Reborn as a Happy Wife in a Rural Family -
Chapter 207: Palace
Chapter 207: Chapter 207: Palace
"Smash it! Break through this place." Gu Qingli watched for the time it took half an incense stick to burn. Pointing towards the center of the stone house, she declared, "I don’t believe this stone house was placed here just to confuse people."
Hearing Gu Qingli’s command, Yun No. 20 and his men used their internal energy to smash forcefully.
When their internal energy was depleted, Gu Qingli had ways to replenish it.
Finally, after two hours, the stone house was smashed through. Some of the dislodged stones fell precisely through the spot where Xiao Yunjing had plummeted, dropping into the main hall below.
Then Yun No. 20 was the first to jump down.
"Master, you really are here!" Yun No. 20 was so excited he almost embraced Xiao Yunjing.
Xiao Yunjing raised his hand, halting Yun No. 20, then looked up at the dome.
"Yunjing, are you there?"
Just then, Gu Qingli’s voice drifted down.
"Li’er, I’m here. Be careful."
Hearing Xiao Yunjing’s reply, Gu Qingli, who was above, felt her taut nerves finally ease.
"Let’s go down."
"Alright, Miss. Let this servant carry you down," Wuqing said, then took Gu Qingli in her arms and jumped.
After Wuqing jumped down with Gu Qingli, Wuyou and the others followed.
In the main hall, the moment Wuqing set Gu Qingli down, she threw herself into Xiao Yunjing’s arms.
Xiao Yunjing patted her slightly trembling body and said softly, "It’s alright now, Li’er. Don’t be afraid."
Gu Qingli punched him in the chest. Of course, for Xiao Yunjing, the blow had no force whatsoever; it was more like a tickle.
She choked out, "If we hadn’t smashed through that stone house, what would have happened? Have you ever thought about that? You don’t listen to me."
With that, Gu Qingli struck him a few more times.
She had been terrified when he disappeared. She had been keeping her terror bottled up, and only now did she finally unleash it.
"Yes, yes, it was your husband who was disobedient. Li’er, hit me a few more times." Xiao Yunjing even took her fist and guided it towards his own face.
He, too, was filled with regret. He shouldn’t have entered. But how had he fallen in, and how had he woken up later? He had no idea. Falling from such a height, he should have been injured. Yet, when he awoke, he felt incredibly comfortable. His body was in excellent condition, and it even seemed his martial prowess had increased significantly. When he had just woken up, he hadn’t had time to investigate; he only wanted to find a way out. He hadn’t expected Li’er and the others to make their way down.
While Xiao Yunjing and Gu Qingli were embracing and whispering sweet nothings, Wuqing and the others had already begun exploring the main hall.
"TSK, TSK, TSK... Treasures!"
They were overjoyed; their earlier fear and anxiety hadn’t been in vain.
Eventually, their search led them to the crystal coffin.
"Yun No. 20, why don’t you open it?" Wuyou suggested, nudging him.
How could Yun No. 20 refuse in front of the girl he liked?
He nodded repeatedly and called to Yun No. 18, "Come on, let’s lift this lid together."
Yun No. 18 glanced at Wuxin. Wuxin nodded and instructed, "All of you, stand by the Master’s side."
Just in case there was danger.
The four women nodded and formed a protective circle around Xiao Yunjing and Gu Qingli.
Xiao Yunjing and Gu Qingli also turned to watch Yun No. 20 and Yun No. 18.
"Wait, don’t open it yet!" Gu Qingli called out just as they were about to lift the lid.
"Madam, what is it? Is something wrong?" Yun No. 20 turned back to ask Gu Qingli.
"Take a Detoxification Pill first." Anyone capable of building a tomb chamber like an Imperial Palace must be extraordinary. Such a person would hardly allow others to disturb their coffin without precautions.
Upon hearing this, everyone immediately swallowed a Detoxification Pill.
