swayed. He had longed for her for so long. I had read it before in books and I still don’t really understand how it works. Raymond did explain they simply couldn’t help it. If this is what it’s like, I would rather never get married. I don’t want my decisions to be this clouded just because of someone.] Alwin thought.

Arabella thought he already left. Alwin’s decisions were already clouded and biased too though. He was doing everything he thought would be good for Ferdinand.

’This guy! I’m just trying to end everything. I wish you would fall in love with someone too and wish to get married so badly. Humph.’

For Alwin who didn’t want to get married, this wish was like a curse.

Arabella didn’t know this wish would come back to bite her someday. If only she knew whom Alwin would one day wish to marry, she wouldn’t have said this even if just in her mind. But that wouldn’t be until after a long long time had passed.

Alwin secretly passed the letter to Andrew and the latter surprisingly agreed instantly.

Now Arabella was wondering if Andrew was fearless or simply reckless. Alwin said he did not seem to even think about it too deeply and just agreed.

The table in the gazebo in the garden was then prepared for their talk. Once it was ready, Alwin teleported Andrew there so no one would see him enter or exit the accommodation Arabella and Ferdinand were staying at. It might cause all sorts of rumors.

"I’m relieved your husband changed his mind quickly. I was worried about how you were faring," Andrew glanced at her wrist and noticed the handprint was gone.

[I see. He had his magician heal it. I hope he doesn’t hurt Arabella and make his magician heal it so no one else would know.]

"He is not usually like that. He was just alarmed to see me with you in the garden. It was the first time he held my wrist that tightly. He was usually gentle," Arabella corrected so Andrew wouldn’t misunderstand.

"I see. I hope that’s truly the case. How are you faring in Valeria? Have you adapted to their culture? Are you eating well? I heard you lost so much weight that you were so thin during the wedding," Andrew said and Ferdinand glared at Alwin.

The two were hiding on the third floor but Alwin used magic so they could hear what Arabella and Andrew were talking about.

{You better find the spies they planted in Valeria.} Ferdinand instructed his mage.

"I did. I lost weight because I wasn’t used to their food at first. But my husband allowed me to bring one of my maids from Lobelius. She taught the chefs how to make the foods I like so it’s all good now. I am also used to Valerian cuisine and I am gradually adapting to their culture."

[It seems true. Her smiles are genuine.]

"I see. This may be presumptuous but before we were lovers, we were friends. Please consider this as me worried about a friend. Is your husband cruel to you? His reputation is quite ominous but I didn’t want to judge since I had never met him before. But after the incident earlier, I was alarmed by his behavior earlier. He was disregarding your choices. Does he always do that? It’s quite concerning."

[What do you mean cruel to her? Earlier was a mistake. His Majesty is under her spell! He would do whatever she told him. Just how do you think you were able to speak with him? I am the one who’s worried. What if I become the errand boy instead of that kid (Dimo) as they meet together like this more often and His Majesty would just allow it? Ah! I’m going to go crazy!] Alwin was fuming upstairs.

"Thank you for worrying about me. My husband is not cruel to me. He is sweet and gentle. He tries to please me and give me what I want. He simply got nervous earlier because you were my former lover. It hadn’t been long since we broke up so he was concerned."

Ferdinand was touched that Arabella kept defending him. Meanwhile, Alwin thought it was probably because she knew they were listening in.
