Chapter 191: Preparations for Departure

In the following days, Arabella got so much busier than she thought. There was a lot of work to do since the visit to Medeus was drawing near.

Just as she used to do for Lobelius, Arabella would also showcase Valeria’s signature products and produce.

However, Valeria was picky with its trade partners.

Thus, what she would be doing was not looking for trade partners but simply showing off what Valeria can offer.

Talks for trade with Lobelius were of course, already planned by the Ministry of Trade to show that the Empire takes care of the territories they favor.

Since Lobelius was Arabella’s homeland, it would have special treatment. A lot of gifts for Arabella’s family were also prepared.

But of course, they would also be giving gifts to their fellow royals. It was one of the practices in the Assemblies in Medeus. Every nation was obliged to give gifts of any form to other attendees of the Assembly.

Ferdinand’s Ministers, of course, didn’t want to lose to any nation out there so they had several sessions discussing what gifts should be given.

As the one who usually attended the Assembly in Ferdinand’s place, Raymond was the one with the most recommendations.

All the gifts were already prepared and set to be packed.

Arabella had to recheck that all the gifts were complete before it was packed, stored securely, and ready to be teleported with them once they head to Medeus.

This was the first time Ferdinand would join the Assembly himself so the gifts had to be so much grander than when it was Raymond attending the said gathering.

The Ministers were also keen on showing off that the Empire was as rich as it boasts so they were ensuring all the gifts were of the best quality and packaged well so they would reach Medeus in good condition.

Likewise, the Ministers’ wives rechecked the dresses, shoes, and accessories Arabella would wear to the Assembly.

Arabella would attend the Assembly fully clad in Valerian clothes and accessories to show that she was getting along well with her husband and that she had accepted Valeria and vice versa.

They were delighted by her decision months ago and they were the ones who recommended the best shops and tailors for Arabella.

They were eager to show off that she was well-taken care of in their Empire.

Or more specifically, they want to tell Andrew and her other former suitors to back off since, of course, to the Ministers and everyone else in Valeria who take pride in their Emperor, no one deserved Arabella better than Ferdinand.

This was why they were especially delighted when Arabella said she would attend the Assembly wearing Valerian attire since she’s the Empress of Valeria now.

Through this, Arabella also wanted to tell everyone who knew she was once in love with Andrew that the relationship between them was indeed over, and she had fully moved on.

Since the rumors she eloped with Andrew once, even reached Valeria, it meant it was already widespread to other rulers in Eliora. She would be the gossip of the ladies once they head there so she prepared in advance.

Arabella’s assistants also began working so they were with her in her office on weekdays.

Their performance was even better than she expected so a lot of work was getting done.

They got along well too, though, of course, they were still trying to get to know each other so they had reservations.

Ivan was doing his best not to bother anyone since he didn’t want to get into a fight again and get fired when he finally had what he considered the biggest opportunity in his life.

Odette was polite and respectful to everyone though she still, of course, carried herself with dignity and grace.

Nadia was nervous since she wasn’t even sure she was also royalty but she was considered to be one since she was the first daughter of the late Head Chief of Safiro and the sister of the current Chief.

Narcissa was confident with herself since she was Clarisse’s niece and they were close with Prime Minister’s family. Even in the case that she failed as Arabella’s assistant, she had a lot where she could go. But of course, she didn’t want to be labeled a failure by her family so she was doing her best.

Likewise, all of Arabella’s assistants from the most prestigious households were also doing their best. They were highly competitive so they didn’t want to lose to anyone, especially to Ivan who was a commoner.

Ivan worked the quickest so everyone was trying to beat him. When Ivan realized it, he toned down a bit and let the nobles do more work done he does. He still made sure he always did all his work for the day and even usually did more than his supposed quota though, to ensure Arabella was not dissatisfied with him.

Denzel and Narcissa were too busy competing with each other to notice it.

Ronald, Oscar, and Egbert noticed that Ivan was holding back though and they were displeased with it. They didn’t like winning because the other side intentionally lost.

Norbert and Felix noticed as well but they minded their own business. They surmised Ivan must have a reason for it.

Arabella let it be in the meantime since Ivan worked way too quickly that if he continued at that pace, he would be underpaid. He was doing way too much work than he was paid for in a day so it was fine that he slowed down a bit.

She would make him work more once she was able to raise his salary. In the interim, she cannot do it yet since they have just begun working.

With her capable assistants doing well, she was assured they would be fine even once she heads to Medeus.

The Assembly would be a month-long so Arabella would be gone for a while

The travel to Medeus usually takes a lot of time so everyone maximizes the Assembly to make it worth attending. It was where important trade partnerships were usually made. Even alliances were created there as the royals mingle for a month.
