Reborn as a Happy Wife in a Rural Family -
Chapter 209: Transcending Heaven Sword
Chapter 209: Chapter 209: Transcending Heaven Sword
The corpse, dressed in a four-claw python robe and a purple-gold crown, lay in the coffin as if asleep, showing no signs of decay. His face was as white as snow, likely preserved by the strange fragrance.
"Wuyou, don’t you think this man looks a bit like our Young Master?" Wuqing asked Wuyou after a moment.
Wuyou’s attention was on the fragrance; she had never encountered one that could prevent a corpse from decaying. Upon hearing Wuqing’s question, she took a closer look at the body. Besides looking older than the Young Master, he did indeed bear a strong resemblance. Those sword-like eyebrows and that full forehead were particularly similar.
She nodded. "He does look very much like him. Go call the Young Master to come and see."
Wuxin, acting as the messenger, immediately went to call Xiao Yunjing. When Xiao Yunjing heard the summons, he asked Gu Qingli to sit by herself for a moment while he went to see.
Gu Qingli nodded.
Xiao Yunjing arrived before the purple crystal coffin and gazed intently at the corpse within. It did bear some resemblance to him. This confirmed his suspicion: the Daqian Imperial Family was indeed connected to the owner of the palace. It seemed this was almost certainly the case. The men of the Daqian Imperial Family almost all had similar eyebrows, eyes, and foreheads.
Xiao Yunjing’s gaze fell upon the corpse’s clasped hands. On the corpse’s thumb was a large white jade thumb ring, and beneath the ring was a thin sheet of gold foil. He gently extracted the gold foil. It was palm-sized and had writing on both sides.
It was a simple epitaph. The man was named Chu Canghai, and he had been Prince Rui of the Beixia Ancient Kingdom. This place was his treasure vault and also his mausoleum. The gold foil only recorded his date of birth, but not the date of his death.
Xiao Yunjing looked at Chu Canghai’s face. He appeared to have been less than fifty years old when he died, an age at which it was unlikely he had died of natural causes.
Xiao Yunjing placed the gold foil back. His eyes then noticed something under the corpse’s shoulder. He reached over, and his hand touched a sword. He took it out to examine it.
"The Transcending Heaven Sword!" Yun No. 20 had already approached, and he exclaimed, pointing to the three characters on the sword’s hilt.
"Let me see!" Wuqing and the other three women also squeezed forward to look when they heard.
"Ah, it really is the ancient divine sword, the Transcending Heaven Sword!" Wushuang gasped, covering her mouth.
Xiao Yunjing gazed at the sword, his eyes burning with an indescribable excitement. With a strong pull, he drew the sword from its sheath.
CLANG!
With a clear ring, a sword shimmering with a cold light was presented before everyone.
They were all experts, so naturally, they were overjoyed by such an unparalleled divine weapon. Xiao Yunjing was even more delighted. He had long been without a weapon that suited him, and now the Transcending Heaven Sword, ranked fifth among the ten great ancient divine weapons, had appeared here. This was truly a gift from heaven!
"Congratulations, Young Master, on obtaining this divine sword!" Wuyou quickly and playfully congratulated him.
"Congratulations, My Lord! Congratulations, My Lord! Hehe..." Yun No. 20 also congratulated him, rubbing his head.
Wuqing and the others also quickly offered their congratulations to Xiao Yunjing.
Xiao Yunjing pursed his lips, looked at Chu Canghai in the coffin, and bowed deeply to him three times.
"Replace the coffin lid." After finishing his bows, Xiao Yunjing immediately ordered. This man could be considered his ancestor. They had already disturbed him; they couldn’t continue to leave him exposed like this. When we leave later, I should still move him out.
Yun No. 20 and Yun No. 18 immediately replaced the lid.
Xiao Yunjing returned to the other room, fetched a basin, filled it with Spiritual spring water, and placed the Transcending Heaven Sword in it to soak. Only then did he take a bath and return to their room.
"What happened?" Gu Qingli asked, putting down the book in her hand.
"I found a sword." Xiao Yunjing then told her about the identity of the man in the crystal coffin.
