Chapter 231: Overflowing Emotions
Arabella could no longer stop herself and her tears flowed freely. She ended up sobbing so much to the point she was trembling.
Her parents were both trying to protect her from something. She had indeed misunderstood them.
’Mother, Father, I’m so sorry. I misunderstood all of you for so long and didn’t even try to reach out. I’ve been through all sorts of things. This daughter had committed all sorts of crimes. Will you still accept this despicable daughter as yours?’
She thought she hated her parents in her past life. But had she been just craving to be loved and embraced like this by them again?
But they never communicated with her as well.
’Why? Why didn’t you send me any letters asking me if I was alright? I was waiting. I was waiting this whole time,’ she sobbed even more as she recalled her past life.
Arabella wanted to say so much but she couldn’t so she ended up crying even more instead. For the first time in so long, she felt like a lost child that wanted to be comforted and held as she sobbed her heart out.
Her parents and elder brother tried to comfort her to no avail. Her tears kept flowing non-stop as she let out two decades of loneliness, frustration, and all sorts of emotions. She couldn’t stop herself as everything just flowed out. She didn’t even know she could cry this much.
Her family ended up gawking at Ferdinand in horror wondering what kinds of evil he had done to Arabella for her to be crying to them this much.
They had never seen her cry this much before either. Not even after they made her break up with Andrew or when she learned he had married someone else. This was so much worse.
[Did he mistreat my daughter?!]
[Had he been violent to her?!]
[This bastard! Was he cruel to my sister?!]
Her mother and father and Benjamin were all horrified and they wondered if they should take Arabella back.
Arabella was glad to hear from their thoughts that they would think of taking her back to Lobelius if Ferdinand was not treating her well. She’s happy with Ferdinand now but just the thought counts that they were willing to take the risks of taking her back.
[She missed them this much?! Did she loathe every single day she had to spend in Valeria without her family and had been keeping it all to herself this whole time?] Ferdinand was taken aback to witness Arabella cry this much as well. It was even worse than when she first reunited with Aletha.
Benjamin could not take listening to Arabella sobbing that much anymore and confronted Ferdinand.
"What have you done to my sister?!
"If you realized you didn’t actually want her, you could have just returned her to Lobelius. I believe you were the one who was adamant about marrying her.
"I know you are powerful, I know I owe you my life. But we never begged you to marry my sister. You could have just told us to take her back!
"What have you done to her?!" Benjamin grabbed Ferdinand by the collar even though the latter was taller than he was.
Ferdinand was at a loss for words and couldn’t say anything. He didn’t put up a fight either.
[What have I done to her? I didn’t do anything. Ah... Right. I didn’t even notice she was suffering this much. She smiled so brightly from time to time. But who would have thought she was hiding this much pain and sorrow inside her? Her small body is trembling with so much emotion. Why didn’t I notice anything?! What have I been doing?!] Ferdinand blamed himself.
"No, Brother, it’s not his fault. My husband didn’t do anything," Arabella tried to dry her tears and calm down but more still poured.
"Ella, you don’t have to cover up for him. Did he threaten you?" her brother scowled even more.
"No. It’s not like that. I just missed everyone so much," she tried to smile but everyone further got agitated as they thought she was trying to put up a bold front.
Arabella realized she had to stop crying or everything would get worse.
’Geez. How could I cry this much?! I’m not even a child anymore,’ she internally scolded herself.
But she did feel something so heavy finally lifted off of her chest after confirming that her family did care about her and that what happened in her past life was a misunderstanding.
She closed her eyes and took a deep breath. She felt so good and light after crying her heart out. Her eyes hurt though. They were probably red and swollen now.
Her mother and father dried her tears with their hands and it made her smile as she recalled her childhood. She missed being just their child and acting all spoiled yet still getting pampered by them.
But she had been a mother now too. She was no longer their little Ella.
’Yes, if I have a child again in this life, I will let you meet your grandchild,’ Arabella thought and beamed at them despite her tears.
Benjamin finally let go of Ferdinand and went to help dry her tears instead.
"I’m sorry, I worried everyone. I just let out all my frustrations and lingering regrets. But I’m fine now," Arabella clarified.
"Frustrations and lingering regrets?" Her family glanced at each other and gulped. They surmised it was because of them.
Arabella gasped when she realized they were still outside though already within the perimeters of the building. There were walls surrounding their accommodations other royals didn’t see it, right?
"Ferdinand, did Alwin use a barrier? Others from the palace or neighboring areas didn’t see that right?" she asked her still-shaken husband in a whisper.
"Y-yes, there’s a barrier," Ferdinand replied after a few seconds.
Arabella looked around and felt so embarrassed after looking around and realized that the Grand Commander was there, Alwin and Riley as well. They must have been alarmed when they heard her sobbing and got out.
’I just went scolding Ferdinand this morning and telling him to be careful of his words and actions and yet, here I was making a scene,’ Arabella regretted bawling like a child.
