Chapter 238: I Don’t Want Other People Talking Bad About You

"I’m sorry," was all Ferdinand could reply to Arabella yet again.

"Since you are sorry, I forgive you. As long as you won’t do this again, I won’t be angry," Arabella said and her husband hugged her tight. He apologized yet again. She embraced him too and patted his back.

This huge and strong person could be this shaken. It was making Arabella guilty as if it was her fault.

She simply wanted to end her past with Andrew with clarity though. She was tying the loose ends of her past but she ended up alarming her husband.

"Let’s go back first and talk with privacy, okay?" she could feel the eyes of people on them.

Ferdinand flinched when he realized it. He had the urge to carry her off but recalled what she told him last time.

Arabella held his hand instead and they walked hand in hand. Her hubby seemed to like it.

The people watching them probably thought they had a fight but resolved it right away.

Once they were back in their accommodation, Arabella instantly told Ferdinand that they needed to talk so she led him to her room.

"Do you know what I had been up to before I went to the garden?" Arabella asked and her husband wondered why she was asking.

"You were in the tea party with the Queens of other nations."

"Can you guess what I had been doing while I was there?" Arabella inquired and her husband shook his head.

"I was speaking about you for several hours. Everyone was curious about the Dark Emperor of Valeria. They wondered if you were indeed a violent person and if you were violent even to your own wife. I spent hours telling them about our dates and how you have treated me so far. I told to them that you were very kind and loving to me."

[She was doing something like that for me?!]

"But what do you think they would think now if they saw you gripping my hand like that just because I was speaking with Andrew?"

Ferdinand turned silent at her words.

"I didn’t want everyone to think you were violent and abusive to your wife because you are not. You listened to me and let me do what I wanted. But if you act like that in front of other people, they would think you simply threatened me to talk good about you. I don’t want that to happen since you have been so good to me."

Ferdinand brightened slightly when she said those.

"You are my husband so I don’t want other people talking bad about you. So please don’t do that again. I understand you get jealous. But we can always talk in private once other people are not watching. Instead of grabbing my hand like that, you could have called out my name and told me properly you wanted to speak with me first. Moreover, shutting down my words like that is akin to shaming me in front of everyone who was present. It’s honestly disappointing. Especially since you even did it in front of other people. What if there were more people there that could have heard it? Or did you want to show Andrew you are the one in control of this relationship?"

"No! Not at all. I never meant to do that. I’m so sorry," Ferdinand was wide-eyed.

"I know. But please control your emotions. I know it must be hard but instead of shutting my words like that you could have told me you wanted to speak about it first so we can decide together. Can you do that next time?"

"Yes. I will do my best," Ferdinand thankfully easily agreed.

"Moreover, I was in the garden alone at first. I went there because I wanted to relax after an exhausting tea party. You can ask Rendell. He was the only one with me there at first. But then, we suddenly encountered Andrew there. But we never agreed to meet up in advance at all. He just wanted to talk to me and clarify things about the past so I agreed since I thought it would be best to end things clearly."

Arabella cupped Ferdinand’s face and said everything while looking at him so he would understand the encounter with Andrew was not something she planned.

"Now that I thought about it, I should have scheduled the talk for later so that I could have informed you about it first. I’m sorry I didn’t inform you first before agreeing," Arabella also apologized since she was probably at fault too for not informing Ferdinand first before agreeing to speak with Andrew.

She already knew her husband always compared himself with Andrew so she should have been more careful and considerate of his feelings. Anything about Andrew needed to be informed to Ferdinand in advance so he would not misunderstand it.

"No, it’s my fault for always overthinking and concluding things. I shouldn’t have gone to conclusions."

[I should have indeed controlled my emotions, not be controlled by them. Why is this happening to me?]

Ferdinand sulked for being so emotional now when he used to be in control of all of his emotions and didn’t show a single one on his face that he did not intend to show, nor say words that he did not mean to say.

"But... Must you really speak with him all alone?" Ferdinand searched her eyes and looked away when understood what she would say before she even talked.

"Yes. I think he wouldn’t be able to speak his mind if you would be there with me glaring at him. Rendell would be with me. I won’t be alone. Why don’t you want me to speak with him?" Arabella asked though she already knew why so Ferdinand would express what was in his mind and not bottle it up inside.

"I... I’m sorry. It’s just, when I saw you with him, my mind blanked out. I summoned Alwin to teleport me and before I knew it I was already there. And when I saw you extending your hand towards him, it felt like you were leaving me and going to his side. So, I rashly stopped you and grabbed your hand," Ferdinand’s eyes cast down in embarrassment at what he had done. He gripped his coat.
