Chapter 134: Diversion [Bonus Chapter]

[They are so calm about this. His Majesty must truly be as strong as the rumors say since Her Majesty believes in him so much and wasn’t scared of the monsters in the least bit.] Nadia thought.

Even Nadia was highly on alert and ready to fight the monsters as well even when she herself was no longer sure of her fighting abilities.

Nadia didn’t need to fight though with Ferdinand’s knights present.

Despite the people panicking, the knights were calm as they were earlier. After all, they had surrounded the residential area expecting this might happen.

They prepared to fight the monsters who were running toward the residential area. With their numbers, the monsters stirred up dust as they ran along the dry sandy earth.

"Alwin," Ferdinand commanded and Alwin made a huge barrier that surrounded the entire residential area.

Not even dust was able to permeate the barrier Alwin made.

Ferdinand as Sir Elmir explained to Arabella before that the first monsters were created by the God of Mischief because he was bored.

The God of Mischief created them to make living livelier since believed that troubles here and there would make the world more fun.

Monsters had no sense of self, feelings, or a mind or their own. They were all controlled by the God of Mischief to do his bidding.

However, the God of Mischief got busy with something else and was not able to control all of his own creations. They ended up getting free of his control and wreaked havoc. They also multiplied quickly and almost killed all beings they could kill.

It created a huge war with the purpose of eradicating monsters, especially those who multiply too quickly or else they would fill the world.

Ferdinand said every nation helped each other at that time in order to rid themselves of monsters. And they succeeded.

Or so they thought. There were monsters who were able to survive, hide, and multiply which was why they were still currently facing problems with monsters.

However, this time, only a few of the monsters were able to multiply so quickly so they usually live in secluded places such as forests and abandoned locations.

The Imperial Knights got out of the barrier with the Knight Commander leading them.

Bernardo asked permission to join the fight as well and Ferdinand permitted. He didn’t allow Dante and the others though since their bodies were still in the process of recuperating.

The fight with the monsters thus began. And as Arabella expected, the knights were so strong. They eliminated monster from monster without the least bit of fear or hesitation.

Bernardo, Miguel, Manuel, and their comrades also did very well.

"I feel so light!" Miguel beamed to Manuel.

"Me too. I almost forgot it was so much easier to move with both hands," Manuel grinned as well.

"Concentrate on the fight," Bernardo scolded but it was clear that he was also very much pleased to be able to see with both eyes again.

"I knew they were capable," Ferdinand praised and Arabella blinked twice when Nadia felt envious.

Nadia wanted to be able to show her skills in fighting too but she was Arabella’s assistant now, not a knight or a mercenary.

Soon, the monsters were wiped out and their bodies crumbled to dust and vanished.

[I knew it. The magician summoned these monsters.]

Arabella was horrified when she learned from Alwin’s thoughts that he intentionally allowed the magician to escape to know what his goals were or check if he would report to a master. Alwin expected that the magician would try to retaliate by eliminating the Safirans.

Once all the monsters were vanquished another group appeared. They were twice the size of the previous batch.

The knights eliminated them all once again, and another batch appeared. This time they were the size of the monsters that almost killed Arabella before.

[Oh, this is a diversion.] Alwin thought and Arabella almost turned to him and ask what he meant. Thankfully, she was able to stop herself before she made the mistake.

{Your Majesty, the magician headed to the mines. As expected, his interest lies in what was causing the magic ores in Mt. Esme.}

{You may head there but do not show yourself yet until necessary.}

{Yes, Your Majesty.}

Alwin left his post beside Ferdinand and Riley appeared in his place.

The monsters were eliminated and yet monsters of a bigger size appeared again. They were lesser in number but they were huge. About twice the size of adult humans.

This time, the knights had some difficulties since the monsters were far stronger compared to the previous batches.

Some of the knights had injuries and retreated into the barrier. They were healed by the magicians and got back outside again.

None of the Safiro siblings got injured so Ferdinand had high praises for them once again for being able to fight on par with his knights despite having what he thought of as ’fragile weapons.’

The weapons and equipment for Bernardo and his fellow Safirans were just recently ordered so they used their usual.

The monsters were successfully eliminated once again and Arabella had to wonder what would be the size of the next monsters that would appear.

Since Alwin said these were diversions, it meant monsters would keep coming until Alwin catches the magician.

This time, even Arabella gasped when the ground shook much stronger, and monsters twice the size of the last ones they fought appeared.

They were so huge that even Arabella was scared now.

’Would the knights truly be able to eliminate these monsters?!’

There were just about twenty of them but they were so huge and horrifying.

When Bernardo and his men tried to fight one, their swords shattered and some of them got injured.

Ferdinand then gave them the sign to go back inside the barriers since their weapons were gone ad their protective gears weren’t sturdy enough with the kind of monsters they were dealing with now.

This time Ferdinand’s knights had teamed up just to kill one of the monsters. Some monsters were able to get close to the barrier and tried to break it.