"Oh, so the Daqian really do have a connection with the Beixia Ancient Kingdom. They could be considered descendants of Beixia," Gu Qingli remarked.
"Mm, it should be so," Xiao Yunjing affirmed.
"Should we go out now?" Gu Qingli asked, looking at Xiao Yunjing.
"It’s time to go out. How are you feeling, Li’er?"
"I’m fine," she replied.
"Then I’ll get things ready, and we’ll go out."
Gu Qingli nodded.
Xiao Yunjing kissed her on the lips before going out to make arrangements.
Not long after, Xiao Yunjing returned. He draped a large cloak over Gu Qingli, carried her out in his arms, and stood with Yun No. 20 and the others before the crystal coffin. Exiting this time, Gu Qingli felt much more comfortable.
When they emerged, they saw the entire palace hall was filled with poisoned arrows.
Everyone sucked in a cold breath. Just how many arrows are there!
"Li’er, collect all these arrows," Xiao Yunjing immediately said. This is practically a delivery of weapons straight to me! He had been terribly worried about the matter of weapons; one couldn’t go to war by wielding wooden sticks or fighting bare-handed. If the army was to expand, it naturally needed to be equipped with corresponding armaments.
After Gu Qingli quickly stored the arrows at their feet into her Space, she then collected all the others in the palace hall. Only those under the spot where the crystal coffin had been remained. She had no choice but to first store the crystal coffin back into her Space before she could collect those arrows.
"Huh? Why is the floor here different?"
Once the arrows were cleared away, a section of flooring different from the rest of the palace was revealed. The other areas were white granite, while this part was a slab of greenish jade.
Xiao Yunjing also leaned over to take a look. Then, he drew the Transcending Heaven Sword and used it to pry at a crevice in the slab.
"It’s loose?" Yun No. 20 exclaimed, his eyes widening.
With some effort, Xiao Yunjing pried open the greenish jade slab, revealing an opening underneath.
"Could this be the exit?" Yun No. 20 asked.
Wuyou said, "Then you go down and take a look."
"Oh, alright." Yun No. 20 agreed. He moved the greenish jade slab aside, took out the Night Pearl he had obtained earlier from his bag, and tossed it down into the hole.
"Wastrel," Wuyou shot him a glance and chided.
"Hehe... aren’t there more up there?" Yun No. 20 chuckled dryly. He leaped up to the lamps on the dome, took a Night Pearl, and handed it to Wuyou.
Wuyou glanced at Gu Qingli. Only after Gu Qingli nodded did Wuyou accept it.
Suddenly, Xiao Yunjing also leaped up and took down two.
"Li’er, take these," he said.
Gu Qingli chuckled and accepted the Night Pearls. Looking up at the six still remaining, she said, "Yunjing, why don’t you take five and leave one?"
"Alright." Xiao Yunjing gave her an indulgent smile, then leaped up again and took down five more.
"Wuqing, this is for you." Gu Qingli handed one to Wuqing.
"Thank you, Miss." Wuqing accepted it with a smile.
"Wushuang, Wuxin, Yun No. 18, you each take one too. Yun No. 20 and Wuyou already have one, so I won’t give them another."
Gu Qingli distributed all the Night Pearls. Only the two Xiao Yunjing had given her were left, so she and her husband kept one each.
The group thanked her joyfully. These items were so precious that they all asked Gu Qingli to help store them in her Space, to be given back to them when they returned. Gu Qingli thought that her Space was indeed the safest, so she agreed to help them. In the end, Wuyou’s Night Pearl was also given to her for safekeeping.
"My Lord, there’s no reaction from below. This subordinate will go down first," Yun No. 20 said.
Xiao Yunjing instructed, "You and Yun No. 18 go down."
"Yes, Sir!" The two responded and jumped down together.
"Li’er, are you tired?" Xiao Yunjing asked Gu Qingli, wanting to pick her up.
"Not tired," she replied.
She was wondering how they would put the crystal coffin back in its original place after they all went down into the hole. If it really couldn’t be done, they would have to leave it nearby. It was definitely impossible to keep it in her Space.
