Chapter 210: I’m Fine With It [Bonus Chapter]

"A long long time ago, the last dragon alive fell in love with a princess. He transformed into how humans look so he could approach the princess without scaring her," Arabella narrated for Dimo and paid attention to her husband’s thoughts and reactions.

Alwin glanced from Ferdinand to Arabella.

Ferdinand straightened up since it was closely related to their situation.

"The princess fell in love with him too but cannot marry him because he had no rank or title. Thus, he became a king in order to marry her. But the princess and everyone else discovered he was the last dragon alive."

Ferdinand gulped and turned tense as he awaited what Arabella would say next.

"Dragons were feared since they were too strong and dangerous to humans. So the princess’ parents were against the marriage. The princess hesitated too since the dragon might hurt her and her family someday."

[I won’t. I never would.] Ferdinand internally promised.

"Eh?! That’s so sad. What happened next?" Dimo asked.

"The last dragon proved his love for the princess and showed that dragons can be loving and gentle too."

[Yes. That’s true. I may not be gentle but I will do my best to take care of you. I will love you for the rest of my life and even after my death.]

"The princess realized that she loved the dragon no matter what he was and together, they convinced her parents. And soon, they were finally allowed to get married. They lived happily ever after and had many children."

[Will she love me too? Will she love me enough to accept who I am? Will she not change her mind after she learns I am not human?] Ferdinand gripped his chest seeming to feel discomfort and pain.

’I already know what you are and I’m fine with it,’ Arabella wanted to say. She wished she could tell him this very soon.

Hopefully, this would help her husband to decide and open up to her.

"Wow! So humans and dragons can be married too?" Dimo said in wonder.

"Yes. That’s what the legends say," Arabella said and her husband made a pained expression.

[It’s not just a legend. I want to have children with you too.]

"How many children did they have?" Dimo eagerly asked.

"Hmm, I forgot. But their children were said to have married humans too and their descendants live until these days."

"Wow! I want to see one!" Dimo was amazed by dragons, elves, and all sorts of creatures because just like him, they were called monsters by the people around him.

"You had been looking at one. My husband is a dragon," Arabella said, and both Ferdinand and Alwin flinched and gawked at her.

[She knows?!!] They both thought in panic and confusion.

"What?! Where?!" Dimo looked around and Arabella gestured at Ferdinand.

"He’s just human," Dimo pouted in disappointment.

"He is. But he is a descendant of the last dragon. He is called the Mighty Dragon of Eliora and he’s very strong too," Arabella explained to Dimo.

[I see. That was what she meant.] The two men across them sighed in relief.

[Does this mean, she’s fine with it even if I do have dragon blood?] Ferdinand wondered.

’Yes.’

"Sir, I mean, Your Majesty, can you fly?" Dimo asked with shining eyes.

"No. Not here. But maybe I can someday, somewhere else," Ferdinand replied and Dimo was disappointed.

Dimo thought Arabella was just kidding him and everyone was playing along.

With Dimo relaxed, Arabella finally told him they were the Empress and Emperor of Valeria.

Dimo was so shocked and began bowing and apologizing again but Arabella assured him everything was fine.

"You don’t have to be scared. My husband and his mage are very kind and accommodating people," Arabella said with a smile and Dimo eyed the two doubtfully. He still trusted Arabella’s words though.

Meanwhile, the two men were surprised she thought about them that way. Alwin concluded she was just saying it for the child’s sake.

Arabella then convinced Dimo to tell them about his situation since they were in a position where they could help him.

Since Arabella once spoke with Duke Olivier, Dimo asked her for help to meet his father. He even showed his medallion as his father had instructed him. And he told them what happened because he fully believed they would help him once he showed his necklace.

When Dimo was eight years old, due to being in a fight with one of his playmates, he accidentally released fire. His playmate was injured with burns and the shed they were in was set on fire and burned to ashes.

Since then, everyone in their neighborhood talked about Dimo in hushed tones. They thought he was an abomination, an evil child, and even called him a monster. His playmates and even the people in their dukedom avoided him.

Dimo was scared of himself as well and also believed what other people said about him. He thought he was a dangerous monster so he avoided going out and mingling with others except for his father.

Dimo then stayed home most of the time and focused on his studies instead.

But one time, he had a fight with his step-sister Monica and accidentally caused a fire again. Since then, his stepmother Sonia did not pretend to be nice to him and ignored him as if he did not exist.

Several days ago, Duke Olivier had gone to Medeus and would not be back until the Assembly was over.

It was because the Duke was assigned as one of the guards and advisers of one of the princesses’ of Loranne Kingdom who was set to choose a marriage partner during the assembly.

And during this time, Dimo accidentally discovered a secret when he woke up due to a nightmare.

Because he could not sleep after the nightmare about his father, Dimo went to the head butler’s room in the middle of the night. He wanted to ask for updates about his father. Yet, he witnessed something instead.

Dimo saw the head butler and his stepmother kissing and touching each other’s bodies while naked. He was still young but he knew it was something that his stepmother should have only done with his father.