Gu Qingli also took out two pills and fed one to Xiao Yunjing. She then led Xiao Yunjing to the front of the coffin, where they both performed three deep bows of respect.
Yun No. 20 and the others followed their example, also performing three bows of respect.
Regardless, the dead deserved respect; paying respects was never wrong.
After completing the bows, Gu Qingli and Xiao Yunjing stepped to one side.
"Should we open it?" Gu Qingli asked Xiao Yunjing.
Xiao Yunjing nodded. "Open it."
When he had seen the totems on the coffin, he’d looked around but found no epitaph. He wanted to see who lay within. He had a persistent feeling that the Daqian Imperial Family was connected to this place.
Upon receiving permission, Yun No. 20 and Yun No. 18 went over, slowly lifting the coffin lid.
The moment the coffin lid was lifted, countless poisonous arrows shot down from the main hall’s dome.
"You two, get over there!" Xiao Yunjing shouted to Wuqing and Wuyou, shielding Gu Qingli while slashing at the incoming arrows with his sword.
Wuqing and Wuyou immediately rushed forward, swinging their swords to knock down the falling arrows.
Yun No. 20 and Yun No. 18 quickly replaced the lid.
Only then did the poisonous arrows from the dome stop.
"That was close! It seems we can’t touch anything here." Yun No. 20 patted his chest. Glancing at Wuqing and Wuyou and seeing they were unharmed, he added, "Thank you, both of you."
Wuqing shot him a disdainful look. She had only helped for Wuyou’s sake.
"Try moving that box," Wuqing said, still undeterred, pointing to a jade box on the floor.
Yun No. 20 nodded. He chose a jade box farthest from Gu Qingli and the others and forcefully moved it.
As expected, poisonous arrows rained down again from the dome, from all directions.
Wuqing, Wuyou, and Yun No. 18 once again swept away the falling arrows.
Yun No. 20 hurriedly moved the jade box back to its original position.
"Miss, what should we do?" Wuqing approached, linking her arm with Gu Qingli’s and asking with a distressed expression. "There are so many treasures, it’s dazzling to look at, but we can’t get to them." Their only hope now rested with their young mistress.
Gu Qingli had been carefully observing the poison arrows. No matter what they touched, a trap would be triggered. It was impossible for the others to move anything under these conditions; she would have to do it herself. She considered having everyone enter her Space, allowing her to collect all the boxes and the crystal coffin in one go. But with so many items, she wasn’t sure if she could gather everything at once. If she couldn’t, she would have to risk being shot by arrows when she emerged to reposition herself.
Xiao Yunjing saw the cunning glint in her eyes as she gazed at the treasures in the hall and knew she was scheming something. He just didn’t know what method Li’er planned to use. Taking everything into Li’er’s Space at once would be quite difficult.
Not only Xiao Yunjing, but also Yun No. 20 and his four companions, were watching Gu Qingli intently.
After a short while, Gu Qingli said, "All of you enter my Space first. I’ll go in last. I want to see if I can collect all of this at once. Go and quickly take stock of how many items there are."
Wuqing and the others hesitated for a moment, then went to check.
A moment later, they returned and nodded to her.
"Li’er, take them into your Space first," Xiao Yunjing said.
"No," Gu Qingli shook her head. "Each additional person consumes more of my spiritual energy."
"Then let’s not take them," Xiao Yunjing said in a low voice. How could he let Li’er take such a risk? He certainly liked treasures, but he couldn’t gamble Li’er’s life for them. He wasn’t that much of a scoundrel. In the future, he would have the Secret Sect scour various countries for rare and exotic treasures for Li’er. Whether by robbing or stealing, as long as Li’er liked them, he would resort to any means necessary to obtain them for her.
"Fine, fine, fine! Then you hold me," Gu Qingli said, rolling her eyes at him. Couldn’t she just compromise? If she annoyed this guy, she’d end up with nothing. To see such a prize within her grasp, only to lose it—how could she be reconciled to that? Wouldn’t it be a terrible waste of heaven-sent treasures?
